ECHO DLM-2100SP eForce 56 volt Self Propelled 21" Lawn Mower | First In Depth Look & Mow
In this video I take a first in person look at the new ECHO DLM-2100SP eForce 56 volt self propelled 21" lawn mower. I also show off some of the features of the DLM-2100SP and use it for the first time mowing my own back lawn. The DLM-2100SP is part of ECHO's new lineup of 56 volt battery powered tools they call eForce. This mower is available in either a bare tool or packaged with a charger and 5 amp hour battery.

Let me know in the comments below what you think of ECHO’s new eForce DLM-2100SP self propelled 21” lawn mower.
This new Echo mower is the most underpowered mower on the market.
This mower is a huge failure for Echo.
The effing blades aren't cutting anything
I bought one this morning, I mowed my half acre front yard this afternoon and it did really great with a 48 minute run time on one battery.
Nice 👍 will you be using it just for your own property? Thanks for watching.
So after a year, how's the battery runtime?
Picked mine up Monday along with an additional 5 amp battery and weed eater and blower combo. I’ve cut the yard twice already since😂. I have yet to tap into the second battery when cutting, I’ve bagged each cut and run turbo the entire first cut and double cut on regular today. Weed eater and blower battery (shared) is at 50% after two cuts, so far I’m extremely expressed with this mower compared to my Toro Super Recycler 190cc black. It was 101 degrees when I cut Monday and 94 when I cut at 8pm tonight, zero issues cutting thick St Augustine at 4 inches. It took a couple rows to figure out that I simply needed to let go of self propelled just prior to turning, that eliminated the rear wheel lock up. Thanks for your video.
No problem. Keep an eye on it though. I’ve used mine less then a dozen times now and the self propel has slowed down so much it’s frustrating. It now takes almost the entire battery to cut my 2200 sqft yard. Unfortunately not a mower I would recommend. Best of luck with yours. Thanks for watching.
Sent mine back and bought a gas. Lets be honest folks, this ebattery mower does excellent on flat lawns up to 1/3 sized yards, how ever every video put out on these battery powered lawn mowers are done on level flat lawns. If you have a hillside lawn the mower starts to show why it's a bad investment. The battery life starts running down faster if you have to travese sloped lawns especially if you decide to bag. Manual says up to 70 mins with 2 cells but on a 1/2 acre lawn I only got less than 35 mins going up and down a sloped yard. Within 3 months one cell would no longer fully charge and the second one was not enough to even do the front lawn. I ended up contacting Echo which btw has an excellent customer service and they returned and refunded with an apology. Ended up getting a toro timemaster 30 and have been really happy. I am sure if I had a flat lawn the echo mower would have performed fine. So take this to note before you buy an EV mower on your yard type.
Battery is really coming along ✔️💯💪🏽
Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess 💯💪🏽
That locking up while backing up has been a problem for me with my EGO mower as well, but it seems to have subsided as the mower has broken in. You may find that as well with the Echo.
I tried out the Milwaukee mower and it does not lock up the wheels and was way more powerful. Thanks for watching.
Nice
Got my electric Echo mower and was excited to try it. First time it did well on my small front yard second time after 10mins. of use the self-propelled quit working and battery started flashing even though it was fully charged. Is it a defect or am I doing something wrong ?
Sorry I’m not sure. This was my first initial impression video. I had also done another full review video after a few months of use and unfortunately would not recommend this mower. Thanks for watching.
Nice mower. Can you use the older echo batteries on this?
No unfortunately you can’t. The older battery powered tools ECHO produced used a different voltage. Thanks for watching.
Can someone tell what is happening with battery after one year? Is it run time the same?
Can the self propel be operated without the blade turning for driving it up ramps / sidewalk to the job or does the blade always turn when it’s moving?
Yes it can use the self propel without the blade’s turning but I would not recommend this mower unless if your just a homeowner using it once a week. Even for homeowners I would say there are better alternatives. This mower is not worth the price they are asking in my opinion. Check out the review video I did after using it for awhile. @@LawnCareBusinessSuccess thx for the info. Only reason right now I’ve considered buying one Home Depot is doing a promo where ya get a free 2.5 ah battery with the mower, and it comes w one 5.0 ah already. I use the 56v platform for my trimmer / edger / handheld blower so I’m always looking for new deals on batteries.
Is it 70 minutes runtime on one 5AH battery, or 2 5AH batteries?
Unfortunately I’m not sure. I’ve tried searching the manual and online and the “up to 70 min” is all I could find. Don’t know if that means one battery or two, but probably also means no turbo or self propelled to get that I would guess. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess70 mins on two batterys.
Try letting go and walk in forward a few steps. Then pulling it backwards a lot of times. You have to run it forward after you let go to disengage the motor
Oh I understand and that is exactly what you need to do with this mower. Unfortunately though that is pretty lame considering there are other hydro transmission systems out there that don’t require you to do that. As soon as you release the forward moving bail the transmission disengages the rear wheels and they free rotate. This mower overall is a disappointment. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccessI have a gas mower that you have to do something for. Take a step or two forward after disengaging the self propeller.
Is this set at a fixed height? No adjustment?
Nope it is fully adjustable. All four wheels with one handle. About the only thing good about it. Thanks for watching.
Super cool looks like a greenworks i wonder if its same.... either way the echo one is cooler!!🙂👍
I think it’s made by the same manufacturer as the greenworks residential line. I recently had a chance to look at the greenworks commercial version and while similar in some parts like the deck in other areas like that plastic transmission housing on the echo is all metal on the green works commercial version. Thanks for watching.
How much does a battery cost?
I’m looking on Home Depot and they have the dlm-2100cs, what does cs stand for?
I think it stands for crappy system! 😂 Honestly I don’t know but that’s what I would call it. Watch my honest review of this mower.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess I had to look it up on echo’s website. It comes in three styles dlm-2100bt (mower only), dlm 2100cs (comes with standard charger & a battery) and dlm 2100r2-2 (2 batteries and rapid charger)
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess I was able to find it on their website. It comes in three versions….mower only, mower with battery & charger and I believe it said 2 batteries, mower and charger. The cs was the middle one
@@rickyhawley3482oh ok. If byou still like this mower I would still suggest looking at the greenworks version model LMB454. It’s essentially the exact same mower except it’s the 80V version. Greenworks makes the 56v ECHO version for ECHO. Its Can be bought with one or two batteries and can be found frequently on sale at places like Costco for a much better deal.
I was gonna get this model but ended up getting a STIHL RMA 510v
Probably a good move. I’ve been pretty disappointed in the performance of the ECHO mower. I’m always frustrated when I use it. I would not recommend it to anyone. To be honest I don’t think it’s even worth half of what they are selling for. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess I work a STIHL/cub cadet/echo/yanmar dealer so had my eye on both. I come from the automotive world as a mechanic so I asked our Tech's and all of them said go stihl. Most of them aren't big on electric. But I look as it as less moving parts less repairs. Its the reason I went with the FSA 90r as well it doesn't even have a drive shaft as the electric motor is in the head
I'm a little disappointed that Echo didn't make their own lawn mower. That is an Orange - Greenworks mower.
Yeah me too. Unfortunately this mower is also a disappointment performance wise as well. I would not recommend it. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess you should pin this comment with your opinion of the mower to the video so all see. I am trying to decide if this is worth it without much content to go off of. "wish it was worth it" is the feeling i get. Im almost tempted to get the 58 volt j stead if possible
I was wondering by the shape of the motor housing, if it was Greenworks.
I'm a little bias when comes to Echo, but it seems to run and cut pretty good!👍 It sounds a little loud for battery powered, is it as loud in person or is it the video?
It is pretty loud but loader on camera I think. I think this unit would be good for a homeowner but the jury is still out on weather this would last in a commercial use setting. It seems very light duty. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess no problem, thanks for posting and responding. 💪
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess
Not way is this underpowered flimsy mower ever going to be used by any professional lawn care business build by Echo.
@@ronmatthews2250 If any equipment isn't purposely abused then ECHO has always been great with their warranty. They are one company that really does stand behind their products.
Man I probably would ensure that key was in my pocket before reaching under that deck
Good point. Thanks for watching.
Is self-propelled necessary since it is a light mower?
Depends on your use case. If you’re a homeowner then no you can probably get by without it mowing your own lawn once a week. If you’re a lawn care business then yes you need it. Too many different types of lawns and situations like gravel paths or steep driveways where the self propel is a must to minimize fatigue. Never mind even using for every lawn like you end up doing when you have it. I’d never buy a mower without it. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess thank you!
After a year of ownership you are correct, the Echo mower is junk. Wheels constantly lock in reverse and the mower just about completely dies when the battery switches. Don’t get me started on the horrible speed control button 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
That speed control drove me nuts. Every time I’d turn it would rub against me and slow the mower down. Thanks for watching.
I doubt I could tolerate that higher frequency scraping noise it makes. Sounds like an unlubricated bearing, metal on metal sound.
It’s all round a very cheap mower. Definitely not worth the high price tag they have on it. So many better options available. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccesshe reviews on the Milwaukee version are horrible, too. So, what is your recommendation for a battery powered mower that isn't made of plastic?
Two year commercial don’t make me 😂! Wouldn’t last a month only because it’s echo!
As I mentioned in the video it is built alot lighter duty then a traditional commercial 21 gas mower so will be interesting to see how it holds up. Thanks for watching.
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess it seems to need a little more weight in the front to help it stay down! But definitely looking for the right stuff to!
This mower is way underpowered.
Milwaukee, Ego and Makita has way more power than this super light duty mower.
This mower is so underpowered it is only good to do a light easy maintenance 1" cut.
This mower is a huge Echo mower failure and nobody in the grass cutting business could use such an underpowered mower.
I see your same comment in every Echo video.
This new Echo mower ONLY has a ONE KW motor and ONLY has 3.3 foot pounds of tourque ?
Lol 😂😆😂😆 this mower is way underpowered.
The Ego mower has 8.3 foot pounds of tourque.
The new Milwaukee lawnmower has a 1.6 kw motor and has 10 foot pounds of tourque.
The Makita 21" 4 batteries mower also has a 1.6 kw motor.
This new Echo mower is only good to do a light easy maintenance cut.
I was thinking that Echo was going to come out with a lot stronger and way better mower than this.
This mower is a huge disappointment.
Where did you get these numbers?
@@Peter-ho8zs
Echo
This crappy mower will be a disaster for Echo.
This mower has the smallest and weakest motor of any mowers for sale
Echo only has a 1 kw motor that only produces a pathetic 3 foot pounds of tourque.
Just to compare to other battery mowers for sale.
Milwaukee has 10 foot pounds of tourque.
Ego has 8.4 foot pounds of tourque.
Makita 8 foot pounds of tourque.
Toro 7.25 foot pounds of tourque.
Also the handles on this mower are weak and flimsy.
Who ever designed this week useless mower should be ashamed , embarrassed and fired.
Echo recall everyone of these useless mowers and redesign everything.
Epic fail Echo.
Ok but how do you really feel about it? 😂
