I drove a Freightliner like that some years back, it had a Cummins 400,a fuller 10 speed, and we called it the beak. I have always really liked Mack Superliners.

I can listen to these boys all day. The only thing missing is the beer! What a treasure trove of knowledge these guys have. I just bought a 1979 KW W900A w/Big Cam II 400 in it and a 15 speed RR Log Truck. It has been sitting for 10 years and I need to crank it up. I bought it last fall and drove 400 miles to get it right as the Snow decided it was time to show up. Blizzard conditions so it has been left to this Spring to retrieve it. Tires, fuel, filters, batteries and oil have all been bought in anticipation. Can't wait to get it started. I could use these guys to drop in and nurse it back to health for me! Lol.

Most things with engines that sat I always say that first start after sitting in the hardest, it will make you work for it but after that it's easy. I've done many small engines and cars to learn that. When you spun it over my first thought was sticky valves low compression.

I was screaming at the screen..."It's not a fuel problem. It's not a fuel problem." I don't know why you didn't hear me!!! LOL I thought when you first cranked it that it didn't sound like you had much compression. When you hit it with the ether and it didn't even try, I was sure of it. Either the valves aren't closing all the way or the rings are too dry to make a seal. You could pull each injector and spray a bunch of WD40 inside. That might give you enough compression to fire off. While you're doing that you can check the valve lash to make sure the valves are coming all the way up.

Im pretty sure your supposed to Screw that Screw in for Fuel Solenoid.. too bypass electric. Those Cummind motors were the best Back in the day...All you needed was a Dime too turn that screw with. It fits right in..It sounded like it didnt have much compression. Probably from Valves sticking opened..I worked on those old Cummins alot back in the Day...Great motors. The truck body seems in good shape. Would make a Nice Restore Candidate.
