  • Sharpe's Justice is a British television drama, the 13th of a series that follows the career of Richard Sharpe, a fictional British soldier during the Napoleonic Wars.
Unlike most of the other instalments of the series, this episode was not based on a novel by Bernard Cornwell.
A key scene in the story is based on the Peterloo Massacre of 1819, reset here to Keighley in Yorkshire, in 1814. (Source Wikipedia)

Hi folks- Believe it or not I was a member of the Sharpe appreciation society and went on trips to Waterloo and the Spanish peninsular- the author Bernard Cornwell accompanied us- never got to meet Sean alas, but did meet some of the other cast at our first general meeting - I did find a human hip bone at Waterloo though! X

The Sharpe series was absolutely cracking TV . I have watched every episode more than once. Shape's Justice was the next to last episode covering the Napoleonic Wars. Sean Bean reprised the role of Sharpe in 2008 but set in India. I never knew until now that some of the filming was done at Helmshore. Although I've only just watched your video you have made my day 😊

I love visiting places where films or tv shows have been made. Trying to match up some of the scenes and getting a buzz when finding them 🤣 We have a couple more videos lined up like this from other TV shows.

Many thanks Dave! I remember only watching a couple of episodes so never really got into it. But I do remember the hype when they came filming close to where I live but unfortunately, we never got to meet or even saw Sean Bean.

@@daveflick12 We seem to pick up a flurry of new subscribers and we cannot thank them (or you) enough. But then we lose one or two, so its up and down but thats how it goes. I think because we, for the moment, are travelling locally to cover the stories due to the poor weather, the topics wont be as interesting to many folk, which I fully understand. But as soon as it becomes a bit more calmer, we have a small black notebook full of locations we want to visit which are further away. At the end of this year, we are over in Rome, so keep an eye out for something we plan to record whilst out there as well. We are also going to be covering more darker stories from our Victorian past, which seem to go down well with most of who follow us.

Hi Clive, thanks for watching and clarifying the year. It's a story we have looked into, the Peterloo Massacre, but one which I think needs lots of research to do it justice. I'm interested in the 200th anniversary event, so anything you can share or I can help with, I'd be more than interested in looking into.

Peterloo, not Waterloo. Two completely different 'battles'.
