You Tube kept inverting the thumb nail picture , no matter what orientation the picture was entered !
It's because you are down under. LOL
I changed the picture , all good now !
Ah, I knew I drank last night but didn't think I was that drunk...
@@pontoonrob7948 I had to take another photo early this morning to fix it !
Great work Max. There's a hell of a lot of work in that framework. It's something you take for granted. Well impressed. Tony
Your not wrong there Mate . More than i had considered ! Cheers .
Shop looks good coming together there, crazy winds though! Thanks for the idea on the bandsaw angles, I'll be remembering that one.
Coming together slowly . The bandsaw thing worked out great for cutting alternate angles . Cheers .
Lots of progress despite the heat. Those temperatures are ridiculous to us in the northern hemisphere. I use to work in a steel mill and it would hit 60 or so on the cranes. My experience with the heat taught me to pace myself and have quite a few cool downs. Anyhow, enjoyed the video and thanks for the cool band saw tip, I do hate to change my vice angle all the time. Cheers!
Thanks . I only work in short spurts & drink gallons of water , otherwise one would just keel over ! Cheers .
Stay cool Max. No fun handling hot tools and materials. Have a few more cold ones, you deserve it. Cheers
Thanks Yves . I have to wear gloves a lot of the time . Cheers .
Max -- Nice clean work , well executed. Putting windows in the roof is an excellent Idea. You da man, when I grow up , I want to be just like you .
Thanks Jim . Everything is put on hold at the moment , so progress can be made on the new shop . Cheers .
Max, Wow the new workshop framing is looking good and that design is awesome...
When you were taking brake with a cold one, thought for sure you were going to fry an egg sandwich on one of the steel plates with that heat...Lol Enjoyed your buddies (Mate's) shop, that Iron working punch press is scary strong.
Hope you get a brake from that heat....Dean
Thanks Dean . I try to start just before the sun comes up to miss some of the heat . I did cook an egg it took a while to cook so i gave it to the dog ! . Cheers
Cool It's fun to watch your shop coming together
Thanks Mate . Cheers .
Looking good, thanks for posting the progress of your thirsty work!
Thanks .
Great video, keep'um coming
Enjoyed Max, Shop is looking Great. Thanks for bringing us along. Gary
Thanks Gary . Cheers .
At 4.20... I like your style fella 🍺
Cheers Dave !
Geez Max, you were a lot more productive than me over Christmas and New Years. All I managed to do was drink three cases of beer (at home, as the beer parlours are all shut here). The shop is looking really good. You've got a big project on your hands and it looks to be going very well. We used to drink a lot of beer when I had friends over to help me with projects like this and it would only be 20C out. I can't imagine how much beer you have to supply when it's 42C out. And speaking of 42C, I've seen my thermometer at that temperature before, but only with a minus sign in front of it. Keep up the good work. Ken
Thanks Ken . Usually this time of year i never plan on doing anything except knocking back a few beers ! But unfortunately i had to keep soldering on to make it happen , took a few cold cartons though ! Cheers .
Nice job. Proto one of my favorite tools well built product.
Thanks . I don't think you can get them any more . Cheers .
Gotta get out of that heat mate, keep the fluids up.
Cheers
Peter
Drinking gallons of water & working in short spurts !
Shiny metal surfaces are troublesome for infrared thermometers, but spraying a patch of paint will make for meaningful measurements.
Yes it can be a bit troublesome . Cheers .
🎵Your shed is girt by girt
Great progress Max and a clever angle cutting solution 👍🍺
Thanks Bill . Cheers .
Those were some strong wind gusts. Great progress. Thx for taking the time to share
Cheers John .
Great progress Max, and much respect for getting out in that heat and keeping the whole still in place with these brutal easterlies we had for so long. She’s starting show how big she’s going to be when done. Nice
Those winds had me worried , all survived ! Cheers .
Hello Max,
Very good progress... you must be very pleased...
Take care
Paul,,
Thanks Paul . I will drop by the post office on Monday to post your stickers , just been too flat out to get there . Cheers .
Very jealous of your punch press, nice progress on the shop
Thanks Adam . The iron worker belongs to a friend up the road , i was doing some of my stuff in his shop . Cheers .
Looking great Max. Nice and warm there.
Thanks Randy . A bit too warm , i think we are nearly past the worst of it i hope ! Cheers .
@@swanvalleymachineshop A warm dry winter here so far.
I would be a grease spot on the floor working in that heat! You could stack 1 more flat bar and vicegrip them together than you would be getting 2 for each cut. I do that for angle iron when making brackets works great. I like the how versatile you are in the trades that you do keep up the good work. Keep safe .Cheers
Thanks Carl . I was going to do them in pairs , but every cut they had to be repositioned for the other angle . I just did one length at a time to make handling easier . Straight cuts year no worries , stack them together . Cheers Mate .
That was a cunning solution for the angle cutting. Like it.
Quick shortcut ! Cheers .
Looking good Max.
Many a rough landing coming into Perth with those strong Easterlies, Pilots must hate those strong and gusty winds, my record was 2 go arounds and third time lucky or it was off to Adelaide!
I have had a few wonky landings when i worked FIFO . Never had to go around though . Port Hedland once we nearly run out of runway once after landing due to heavy rain .
It slices, it dices, even makes Julien fries...😁
I hope the insulation is great, and the windows open. Standing on that heat all day is a killer, I used to work on the airport ramp.
Thanks Mate . Cheers .
Swan valley in summer, Stinking hot one day, stinking hot the next.
Or Bloody Easterlies !!! Cheers .
The shop is coming along pretty well max, Im not sure I would be wanting to be out working in that sun, I'd probably be more of wanting to dig a hole and hide in it in that heat, lol.
Same here , but it has to be done ! Thanks Chirpy .
Gday Max, all the best for the new year, those easterly winds get a bit wild there and the heat is way to hot for me mate, the piece of ply board was incredible, the shop is looking good, it’s a lot of work involved but it’s going to be worth every minute, thanks for the update, cheers Matty
Thanks Matty . Yes it's a mega job for sure , at least for me to tackle . Be worth it though . Cheers .
Yo are truly a "Go Getter". Really enjoy watching the endevors you do.
Cheers John .
Wow, you weren't joking about the winds. We get something similar here is So. Cal. caused by cold air in Colorado dropping down all of the way here compressing and heating causing the very dry Santa Ana winds. I often get gusts in excess of 60mph (100kph). We really do live in very similar climates, but you seem to have your time of year all backwards. I love the shop. I think you shop will have more square footage than my house...as it should be.
Thanks Rob .
Ripping into it Max, & making great progress, despite the stinking heat wave.
Did I mention I’ve got a portable painters scaffold here that your more than welcome to borrow if it will help you safely access all the purlins for fixing so your not having to hire the scissor lift, and also not having to work off ladders either. It disassembles east & will fit in the back of your ute, and has wheels on one end, you just tilt it up and roll it along from portal to portal. Let me know if it’s any use to you & I will drop it at your place for you.
Thanks Ian . How high is it .
@@swanvalleymachineshop Hi Mate, it’s 1800 to floor height where you stand and support rail up to 2.5.
I sent details with photo to your phone messages. 👍
@@ianmoone2359 Looks like it will be of use . Thanks mate .
Hi Max, great progress considering your weather constraints. Love the cut-off saw tip, never seen this done before. I know you must be fed up with the heat, I could really use just a day of it, it's not been above zero C in my shop since Boxing day! Sick of my hands sticking to the metal. Cheers, Jon
Thanks John . Yes , sick of the heat . I will get to the post office Monday to post your stickers , just been too flat out to get there .
@@swanvalleymachineshop Absolutely no rush mate, whenever you are passing, no need for a special trip. Good luck with the rest of the build.
That shop is looking fantastic. It's been warmer than usual here too. -18c this morning. I hope it cools down for you. Keep up the great progress Max. Happy new year
No way i could handle minus anything ! I used to work at a gold mine in a place called Southern Cross years ago & that would go down to minus 1 deg C . It used to freeze the water in the pipes in the workshop !
Looking good Max, more room to loose tools in 😁.
Thanks for sharing.
It will be tight when all my machines are under one roof . They are spread over 4 locations at the moment ! Cheers .
Great progress Max !
Thanks .
Hello Max from Michigan USA I have watched some of your videos' .keep them coming!!
Thanks Randy . Cheers .
You sir are a very industrious guy, your attention to the small details and you have smarts for work arounds is amazing sir, we're rooting for y'all to get a roof on it so you won't be baked like a cake🤣🤣🤣🤣! We learn something from each and every video, bless y'all, be safe and stay cool!
Thanks . What cars are you racing .

Looking great Max !!! that will be a fantastic space for you and your machines !! Congrats on the erection !! joe
Thanks Joe . It will be a great to have all the machines under one roof ! Cheers .
Hi Max looking really great, very Professional I like your very simple but effective angle cutting jig. & yep it has been a bit warm in 40c. Thought you might have done the old trick & fried an egg on a steel plate to show how hot it gets lol. Keep up the Great Work & be safe
Thanks Ted . I cooked one up for the dog on a bit of tin ! Cheers .
Damn that's hot material. Looking great though. A few purlins and some tin and you'll be in the shade soon.
The sooner the better . Cheers .
More than awesome! Hat down Mr max! Only one worked on W.A. sun knows heat! Cheers
Thanks John . Cheers .
Very nice mare!
Thanks Mate . Cheers .
Hi Max, Happy New Year. Wow that heat (42° degrees) thats hot! Certainly going to be a nice big shop when done. Regards Kevin
Thanks Kevin . Have a great new year as well . Cheers .
Hi Max, You've been busy, coming along nicely. All the best for the New Year. Cheers
Thanks Paul . Cheers .
Workshop is gonna be a ripper Max. Good to see it come along. Hopefully this heat shoves off for a bit, pretty unpleasant at the moment!
I am over it already ! Had a 4:00 am start to miss some of it today !
Looks fantastic! Thanks for the spacer tip on the bandsaw!
Thanks Yuchol . I hope you have a great new year , Cheers .
About time for a bit of an update mate! 👍👍👍
Sorting one out at the moment , should be in 2 weeks . Just finishing up with a lot of fiddle fart stuff on it that takes a lot of time , like foot mould flashings & drilling thousands of holes for the internal wire mesh for the insulation .
@@swanvalleymachineshop
Don’t know if it’s any help but I stretched my mesh from top plate over the ridge purlins to the top plate on opposite side then tek screwed it in place with galv strap underneath the top plate.
I made up a timber “fence strainer” arrangement and a ratchet strap to tension it before tek screwing it into place under tension.
Insulation on top then roof sheets tek screwed down to sandwich it.
You can always shoot over and take a look if it will save you drilling all those holes by tek screwing.
Or I can send you a photo or two?
@@ianmoone2359 All ready drilled them ! The side walls are ready for insulation & sheeting , just waiting for this rain to stop .
Hi Max, the steelwork is sure coming along nicely, don’t know how you work in those temps🥵, it’s been down to -15c 🥶here in Scotland but we have something in common blowing a hoolie too. Impressive punch machine, makes light work in that plate🍺👍🏴
Thanks . It does get a tad warm , but we got through it ! Cheers .
That is going to be a bad ass shop still learning the metric system . ..Max thanks for all your ideas . PS the metric system is not so hard just have to relearn . But Happy New Year from the states !!!And many thanks for your idea from 2020 . I do look forward to what 2021 has to bring for you .
Thanks Mate . Stay safe over there at the moment ! Have a great new year . Cheers .
Hi Max been watching your videos and it is amazing the parts you build,. Loved the DIY heat treat oven!!
Thanks Randy .
Perfect construction Max. No Bozo visits I Hope.
So far so good , only a minor bozo on the lean too columns . An easy fix though . It will be in the next video !
Looking good. That is bloody hot to work in. Nice ironworker. 100 ton or so?
Thanks Tom . Not sure of the tonnage on that one . Punches holes easy , been about 30 years since i last used one ! Cheers .
Hey Max looking good. Are you going to insulate the roof. I did mine the other year with corro sheets and pink batts. What a difference it made. I used second grade corro sheets so half the price per linear metre.
I will use the same insulation as large commercial sheds . Also will have swampy a/c's .
good stuff max loved a few bars of the start music elp?
Yes , it's a great track ! Reminded me of the movie The Dish !!!
@@swanvalleymachineshop cool its definately what they call prog rock realy great era of Rock, i dont want to mention band names on your ch mate. besides that great progress on the framework, in geelong we r going to cop the heat soon take care Max.
