I'm 29 and going blind due to 25 years of type 1 diabetes, and when I was 23 had a stroke in my retina. This is possibly the most hope giving video I've seen in quite a long time. I still have vision in my left and some of my right, but reading is incredibly difficult. It's amazing to see someone get back something so needed. :')

My brother was dying from kidney failure, and my sister offered him one of her kidneys,he refused,he told her, you only have one child, and if you tried to have another one,it might hurt her pregnancy 😭 I offered him one of mine, but he said I drank too much!! I really didn't, but I think he thought if he took one of our kidneys,we wouldn't live a normal life,at least that's what I think he was thinking 🙏🏽💙he died at the young age of 34 🙏🏽🙏🏽💙💙REST IN POWER RALPH 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💙💙💙

I hope I don't lose my sight until we fully understand how the eyes work and can regenerate them from all conditions. I think without sight I would lose imagination and passion for life.

Iam so happy for you man. I am also legally blind my left eye is gone never seen from it due t retinal detachment that wasn't diagnosed in the beginning. Already have 5 surgeries in eight eye can't drive can't see far. Iam really happy for u. God bless
I feel your struggle, im also diagnosed with lattice degeneration in both eyes, had symptoms for years now. Just stay strong and try to focus on the things you are enthusiastic about, thats all i can say.

I'm so happy for you. I lost an eye to infection and it caused the most pain I could ever imagine. Like being stabbed in the head over and over. After surgery to remove my eye I am pain-free and getting on with life. My remaining eye was not my strong eye but I can drive and use the computer etc.

There is a French Paralympic tennis champion who suffered from chronic leg pain after a nasty car accident. Couldn't bend the knee, was always on painkillers... eventually chose to have it amputated. Claims he never regretted his decision since he got free from the chronic pain.
that is so nice how is sister helped him. I hope in the future, the invent a way to extract stem cells from your own body because i would never want another person's stem cells, only my own from my own body. The only exception is my family members because they have similar dna to me and i don't want another persons dna

This is not retina issue. It has to do with the front part of the eye the cornea. It is pax-6 gene. It is hereditary.

This research talking about cornea (Limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD) is characterized by a loss or deficiency of the stem cells in the limbus that are vital for re-population of the corneal epithelium and to the barrier function of the limbus) but regarding optic nerve diseases I think it's not possible yet.

I can releate, I have had 20/400 vision since I was 2 I am 55, dunno how I have managed to work all these years with this problem! I just had cateract surgery in both eyes now my left eye is 20;/30 and right eye is 20/40 so, thats pretty wonderful!

I am half blind and need glasses to see clearly :) I lived for 2-3 years without glasses, twice ;P
My vision has been 20/600 since I was a baby. Luckily my brain is good and I can see amazingly without glasses for what its worth

I really wanted to help some man.... During the age of 7 he can see, walk, play, go wherever he wants to go and one day suddenly something went into his eyes so he went to doctor so the doctor advice him to have a surgery and suddenly he lost his two eyes so i wanted to help him so much. An embryo isn't used with adult stem cells. They can use your own adult stem cells or another adult match.

The thought of going blind scares me greatly. I'm in my early mid 20s and I've pretty much spent all my life trying to become an illustrator. Recently I was diagnosed with PVD and I notice it tugging on my retina as well as several annoying floaters. Straight lines also appear slightly jagged so that makes me fear AMD. I don't understand why I've developed all this crap. I eat healthy, I never drink nor smoke...

I had this surgery done on both eyes in 2014 and my left eye end of 2015. But now my left eye has failed. My eye doc is supposed to be one of the best. And now my eye doc tells me that he thinks if they do another stem cell transplant it just will fail again. The only thing he says I can do is get a artificial cornea. But it will only improve my vision for 5 yrs and in 10 yrs I will be completely blind. This scares the crap out of me
I'm about to give up on everything. What I have is on my family from my mom. My son will get this also and he has other difficulties such as autism, adhd, sensory issues, short term memory loss. I cant do this anymore. I cant go on. I cant even hold a job. Due to missing work for eye doc appts my eye doc saying I cant work for weeks on end. I cant get disability because it's only one eye. I'm about to to lose my place. I'll be homeless and cant afford all the eye drops and other meds and take care of my son. I cant get no help. I'm scared out of mind. I dont know why I cant get help with something that can save me from losing my vision and a form of making money or work so I can survive goes me and my son. I hate myself. I cant stop crying

My both are cornea transplanted. But I don't have good vision. Doctors says eyes nerves have dried up so it can't be treated.

Hey friend, the issue covered in this video was limbal stem cells which basically allow the cornea (clear part over your eye) to be restored since it is constantly shed like your skin cells. He had vision problems due to a refractive abnormality and lack of proper tear film. Your mother having a stoke probably somewhere in the occipital lobe would mean its neurological and not much can be done presently to restore vision. There are retinal implants and the like but they are rudimentary.
They are doing neural stem cell injections in the lesions of stroke patients.
Nothing to do with neurological stuff. 😂 it is hereditary and has to do with anarida -dry eyes ect...

Scratch the negative comments. I am happy that you can see now. I have the same thing wrong with my eyes now. I have gimbal stem cell dyfenancy. Its so hard to see and the pain is the worst of it. My doctor is planning on do the transplant for me also, but they will be using them from a cadaver.They will only be doing this transplant on only one of my eyes. The other has progressed enough in my other eye, but the pain is in both eyes. From all the meds I will be on, i think it would be beneficial for them to do both eyes.

Hope it works out for you and your sister!! I've had both eyes done in the past year. The pain is 95% better. my vision in both eyes are 20/60. Just need my left eye to heal more and hopefully it will get better vision so I can drive. Also I have cateracts in my eyes due to one of the eye drops I've been taking. But my eye doc says it will benefit me to get the surgrey.
