Call it "Baby O " your uncle already said Baby ( I'm not going to say the rest)
Name it "El mofles"
BABY OP
(Baby optimus prime)
Whistlen diesel already had a cab over named frank so don't name it that
You gotta name it benny
@@camrynbunnell3397 blue benny
Please don't stretch it or slam it just restore it 🙏🏻
At one time it had a cat, my guess a 3408.
Name for the truck
"Stumpy"
Will that work?
haha stumpy is a nice fit!
There’s a latch inside the driver and passenger door look behind the seat there should be a lever that will open the toolbox doors
looks like a old choke cable knob that you pull on
Ok whistlin diesel 😂 ..I mean Bruce Wilson .. I mean bug bmx
You forgot West Champlin and his Peterbilt.
Making it Happend.. haha yeah but it’s not a cab over
Bruce Wilson has a gay semi freightliner is better an western star peterbilt kenworth
He and Bruce should ha an_l s_x with each other in both of their cabovers just to support each other's channels.
Gonna have all the boomers come to his channel now 🤣😂
Dont screw up this classic
Go buy one. Build it the way you want.. then sit back and read the thousands of morons comments telling you how you should have done it... according to them.
Do your research on this tractor, I think you'll think twice about chopping or modifying it, this is a super rare collectable piece of trucking history and if you don't want to do this truck justice, please allow one of us to do the truck right, great videos.
bug inside the driver door along the side panel behind the sesat there will be a latch to open that door
Qwik ShiFFter thank you so much! I’ll check that out!
You missed a step underneath the door their footwell step and I'd name her Stella
Short stack 🥞
I like that
I dig that!
Oh yes, that fits
I like that
You should make it a glossy wine red with chromed-out parts.
That would look soooo good!
That actually sounds sick
Blue, it’s the best!
What a find! Cab is great shape. Awesome that it is dual stacks and dual intakes. Need to put 4 air horns on top and 4 more lights. Ditch them rear fenders and get some Hogebilt fenders. Light bar on the back.
10 speeds are pretty simple, it’s a 5 speed transmission, flip the splitter after the first five, and you get the other 5
I like how he says show truck cause he is the kind of person that will actually powered coat and make a real show truck I’m excited
That thing is awsome. . Is it going to turn into a sick tow rig for next years sema. Going to be an awsome start up. Near chrome with a blue keep it blue. Cummins nice. Twin turbo.
I drove the same truck but a 1987 vintage for a living. Same setup with a Cummins too. I drove it from NJ to FLA to PA and back to NJ pulling doubles for Roadway Package System almost 30 years ago. Brings back some memories seeing that thing.
Name it the "copy cat"
Keep it factory
I has character - don't wreck it!
To open the small doors on the side, open the main doors and in the back of the cab next to the seat there is a cable. Pull the cable and at the same time try to open the door. Same thing on the other side.
Sooo pumped to see how this turns out and can’t wait to watch along the whole process!!
"Blue Moon", Like once in a Blue Moon it was a truck!
That shifters on backwards and that red switch on the side of it means u got a 13 speed witch is way better than a 10 speed
To get it started I'd replace the batteries, fuel filters and put fresh fuel in it, plus I'd recommend changing the oil and greasing the truck. Then to open the side compartments there should be a pull cable inside the door behind the seat
I had a Mack MH cab over tandem. Loved that truck, the visibility in traffic was amazing. The cab over maneuverability is the best for tight deliveries. You wheel base reminds me of a tugboat. Some ideas for a name, Tug it, they use to call cab overs snub noses, snubby . Big blue. Good luck, enjoy your truck.
You should name it Papa Smurf
Michael Mannix oh heck ya!
@@bugbmx durtymax jack named his giveaway dodge papa smurf
Last time on the channel you had a semi was when you str8 piped a kenworth if I’m not mistaken🤔 can’t wait until this truck is lookin sharp🤘🏻
Matthew May yeah that was a long time ago! This semi will get straight piped as soon as we get it running 🏃♀️
6 inch Straight pipes and a "Jake brake" then go wake up your neighbors 😁😁
Normally used in LTL freight hauling due to easy maneuvering but also there were length laws back in the day so they wanted the tractor short and to be able to have longer trailers to haul more freight. If you didn't know this already. First time here.... Love these old trucks. CF and Roadway used these trucks to push their other tractor trailers over Donner Pass in the winter. They had a counter weight on the back to give them traction. Apparently the short wheelbase gave them extremely good traction in snow. Cool project. Orange Frame, deep red cab. If you search freightliner paint schemes, there will be pages that come up with cool vintage paint ideas. That goes for other makes of big trucks too. They did some wild striping back in the 70's and 80's on these cabovers.
I have one of those out back in the boneyard. 350 Cummins 13spd. Love me a cab over. I'd say that's a 92" wide cab. Watch yourself around those square door corners, they bite!
Consolidated Freightways had tons of these. Looks like a small cam engine. There's a data plate behind drivers seat.
Name it "Shawty"
Love show trucks!!
Chris Trapp I like that😈
The "Baitliner"
james wilson hahaha yes James 😂
To open that door . Check the inside along the seat or behind driver seat there should be a latch to open it if it's still there . That's the usual spot in semis for the open mechanism . Stoked for the new build ,🔥
To open the drone boxs Open the door and look for a cable along the floor Pull it Nice Truck
"yOu aRe cOpYiNg sOmEoNe" lmaooo so who else is turning a cab over into a SHOW TRUCK? again thats SHOW TRUCK. This is not just a get running and then call it done project. You all know your boy bug goes ALL. THE. WAAAAAAAY. plus I need something to pull other show vehicles :)
Bug Bmx call it the blue blazer
SO HYPED FOR THIS. i can tell how excited u are
We going to have to coolest cab over everrrr
Just because it saw this truck on your thumb nail right now, I subscribed because I LOVE SEMI TRUCKS!!!!
love how buyin and restoring semis is a thing right now' the old cabovers are the best as long as there dine right im a driver and someday want to buy one of these old trucks for working 💪🏼 cant wait to see the progress
It's been a thing forever, now you have CZcams and can actually watch these rebuilds.
Cab over vs sema build tug of war?
nathan jay hahah I’m so down😂
Name it Big Shorty
Heck yeah!
ThatPeterbiltGuy Ats My dad was a truck driver and one of The other guys CB handle was a big Shorty. That’s perfect for that truck.
The average Joe’s tinkering And Repair Show that’s cool
They are not goofy, GOOFY!! These trucks are legendary and awesome!
That handle your uncle was wobbling on the back of the sleeper was the latch to unlatch the cab. There’s one on each side then there should be a bottle jack looking thing somewhere you pump like a jack to tilt the cab. By the looks of that intake that is a 350 or 400 bc Cummins. If you look on the accessory drive/ the driver side of engine in front of the fuel pump there will be a metal tag for engine. Should say something like NTC400BC which would be a 400hp big cam. And that is also a 13 speed transmission bc of the red splitter on the side. Look forward to all the upcoming restoration vids!
Keeps saying the body has no rust, i wonder when he'll realize it's aluminum😂😂😂
Road salt WILL rust these truck if not taken care of washed/steam cleaned
@@roylehew3164 yeah everything that's not aluminium slick😂
I drove one of those for 10 years ( mine was a tandem with a bigger sleeper)
Open door and pull cable both sides I have driven cabovers for over 30 years once you drive one you will fall in love with one
Bug, there is usually like a pull strap in the cab to open the outside door compartment. It may be beside your seatbelts. Check around the inside near where the compartment is.
These old cabovers look nice in a dark green with red stripes trimmed in gold
Josh Grossett ohhhh I like that
@@bugbmx Ooooh.. I like that too, if my vote matters.. count it!
@@bugbmx And something to ponder, gold will reflect the heat from sun alot more than green, and would look pretty sick on a roof 🤔
Hope you have a lot of money. You gonna need it.
To open the door look beside the drivers seat and there should be a chain to pull💯
Perhaps in your next project, a truck this size wild be the one of coolest pickup truck out there 😎
Are cab overs the big new thing??? Like whistlin and Bruce A and others wow
Ryker Faatz8205 it must be because after I watch Bruce A I saw one down the road where I live for sell
Ryker Faatz8205 I purchased this to haul my other show vehicles along with turning this into a full blown show truck. Which I haven’t seen anyone else do🤷🏻♀️
Bug Bmx in that case, you should extend the frame a bit, be sick with a single axle and extended...
Keep it vintage cause this there are not many of this old freightliners around
Call it stumpy and for your cubby doors there is a cable inside the drivers and passenger doors that you pull to open the cubbies. When you open the main door just reach around the corner towards the bunk the cables are usually against the outside wall
Nice excited for what's going to happen with the build. Name the truck big John.
Bug, my dude you and your crazy awesome shenanigans. So stoked for this. What you should do is rip out the bed and put a monster sound system in it
Thanks dude! This will be the baddest cab over ever!
DO IT
Name it “Minimus Prime”
Look for a pull or push leaver on the left behind the driver seat and right rear or pass seat
For the side box, between the seat and the wall, there should be a cable, pull it and the side door will open
get the same rap as you have on the Cummins
I thought about that!
U should do it
Bug Bmx
Ok
Call it Big Shorty 😂
Kube I’m diggin that😂🙌🏼
Dude I said that lmao
Bug Bmx 😆
ThatPeterbiltGuy Ats I said it first 😎
I guess that means it’s a really good name lol
On them freightliner cabovers the clutch pedal goes into a rod check underneath the driver's floorboard to see if the pedal is meshed up with that rod. That is a awesome truck I learned to drive on a 72 freightliner cabover 318 Detroit 13 speed in 1973. good luck you can't go wrong whatever you decide to do with it
There should be a cable down beside the seat on the door side
Rory Condon okay sweet I will look for that! Thank you!
Name it “Got some Ed-40?’’
This truck needs a lot of that!
So is ED-40 LIKE WD-40 FOR HANDYCAP truck its missing a axle. 😊. 😊😊
It’s a “White” Freightliner
GMC white Freightliner
@@davidbowen3233...GMC has nothing to do with Freightliner. White and Freightliner went in together during the 60's and 70's. White is a truck company in their own right and they have also gone in with Volvo during the 80's and 90's..
To open the little door you have to pull a wire that is at the base of the drivers seat
Engine first, then go for pretty and shiny. Right now every idea you have thrown out sounds great. Suggest stretching it, look at 2012 Volvo C70 for a sick black with a deep flame metal flake. I’m with you till it rolls to the show. Hell yeah!!!
Make videos of you getting it running
Chris Knick will do! Got to get wiring figured out first!
Optimas primes cousin 😂
kaleb H hahaha his beat up cousin😂
Lol everyone is getting cabovers now. Gr8 video bug!
Ps i think *Stubby* sounds good!
To Open the door there’s a little pole thing under the driver side or passenger side seat you’ll see like a little rope to pull in and open the side door
Welcome to the club that I’m not in lmao
haha i'm excited to be In it!
Literally copied Whistlin' Diesel but that's none of my business.
whistlin is an international and is double axle and unlike whistlin bug is going to fix his truck
bruce wilson **
It’s “Tmus” in its prime can’t wait to see this project! slam it! Orr lift it and put some big knobbly tyres! Do you have to have a licence to drive it in the us?
I think you should have it ready for the truck shows in Salina and Lehi. Ive got a 73 white Freightliner thats 3' shorter than my 1st gen. The COE is just over 10' long. Just like my old iron, I call it " what the hell was I thinking "
It looks like one of the old trucks that were for sale in SLC right off of 2100s? And I-15
If you're on Facebook. Look up American Trucking Historical Society, or anything with cabover and you'll find more ideas then you can handle. The guys there will be able to help with your questions. But prepare for a little drama. Vreins Truck parts on Beck Street has a good deal on wheels.
Make sure to change oil, clean out the old fuel/water before starting it. Besides that, treat like you would any other old diesel pickup that you'd bring back to life. Just be careful so it doesn't run away. For the cool look, Id prefer the clean and classic. But it sounds like your heart is going after the California look. 22.5 alcoas with 255 low pros. Full, single fenders in the back. Personally I wouldn't use super singles. When they blow out. You'll be replacing more then just a tire. Last super single blow I fixed caused $5900 in damage. So stay with duals.
If the drive axle has spring suspension, you have to add an air ride hitch if you pull a gooseneck or 5th wheel camper. The trailer frame wasn't built strong enough for the rough ride of a 38k lbs spring rating.
Depending on registration and insurance. You can register it as a classic car and insure it as an R.V. I can send you my insurance guys info and he'll get you taken care of, they're just in Orem. It can be a pain in the ass to do it. But its worth it, you'll also need to add " Not for Hire or Private R.V. If you use this truck for work or you have your company name on the side. Prepare to be harassed by cops. Especially if you don't have your CDL. Which is easy enough to get if you go that route. If the truck is just for personal use. Ive got a paper from Utah state that explains the rules which saves your bacon when you get pulled over. People owning semis for personal use isnt a big thing. So 90% arent sure what to do.
Their you go, just copy Bruce Wilson with the idea to do a semi build 🤦♂️
Lift it ... nice truck bug I love it ... keep up the good work brother
Justin Berry thanks man! A lifted cab over would be sweet!
Yea buddy you sure would have a one of kind bad ass truck ...
Little Tim' Is a good nick name. Lol.All Kidding aside. That is a Neat old truck.A White Frieghtliner. Its deffently a classic.👍
Make it a duo with the sema truck Nd make a badass tow rig for next sema 👌🏼👌🏼
"Blue Maui", keep it a dual exhaust, dual intake single screw. Sweet!
Open the door should be a latch or cable you pull to open the tool box on side good luck buddy congrats on the cabover buddy
That truck is awesome Keep it that color
It's the shorty shaker lol. That thing is awsome it would look awsome black and gold
i honestly feel like it would fire right up but i noticed you struggle to get in so you go up the steps and then putyour foot in the step above the tire makes it alot easier
At the beginning of the video I thought it was a commercial for a drink 🤣👍
I'm with Rolling Thunder's naming it, "Blue Moon".
Apparently he and I are on the same wave length. He thought of it first.
I'd lower it, detail the engine and put tons of lights on exterior.
I would extend the rear end with triple axels. Beef up the front axle. I'd still replace all the upholstery, the original is aged and weakened. You want a "Show Truck", show it as such.
I think whatever you do, it WILL, look beautiful.
Look forward to more videos.
If you open the driver/passenger door and look back towards that little door there should be a cable to pull on and open them up. You have to pull on the cable and pull on the door from the outside at the same time from outside the truck.
Now that is a sweet cabover 1974 is the year I was born.
I have a couple Freightliner COE's and Kw, Pete, Mack.
Hey @Michael Smith lnterested in selling one
@@perfectdipper144 Unfortunately no the one's I have are part of my collection but I do restore and sell when I get several same trucks.
Latch just inside the door on the right on driver side and mirrored on jump seat side (passenger side)
Door release is in cab on both sides by seat near cab wall. That is a match book.
I propose "Delta Magnus"
(Basically a Blue Optimus Prime)
Or if you're going for a different color, do red and call it Optimus Prime, white and call it Ultra Magnus, or black and call it Nemesis.
Or maybe just Peter.
with some compartment lockers you usually get like a pull leaver or cord that will release the lock on the door
Fabricate a pickup bed for it, hide the 5th wheel under it but in a manner that it can still be used. Basically, turn it into a super heavy-duty pickup truck. If you want to go all out, could maybe tinker with the transmission, maybe swap in something closer to a 5-speed or modify the current one to have gearing more suitable for a "pickup truck".
Of course, could just restore it and leave it as is. Whatever floats your boat.
I’m a truck driver and that year and model what is the very first semi truck I learned how to drive in there actually pretty sweet
Drain the fuel, drain the oil, put new fluids in. Check the air filter. Put new fuel in. New fuel filter and u might need to prime the injectors. New Batteries. Make sure u got good oil psi. The basics. The motor will either be a 290, 300, 350, 400. I doubt it's a KTA Cummins. The transmission would be a 9 spd, 10spd, 13spd, 15spd, 18spd.
twin turbos and the same blue color just a bit more light blue love these things especially slammed
Show truck I love the ol school semis I'm getting my cdl and gonna be a trucker and I would love nothing better to own a old school cab over or needle nose kenworth
The cargo doors normally have a pull cord behind the seats you can either look for it or just feel around with your hand hope this helped.
Name it chode. Don’t stretch it don’t slam it don’t do anything stupid with it. Restore it and use it as a bad ass fully restored sema hauler. Do the truck justice and bring it back to glory
There should be a cable as you open the drivers door or passengers door look near floor near the door seal and cant wait for this build, leave it blue
You should do it up like mater and name it repeat . And also to open the storage door there should be a pull cable or a latch by the back of the drivers seat by the door .
There should be some little cables hanging behind the seat one on the driver side and one on the passenger side if it has one on the passenger side just pull the cable. You just slam it to shut it back I would say you will probably have to oil it to get it to shut. My dad’s Frieghtliner was the same way. That truck looks like it has a Cummins of some sort in it probably a 350 big cam Or something along that lines.
