Such a legend, gone way too soon. This song means so much more now, knowing maybe that's what he felt like. I wish I could have done something to stop it. You're talent will live on Jason
I remember watching this as a child back in 2012. Now it's 2024, TLK is still my favourite movie, and this performance still remains in my head. It will live on in my life forever.
Every time I come across a video of him performing especially this song, I can't help but want to break down in tears knowing that he isn't with us. i never saw him, never knew the guy until youtube, but i just feel a connection every time for some reason.

Today, February 3, 2024 marks 20 years since Jason's death. It's a shame he decided to take his own life too soon. I don't judge him, he had his reasons and we must respect that, I just hope you now are in a better place and at peace. Always remembered never forgotten. Rest in peace Jason Raize Rothenberg.

I'm truly sorry for what happened to Jason. I can only imagine what it was like to be friends with such a beautiful and talented soul. While I never had the honor of seeing Jason perform live I did listen to the cast album for The Lion King when I was a young girl and I absolutely loved Jason as Simba. Please accept my condolences and prayers 🙏 ❤ 😢

I did not see the musical until 2005 (sadly the year after Mr. Raize's tragic passing) But we have the soundtrack album, so it is his voice we hear singing that beautiful music. It is sad to just discover him and discover he is no longer among us.

This is just the saddest thing ever and I was listening to pandora and it came on while I was in class and I just started crying and I couldn't stop all day he's my favorite and I really wish I could have met him I want to be in the lion king as simba when I grow up and I always looked up to him I just can't take it I will cry on this song forevermore

38 years ago 02/01 my father took his life. I've listened to this song every year since it came out, on that day. 19 years ago 02/03 Jason took his life. RIP Jason. You created something so beautiful and touching.

I find it a bit soothing to know that he did in fact have a film credit to his name. He played a main character in the 2003 Disney Film "Brother Bear". At least he had that before his tragic demise.

I guess we'll never know why he killed himself, of course there are rumors, one of them is that he was rejected by his family for being gay. Another rumor I've read is that he was sick with cancer, another rumor I've read according to Wikipedia is that he didn't know what to do next with his career, another rumor is that he was killed by the government. I don't know if any of those are true. Regardless of all this, he was an amazing actor, singer, and dancer. I hope you are at peace. Rest in peace 🕊️ Jason Raize. Still remembered, never forgotten.

I love the Lion King and have seen it live on stage. Unfortunately it was not with Jason. He does a remarkable job with this song and it is hard not to be inspired. However, I find it quite depressing that a song filled with such hope was performed by a man who would later commit suicide. Very sad indeed... RIP
