  • I'm an artist that brings history back to life by creating famous figures from the past in the modern day. I think the modern-day creation brings them closer to us, reminding us that they were just people too. Today’s subject is the mysterious Lady of Elche statue, which has puzzled archeologists for over a century. It has been called everything from an ancient Iberian masterpiece to a lost artifact of Atlantis. What did the statue look like in the past? What was it used for? Let’s first dive in with some history, and then of course I’ll reveal my statue recreations.

And for those eager to jump in with the phrase , 'the statue was found the south of Spain therefore it is Punic. Let address this issue. According the Greek classical sources the Iberians are indigenous to the area; it is why we call Spain and Portugal as being the whole of Iberian peninsula. And yes the Carthaginians established trading posts. But the Greeks built colonies there as well as they also did in Southern coast of France. Neither makes France or Spain Punic or Greek
