2025 Toyota's Stately Century Spawns SUV Variant Costing Nearly $170K

For a considerable amount of time, the Japanese carmaker Toyota has had a unique model in its portfolio called the Toyota Century, which is available only in Japan and is intended for consumers who desire a chauffeur. The elegant Century sedan, which made its debut in the late 1960s, was once available with a smooth V-12 engine. When its most current edition came a few years ago, it was the first to adopt a hybrid V-8 powerplant. The Century is currently changing once again into an SUV.With many exterior color options, including two-tone schemes, and an extensive selection of interior upholstery options, this version will give greater customizing options. Additionally, there's a "sporty" model with GR branding that features sliding doors along with unique wheels and tires.
Many of the design characteristics that define this vehicle are carried over into the new Century SUV, and Toyota states that the sedan will still be offered alongside this new body type. This new Century is boxy, elegant, and elaborate. It is practically as large as many full-size SUVs, yet it only has room for four people. The two rear seats can be folded down into many different configurations, and they are equipped with an entertainment system and a driving mode that softens the impact of sudden stops on the occupants in the backseat.The Century SUV has a 3.5-liter V-6 plug-in hybrid engine with all-wheel drive under its hood. It sounds a lot like the engine in the brand-new 2024 Lexus TX550+, a three-row SUV with 406 horsepower, 30 mpg, and a 33-mile electric driving range. Other than its size and a staggering curb weight of more than 5,600 pounds, Toyota hasn't yet released comprehensive specifications on the Century.
Toyota only intends to produce the Century for the Japanese market, with a monthly production rate of just thirty cars. Starting price will be close to $170,000.
