Exposure to Family Violence: Research Findings and Opportunities for Intervention

  • Dr. Lynette M. Renner (she/her/hers) is a Professor,
    Director of the PhD Program, and Director of
    Graduate Studies in the School of Social Work at the
    University of Minnesota. Her research focuses on
    intimate partner violence and child maltreatment,
    with particular attention to risk and protective
    factors; behavioral, mental health, and parenting
    outcomes; help-seeking strategies; and healthcare,
    legal, and therapeutic interventions. The goal of her
    scholarship is to support the well-being of children,
    adults, and families who experience interpersonal
    violence through the development and adaptation
    of interventions and cross-system partnerships. Dr.
    Renner has presented nationally and internationally
    in the area of intimate partner and family violence
    and her work has been funded by the U.S. Office on
    Women’s Health and the National Institute of
    Justice. She is an alumna of our PhD Programin Social Welfare.
