Greatest back 9 I’ve ever seen in golf was in the 3rd round. My goodness it was breathtaking. I live in the Chicago area so it was around 9-10pm when he was finishing his back 9 but I did not go to sleep until his eagle putt dropped on 18. It was well worth staying up for. And then Dan Hicks quote gave me goosebumps. “Get the knee up on ice Tiger. You’ve got another 54 hole lead in a major championship and I don’t think he’s attained that kind of position quite like he did today. This has been absolutely remarkable”.
That putt he dropped on 13 was exactly why he is the best to ever do it. I often say if I had a Time Machine the first thing I would do is make sure he never met that Swedish nanny.
Johnny miller was one of the best announcers ever, his level of golf knowledge is incredible. He doesn’t get enough credit sometimes. Miss you in the MIC Johnny, also shoutout to my boy Roger what a legend as well.
According to Steve Williams, the tournament changed at 35:23. Steve asked him if he wanted to continue after the shot in the rough hurt him and Tiger said "I'm winning this fucking tournament."
Of all his achievements, this goes down in my book as his greatest. A U.S. Open with 5 rounds on a seriously injured knee is a feat no other could accomplish.
Fun to watch. Played Torrey Pines so many times in late seventies/early eighties. I remember 6 Bucks? Maybe that was the twilight fee? I ain't that good, but I shot my best round ever on South course, 85. Plus, I got to watch Arnold Palmer play the North course. Watching him play was a thrill.
@@philipcrow3806 - Loved it. Played the downtown course at Balboa Park, too. Now, it's about $30/40 where I play, which I guess ain't bad for 40 years later.
I was there for the second and third round of the 2008 US Open. I was on the 14th hole in round 3 where the drives would land. I stayed there until Tiger came through where I was. Before Tiger made the putt on 13, it was a little quiet except for a few people that were in the crowd near me. Then the noise on 13 started to grow and grow, and it took a few seconds before the loud noise reached where I was. Unfortunately Tiger’s tee shot on 14 landed about 10 yards behind me, so I was miffed about that.

2:11:48 I watched this live and it was unbelievable. I mean the tension was real. Then BAM! Rolls in a bouncing putt to force a playoff, which is harder to do than if you were tied since you can still miss and play on.
PGA Tour is nearly dead when you look at tournaments like this.. TIger v Roko... they dont make them like this anymore. The PGA Tour is in desperate need to be revitalized.
2:12:39 Rocco DENIED.... like Bob May in 2000 @ Valhalla (Louisville, KY), he knew that was his best shot at winning his maiden major, and came up just a hair short. total heartbreak. Probably never gonna see another playoff like that again.
Thank you so much for this upload. This is the greatest golf video ever. Three hours of the greatest golf ever played in history. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Am so glad this video does NOT hv the asinine comments on the screen...often covering the hole itself (at the bottom of the screen!). So didn't watch any such videos of past matches. Amazing though that Tiger was so far back in the first two rounds...I did watch the tourney live when it happened :)

I know we’re all gonna remember 🐅 but the groupings for this Open was special. 1-2-3 in the OWGR (TW, Phil, Adam) and then throughout the event every 1st & 2nd round tee time was fun. Would be awesome if someone could FU with them @usga?
52:16 a buddy and I are standing just off camera to the left, about 50ft back on the balcony of the Lexus Tent. The dude looked in so much pain walking up to that tee. Or so I remember, it was open bar.
@United States Golf Association (USGA) Thanks for the excellent video; it's nearly as exciting as when I watched it live. If you ever go back and edit the audio again, please remove the audio of individuals who are alone screaming "in the hole" or "one time" (particularly on the par threes); it's not only annoying, but the sudden jump in sound volume gives me a headache as I'm sure it does others. Thank you.
Btw USGA, Great upload!! Could you all please produce additional "all shots" tournament videos (especially Tiger's?) Lol. The hour shorts are fantastic, however many of TW's charges and great shots were made in the early rounds and the short films didn't always capture them. For example, were Tiger say at the end of the first round 5 shots back even par, to the second round segment of him being at 8 under at the top of the leaderboard without seeing the shots of his advance, save his killer daggers. That being said THIS ALL SHOT(S) VIDEO TOTALLY KILLS IT!!! How about the 100th U. S. Open at Pebble Beach? Thank you U.S.G.A!!!! This is why I'm subscribed!
Hi Craig- thanks for the support! It's not quite every shot he hit, but our History Makers episode about Tiger's 2000 performance shows his best moments from each round and can be found here: czcams.com/video/dgf0dQbemvc/video.html
Can anyone explain to me the lack of low scores? I just started keeping up with golf over the past few years, and it just surprised me that the leaders in this US open weren’t posting low scores like I see all the time today
US Opens are notorious for being the toughest tests, but today's versions have been noticeably "easier" based on course setup. US Opens from earlier years had an emphasis on long rough and baked out greens to keep scores near even par. If you find highlights, look at the 2006/2007 US Open for a serious look at a brute of a tournament.
It's odd that Tiger virtually always needed the 54-hole lead at majors to close the deal on Sunday. I know that he finally won from behind at the 2019 Masters, but it's just weird that Tiger never came from behind to win a major in his prime.
as a San Diegan, I will say there is nothing special about torrey pines, we've always said if this course was 20 minutes inland it would be a $40 round, still cool to watch the tour play the course
It pretty much is 40 a round if you live in the city limits. The setting alone makes it worth double that. Shitty places like The Vineyard are about 80 and Torrey clears that by multiple times.
Tiger had a deal with the the camera watch me grimace every time I hit a bad shot . Don't watch me for the two rounds I hit good shots because I walk just fine after those
I believe Rocco could have won this if he had concentrated on being more competitive than just laughing and having a good time. Appleby and Rocco pretty much gave this away. Congrats Tiger

You’re wrong. Mr Gilmore accomplished that feat no more than an hour ago
