    I think there's recent and more positive update since this video has been made: Contactless payments can now be used on all Dutch public transport. This eliminates the need to buy an ov-chipcard. Simply check-in and check-out using your smartphone or contactless bank card, making it much easier than having to buy an ov-chipcard.

      Hi, so is it possible to pay with the phone wallet by activating NFC? that's great

    i live in NL my whole life and use public transportation almost daily.
    In my opinion this video will only frustrate a new visitor.
    you did not explain WHY you should check in, where to get OV card, and how to put money on it.
    only real ethicet is to hold the door behind you open for the next person.

    The WiFi one killed me.
    It is true, when it is there it can work like a charm but it often either won’t let you connect it straight up does not exist.

    travelling with the train in the netherlands is only confusing for foreigners and tourists who dont know where to go, wich makes sense, because if i would be in a foreign country travelling with train everything would be confusing for me as well.

    My question would be. How do I find first class seat? Is there a separate wagon or is just seats market with 1 class?

    • @lizannif
      @lizannif Před 2 lety +1

      There's numbers on the outside of the trains. One and two so you know where first class is before stepping inside. Inside it's usually a different seat colour and seperated by a glass door or different wagon.

      The seats are usually red (compared to blue 2nd class seats)
      Also, on the outside of the train there’s a blue stripe under or above the window where the first class is located. Much easier to recognize

      @@jungledatforest Yup! You can place them near your seat, almost every coach has 4 seats with space in between (in the middle of the coach), this would be a perfect spot!

      @@hamzacelik177 Unfortunately there's no way I know of to get a bike with cash, however there are plenty of bike rental services where you can pay by card! They're usually located near bigger train stations.

    • @maxvandenberg955
      @maxvandenberg955 Před 4 lety +3

      Ofc not. But most people don’t mind getting onto a train (and yes they include the poor, the average, above and below average and the wealthy). That goes for probably all PT. And remember they don’t have to.
