Russell, in each one of those water holes, take your excavator and dig a drainage trench on the low side of each water hole all the way down below the lowest bottom part of each hole so any water that will try to puddle back in these holes will just drain out and won't accumulate in them. Good Luck, Put that machine to work for ya:)
Russell needs this issue for vlogging content. He could solve the problem. He doesn't really want to solve it. We ALL know this.
@@ernie7065 if you know anything about owning land you would know there's a million things that need to be done and some things you have to put on the back burner....and he did solve the matter. Easy to be an armchair off-gridder.
@@stanleysharp4269 true... but Russell is, like all of us, getting older.
There is usually two problems with that idea. One is that half the time it's bedrock right and the 2nd is that erosion will drain away what dirt is there.
@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin Trust me, if the waterhole isn't at bedrock yet your drainage trench won't be either and if it is then that will be the bottom of your drainage trench also, it will work a lot better than the current methods used and will be good content to watch:)
Awww, so nice of David and Pam to take such good care of Willow and Junebug.💖💖
Hey Fitzy.
Corduroy road will work if done properly. Add a culvert in low spot and then cover logs with gravel and dirt
I think that Russell has mentioned that parts of the trail he crosses is not his land and he may transit the land but he doesn't have free reign to alter it.
Glad to see you again my friend 👍
Thanks Chris!
Another idea is to use your little backhoe to fill your trailer full of gravel and then put gravel down on your path and then eventually pave it and maybe put in some nice little sidewalks and some solar lighting. I think that would look nice and you know you would have a permanent trail. Do you know how to mix asphalt?
Happy anniversary guys :) Glad you guys got to get some time away in the sun together. Good for the soul :)
Thanks Mallo!
Hi Russell, Could you have moved the trail even further away. Looks too close to the erosion.
On other areas of the trail, would it be possible to put some sandbags with a combo of sand/cement in the pot holes and ruts.
Just my 2 cent thoughts.
There is always the possibility of moving the trail one way or the other. But after the fix in this video, it's pretty good.
@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin Awesome, thanks for the reply Russell.
Yeah Russell I use cutter backyard bug control to control mosquitoes fleas and ticks it also works on black flies which we call them horse flies which I'm pretty sure the same thing it comes in a bottle that you hook up to your garden hose and spray it around the area that you want protected it does 5,000 square and last up to 12 weeks and black flies you have and mosquitoes and everything else works great I'm sure you could use the pond water and hook it up to the bottle to spray it out
Is it safe with pets?
Yes it is safe I never had any issues with it after so many hours of it being applied I applied it around my house every year to protect my kids and animals from insects
And I also had two dogs it's saved us it made it so could go outside and not get chewed up all the time
Make a corduroy path in the low spots of your trail..
They don't work in most circumstances.
The tire treads will chew a corduroy road apart after a while and you just end up sitting there spinning your wheels on rotten wood and he still has to make up that steep incline. Some people use wire fencing and steak to the ground but even that causes some tire spin.
When you cut those small trees, lay short pieces cross ways giving you a bridge. It’s will mass down and just keep adding where needed. Kinda like you was doing in vid but fill it up.Eventually it will be solid.
Greetings Russell. My homestead is more sloping than yours, so there are less boggy patches. My strategy was to drop more crush rock onto t and build up a deep layer that was then covered in pit run. Even with this and a drainage ditch I have probably put 20K or more into it and vehicles drive up her in 2WD which eventually scuffs off the top layer.
Thx for doing this, filming it and sharing it with us
Glad you enjoy it, Sheila
🥳 Glad to see you back... Russel. 🤗 Thanks for the share. Hugs to ya and City Girl. 🌷🌷🌷Blessings. 🙏🏻😊
Can ams are money pits that run on a rubber band. Buy a Honda, it has a shaft drive, bulletproof and less expensive. Enjoyed the video...
Great your back. Your fans missed you and your adventures. Too bad you could not get your little excavator (Bumble Bee) in there to fill in the hole with all the water, using the surrounding dirt and stones and maybe dig a trench to take the water away to other areas. A little bit of ABS piping buried in the ground may help, as long as you put netting over the end. Lots of beaver dams to keep an eye on. Looks like you and City Girl had a wonderful time and great weather in Antigua. We have been to St. Lucia and we loved it there. Probably good that the seeds you planted have not germinated with the cold temperatures. Willow and June Bug look so healthy. Your friends take great care of them. They must miss you when you are away. Such loyal companions for you. Missed your cooking, maybe next time. Have a great week and best of luck with developing the property where your garage will be located. I know you will be so happy to have one. You will be able to use your present garage as a green house if you change the gray plastic to clear when the garage is finished. All fun at the cabin, never out of things to do for sure. Does City girl have any craft projects she will be doing at the cabin? I love how she makes things from off the land. Did you get to see the eclipse through your telescope? Have fun and enjoy your natural paradise. All the Best!
Thanks for the comments, Vanessa. CG has a few things in the works, but right now it's just getting the garden going.
On the saw box you could just saw hand holds out on each end. It has often bugged me that you haven't made this part of your chores a lot easier. Lol. Loving to see you back.
So happy to see you again, Russell of the Rock! Made our day. 😊
Glad you and Pam enjoyed it!
The bottle on that renegade you was looking at at bay marine is nitrous oxide . Makes it have more power / faster
That does seem crazy on an ATV.
Glad you guys are back! Nice video! Looks like your vacation was a blast!!
I’m going to modify my ATV with a branch also. Ingenious !
Do it Dave!
Good to see you back Russell 🙂
David Evans nice job with your lines.
well i joined .. we are so happy . tysvm hugs yall
Inverter would be your biggest robber - 25W x 24 x 7 = 4.2kw / week. Fridges are 30 to 50W = 8400W
Knee deep in this trivia as our first 3.5KW growatt is on its way to Nicaragua and another will leave in a month... Had to crunch all the numbers and for us 7KW, (2 phases @ 3.5KW) is kinda on the edge for the amount of AC we want to have, but time will tell.
Happy anniversary.. you two crazy kids❤️☮️
Thanks Yvonne!
Build a corduroy road in wet areas
You could try a corduroy bridge on that area.
Yay, my weekly dose of Raspberry Rock is back!
Hope you enjoyed it, Dave
would it help to haul rock down to the hole that you detoured around and at least partly fill it?
A few at a time repeatedly should fill it.
Happy to see you back and Happy Aniversary to you both glad you had a great time together away❤ Russell any plans on doing your bathroom or building a shed with all the wood you have? Stay safe my friends.
mud-hole
beep beep beep, back up a few videos,
you set up a garden in the open space,
you set up a water-pump to irrigate the garden-pots,
use the water-pump to drain the water-hole, on your trail!
Good to see you back! I got the results back on the brain MRI and they did not find a tumor. I will be following up with an endocrinologist to delve deeper.
So glad you got a good report Kathy🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤😊
Good news, Kathy.
Glad to see you guys are doing good and are back. hope you and city girl had a wonderful Anniversary. Here's to many many more !!
Thanks!
Dig a drainage trench. You have an excavator.
Fill that water hole with logs after it drains
I was up at our place last weekend in N WI. Going up again wed to clean and summerize cabin for summer.
hi you guys!!!!!! spring in ontario...Russell remember. bigger tires and more clearance means bigger ruts!!!!!!
Mike! Yes, I'd also be worried about the higher centre of gravity, but I'd like to give one of those machines a try.
Great to see you back! Really enjoyed the video. ✌️
You should paint the trouble rocks and stumps with red paint and flag off the crater on the path. ❤
Welcome 🤗 home!
MARYKAY!
@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin ❤️
I feel for ya could you not get a drain in those wet areas and corduroy the trail. And in time put aa bridge of some sort over that bridge of doom . Gosh then to have your truck issue you poor soul. A bit of a set back but you'll get it all sorted i am sure. Ya we can't win come summer with the bugs the puppers were sure happy to see ya eh aww nice of the folks to watch the dogs for ya. Yikes the cost to fix the ATV Ouch is correct . missed your videos . best of luck
I wish I could have a bridge there. Oh well.
maybe yourself and Ray could come up with something, anyway don't stress too much , It will be sorted in due time .
Happy anniversary to you both you guys are amazing.
Thanks Trudi!
@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin I was able to join today. I wasn't able to do it on the weekend because I hurt my foot re-injured.. We are happy to be part of the raspberry rock family. Woot woot.
BTW, that was indeed a nitrous system on that crawler! WHY!!!????
Hey Russell, howzabout video of tonight's aurora borealis, the Northern lights.
Missed it, Ray.
@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin
Still, tonight
I'm so glad I live in British Columbia after watching your videos
You can come visit
Good to see you. I'll be checking in. We had some heavy rain here in the last few days so always something to fix. Kenny from Western North Carolina
Thanks Kenny
I'm always surprised you're still alive
Don't blame you.
Happy Friday Canada 🇨🇦 😊🏠🐕🦺🦮👍👍👍👍✌️
Hope you're having a good weekend, Mel.
Have you ever had a Sasquatch experience such as wood knocking or trees broken in half or any other signs? It’s recorded that Ontario has had lots of activity ✌🏻🇨🇦
Glad to see you back again.
Thanks Patricia
Good to see y’all!
Hope everything well!
Thanks Rhonda
Could you put logs across it like alog bridge or log road ? Crossways, perpendicular to your trail?
he doesn't really want to fix it
I've tried it Diane, they just float around and cause new problems.
Wouldn’t it be worth having somebody come up with a small dozer and straighten your trails out as much as you drive it I would think it be well worth the cost. Warm months in the country are the most trying days there are!!
Most of it isn't my property and I'm obligated to keep changes small.
Awesome Russell when you show the temperature can you switch it over to Fahrenheit for us Americans that would be awesome.😅
You know you can get a permit to blow those dams
Good to see you back!
Thanks!
Welcome back.
Thanks.
Buy a tool called a mattock.
Dig a drainage trench. Do some every other day to avoid strain.
Git 'er done.
Precept: water flows downhill.
Also:
We'd like you to employ corduroy structures at your smaller trail depressions BEFORE it becomes a small dangerous pond like you got.
A drainage ditch allows for erosion. It just gets worse.
Corduroy roads don't work and are a lot of maintenance.
@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin
Wow.
And, jeez.
I have missed you guys and have been a bit worried about you two. I have been praying you are fine and just busy.
Same here...
I’m just curious why you can’t use your little backhoe to pull the small trees out of the ground instead of cutting them off.
Great to see you guys again!!!
Hi Russell why are you making the new trail so close to the existing one
Beautiful
You need to get a dragon hat thingy? No more deer/horse flies
An atv dump trailer you can fill to those low spots
Yup.
I have missed you Russell! You make me laugh!!!❤😊
Thanks Linda
Alright Alright Alright!!! Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it, Horse
❤
Good news! Happy Friday.
Hi Patricia
I would use rock with your trail on the hill. And to make bridges too?
Welcome back!! You went on vacation, that’s great!! This was a wonderful video, enjoyed seeing both of you and the pups too!!
Thanks Ruby!
Why don’t you put willow or trees down on the pathway to prevent erosion from your Atv. Then you won’t have to worry. For awhile replace the trees that are broken and you will get a build up. We use to do it long time ago . With the horses and buggy.
Russell doesn't really want to fix it right --- he needs the issue for vlog content.
Pauline I've tried it in a few places. The logs just float around and cause worse issues.
👍🏻
This may have been asked before but in your area is beaver trapping legal
Yes, but you need a trapper's license.
you need a second mode of transportation Russel
I'm saving for a helicopter.
👍
Would a couple of bug zappers help around the cabin?
I dunno. It's a lot of bugs. I wouldn't mind trying them. I wonder how much power they draw.
Again...google Purple Stuff for the dog's ears!!!
Hello you two!!!! Happy anniversary ❤❤❤🎉 Glad you are back and are both healthy🎉🎉🎉 How many years have you been married now? My hubby and I made it to 52 yrs in Feb. 2024😊 I really missed you😢😢❤❤❤ Take care😊😊
Thanks Judy! 29 years now.
Good to hear from you Russell. Thanks for sharing your story.
Hope you're having a good weekend, Michael.
Whew! Glad you are back. I was worried.
Hey Russell! Welcome back to the Rock!
We have a suggestion for a video. Could you do a video just on your solar system? Explain your set up ? We're off grid and would be interesting to hear about others systems.
And ya, 2.5kw hours a day while you were gone seems high.
8😊
I did a video about it a long time ago: czcams.com/video/b2gOy1162vE/video.html
Some things have changed, like now I use 2 x 10Kwh LiFePo4 battery banks.
@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin , HI Russell. We watched the video, hope you are able to see our comment . 👍
Glad your back Russell always look forward to your Friday videos. Stay healthy and safe many prayers and blessings.
Thanks Paul!
Glad to see you back
Thanks FB
get out the mini ex and drain it!
You need a work shop so get busy and build one lol
Yup, I do.
Dig a ditch to drain the water.
Your next cabin vehicle is going to be a side-by-side
Boy that Can am has turned into a money pit. It's kind of funny but you can put a sticker on your backrest but you can't put a seat cover on the seat. I could be wrong but didn't someone send you a seat cover for it and you needed a different stapler? Maybe that's another channel
Yeah I need a compressed air stapler. Maybe I should get 20 of those stickers to fix my seat.
All ATV's are money pits unless you can do the repairs yourself....
@@jedidiah5131 I have an old sportsman. No.. not you many repairs. Brakes muffler about it. I do my own repairs. Bring it to a dealer, yeah you'll pay.
If I were your neighbor I would be very happy to help you 😊
I needed this. Can't explain why, but I can't seem to relax and unwind today. A trip to Raspberry Rock will do me well. 🇺🇸👍✌️🤟
Glad you got your fix, Max.
How much would a dozer blazing a driveway in and rock cost…about a mile…would be about 30k usd here roughly.
A dozer would never make it in here.
It was 10.00 a foot 10 years ago....and I had to take all the trees down, they would remove the stumps and it was extra to fill in any low spots.....
Hello Russell and Alicia. Missed you both. Nice work on the new “by-pass” Russell. Stay safe.
Thanks AB!
Can you use your mini excavator to take out the stumps
Maybe, not sure. It's not that powerful. I bet it would take a while.
Russell you should never operate a power saw alone because a power saw don’t just cut it tears and it’s always serious!
Ann if I didn't do stuff because it was dangerous, I wouldn't have a cabin out here. Running a chop saw is dangerous.
Glad ya'll are all ok. Just been away for a nice beach vacation. Ugh the trails again. What is your plan to get it all fixed for good. bang bang bang is a good start. Beavers got to go. Trap and release far away.
Hi Patti
Hello you two, great seeing you again and the catch up. Keep smiling.
Thanks Scarlet!
Happy that your back Russell
Thanks
Maybe you should trap some Beaver, you'll never win that battle until you do!!!
I've considered getting my trappers license.
