We do that here in PNG. Initially there were concerns on privacy but that's all died down. One person is allowed to register up to six different SIMs to his/her name.
There are a few potential disadvantages to consider:
1. Privacy concerns: Registering your SIM card means providing personal information to the telecom company, which could be used for marketing purposes or potentially accessed by third parties.
2. Security risks: If your personal information is compromised, it could be used for identity theft or other fraudulent activities.
3. Limited anonymity: Registering your SIM card ties it to your identity, reducing your anonymity if you prefer to keep your communications private.
4. Government surveillance: In some countries, registered SIM cards can be subject to government monitoring or surveillance.
5. Inconvenience: If you lose your SIM card or need to switch devices frequently, having a registered SIM card may require additional steps for replacement or activation.

Just only start for us in Solomon Islands while the rest of the world been doing this for so long time now .
Do not register and stop using cell phones use land lines or nothing cause Big Brother is watching and listening.
Its high time to regulate SIM cards and that process of registering it is overdue but its good its been rolled out for implementation.
Cyber bullying is very high to the level it is uncontrollable. There were high number of suicides as a result to cyber bullying in the Solomon Islands. There were no cyber legislation in place so we expect cyber bullying to continue with alot of victims expected. The process of registering SIM cards will ensure some control mechanisms in place through legal process to track and identify issues amount to criminal and civil issues that may have victims.

Just like in PNG, it will be enforced till it will die out as it will be too much to keep up with. People scattered everywhere.
Without privacy, there is no point in being an individual
Every other developed country have their sim cards registered to enhance security, prevent fraud and ensure accountabilty to use of telecommunication services. Solomon Islands should follow suit.
Why? Concerned on how our telecommunication not work pretty well, but try to implementing another system to affecting our country, try to address how telekom still our money from topup services through water, power, banking and other topup service.the telekom company stoll our money,, but for myself if Digicel I will agree to the new system.😊
I think it's not really nice wether you registered it or not the country cannot move forward since our leaders never first address the nation's issues instead.
Is sim card sink down the economy of this nation. We are looking forward to see anti corruption bill.😂😅
