- Learn how to transcribe audio to text faster in this Express Scribe tutorial. Express Scribe is a free transcription software program you can download on your Windows or Mac computer or laptop. Import or load your audio file into the software, and start transcribing your file without having to switch between a text editor and audio player.
I'll also show you how to use the built-in speech to text feature to create a draft transcript that you can later edit.
With Express Scribe, you can work on transcribing multiple audio files at once and switch between your files. You can also insert timestamps, change the volume of the file, change the playback speed, and much more.
This is a great tool to use if you don't have access to reliable internet and need to be able to transcribe your files offline as well. You can use this to transcribe audio recordings for clients, jobs on various transcription platforms, or transcribe your own interviews or CZcams videos.

Sorry to say, I download the Express scribe software but I am not working according you suggestions. .For testing I recorded my own voice then file up then take it on auto typing page , heard my own voice but is not done automatically typing . I didn't find out that problem there. please suggest me, thanks.
Hello Jennifer, I didn't get how to use the speech to text option - I imported the dictation file, clicked on it and then clicked on the S2T option at the top - nothing happened. How to activate the option for the dictation file? (there is a gap of what you did between 9:10 and 9:11 - so that's missing)
Your tutorial was very helpful! I have to insert a time stamp every 30 seconds for a particular client. Do you have a tutorial that shows me how to do that using Express Scribe and Audacity?
Will it work on a Mac? Can you adjust the font size? That font is way too small for me.

You. Just put life back into my job search! I purchased a foot pedal and the professional version of express scribe and did not have a clue.
Select the speech recognition engine from the Engine drop-down list. If you do not see any engines in the pull-down list, then you have not fully installed your speech recognition software or it is not SAPI compliant.
this is one issue again.

Hi Jennifer, when I click ok on speech to text box, I am getting error as "invalid profile" as Engine : showing Microsoft speech Recognizer 8.0 for windows(English - US).

Hi Jen, I could honestly use your help, so when I do 'speech to text' and of course my 'Engine' is Microsoft speech recognizer 8.0 for windows but the are no options available for 'Default profile'. What are those options and what can I do to get those options?

I'm trying to follow this tutorial to try out Express Scribe and find that when I try to load an MP3 file, a pop-up box pops up (ha) and says: "We hope you have enjoyed your free trial..." and tells me I have to buy Express Scribe Pro "to use this feature"! Try otranscribe. It is also absolutely free. I don't think it has the option to convert speech to text, but I think it is a great way to assist transcriptionists.
Hey Jennifer, any chance you know how to slow down the speed of a track, let’s day to 75%, and keep like that all throughout? Because when I do it manually, it automatically eventually changes back to the original speed of 100%. Thanks:) 🙏🏼
you can assign keyboard shortcuts to adjust speed in the event that it goes back to 100 by itself. Mine are F10 for 100%, f11 for 50% which came preset with the software, and F3 for 270% which I programmed to use when proofreading because that's how fast l tend to read when scanning for errors.
At the top, you can click Options and then Playback to adjust the speed

How do I do line breaks between speakers when there are only two of them? It says Do NOT designate speakers with speaker tokens such as Q and A. Should I line breaks exactly like this:
Example:
The first speaker: You can ask for help again
Second speaker: I will when I have the time
First speaker again: okay, I will be here if you need more help.
Should I do it like that, except not writing first and second speaker since it says “not to designate speakers with speaker tokens such as Q and A, right?

You have to type manually. Can't you hear me typing? This isn't an automatic software sadly. It is manual.
