Ok, thats an amazing idea. Probably the coolest woodworking idea I have seen for a long time, if maybe ever.
i said this almost word for word.
yeah, i always wanted my hand plane to weight 10 times more and make noise
🤣🤣🤣🤣@@bastiat691
There's router planes, then there's plane routers. Totally gonna steal this idea, thanks!
I never would have imagined such a planer, but that is pretty cool.
This idea seemed so obvious when I saw it, I slapped myself for not thinking of it. Brilliant. Your craftsmanship is top notch.
Awesome idea for taking the jointer to the material!
First actually useful 'new' jig I've seen in years, well done!
Wow this is amazing! Appreciate that you combined two common tool together to make yet another amazing tool.
Thank you. Have a good day
That's is the best idea I have seen that last decade!
As a person learning so i can afford upgrades to my home. This is fabulous. Im guessing bc as im looking at tools i need to get started. Planners are way more than I can afford so im watching this carefully!!!!
Thank You!!! And now a new subscriber + 👍🏾/share....for this alone. Looking forward to more of your videos 🫡🎉
Hand-plane shavings are WAY easier to deal with than all that sawdust!!
^my thoughts exactly
It looks louder, messier, and more dangerous than an electric planer.
Well, you’re not wrong. But a router’s going to make quick work.
@@MyFatherLoves Based on the video demos, the router takes a LOT longer than the hand plane. Especially when flattening the face of the board.
@@evanvandyke9819 I don't think that's a fair assessment, unless you're talking about an electric hand plane. That board had a fairly large crown and a lot of wood needed to be removed to flatten it. An electric router can easily take a heavier cut than virtually any of us can take with a hand plane. The router bit is about 2-1/4" in diameter, which means it takes a wider cut than a standard width bench plane (2") and a slightly narrower width than a #5-1/2 bench plane (2-3/8"). Since the router can take away more wood with each pass (heavier/deeper cut), and each pass is as wide, or wider, than a bench plane; this contraption should be much faster at flattening boards.
I expect the bench plane will leave a nicer surface, and it will be more enjoyable to use, but it won't be faster.
Are people not satisfied to watch and enjoy video that is essentially presented to them for free. What he has done is fun and imaginative. I suspect he has a technique for using it in a way that is beneficial. It does not take much to be a negative Nelly and critique everything that comes along. I know it makes people who do feel like giants in their expertise. The reality is they are little people who cannot seem to enjoy life.
That is the coolest plane I ever saw.
you know how long its been since ive seen a woodworking tool hack that havent seen and is a good idea!! im actually going to build me one of these this weekend!! maybe even convince myself to get a dedicated router for it as well! ty sir!!
Excellent idea and I do have a Dewalt. I'm swamped with projects right now, but I'll be saving this video and will make one of these for myself.. thank you..
It’s amazing what you can do with a good jig 😊l have always been a favour of jigs and made a few in my time 😊
Undoubtedly, definitely, that’s the tool of the century. Full credit to the tool operator. Thanks.
It's amazing ! I've never seen such idea before! 👍👍👍 Thank you! 🤝
Well done!!! Thanks so much for the idea! Best, Stu
You are truly talented, just WOW.
Dewalt, Makita, Ryobi....all of you toolmakers, this guy is on to something awesome.
This is simple and a genius idea! Very clever and well done congratulations ❤
What a great idea going to have to try this. Thanks for sharing
This is fantastic--thank you.
Like a fly cutter for wood. Genius.
Duuuudee.. this is absolutely ingenious!
Amazing! Thank You for sharing.

Brilliant idea, just the perfect new life for my Dad's almost vintage router
Absolutely Brilliant !! Thank You for sharing. 🙏 Namaste
really awesome, never saw this before and it is top tier
I was thinking of getting a planer but I think I’ll wait and make this version….thanks for the help ❤❤
Give it a try and leave a comment.
That router bit will set you back at least the price of a powered planer, unless you opt for a lower quality bit, which is known to cost you more when you'll have to replace it more often. The time and materials spent to make this abomination will also be forever lost. Buy a planer and a $50 random orbit sander, they will be a lot cheaper to run in the long run, they will do their job as designed, and not to mention you won't have to come up with awkward explanations when anyone asks what's up with that weird tool.
Amazing and certainly pro work. ❤
Very cool idea !
Great job man,Jesus bless you
FANTASTIC!
excellent craftsmanship - this is the best woodworking video i've seen in quite some time - very well thought out !
Your a wizard Harry!
Beautiful!
Great work. Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful idea!!
I’m a professional, carpenter and a professional guitar maker. This is a very good idea.
I have some huge routers and assorted bits, ill have to make the 3D pantograph copier ive always wanted to make! I'd forgotten, but this sparked the idea again!
Thank you for watching.
I'm gonna make one of these with an m18 router. LOVE this. This old fart loves my Nielsen jointer plane, and the "lovely" thin strips it makes, but it takes a quick toll on your body!!! Already drew it / planed it out and put the bits and router in my Amazon cart!
sadly you don't get the satisfaction of a NICE LONG CHIP. But also you don't get the fight of a lifetime when you find a knot xD
That is brilliant.
I like those router bits
Ficou top parabéns
Fantastic, this is a true MacGyver solution. You earned my sub.☺
Awesome idea love it
Great invention!
Thank you for this video.
Brilliant!!
When you start mass producing these jigs and selling then online, please share the link. I'll likely buy both jigs for my miniscule woodwork adventures. 🥰
I would try to make one myself, but I do not have a shop of proper equipment like you. Yes... I envy your shop and others like it.
Seriously, thank you for sharing this. I am sure many people will take this idea with them into their woodworking travels.
Veramente intellingente. Complimenti
Grazie buona giornata
This is too funny. I just thought of this last week when doom scrolling videos and wondered if anyone had ever done it. Well done!
Yeh of course you did!!
NICE! Love it!
Pretty slick!
So a planer that produces saw dust instead of shavings. IT COULD BE USEFUL FOR SOME STUFF! And i love how you are finding a new use for an existing tool. My only complaint is...saw dust.
Genius design!
In lieu of a planet I guess that i would go for that! Nice job.
Show de bola meu amigo parabéns k Deus à abençoe sempre
Brilliant!!!
Awesome idea.
Pure genius I even have that router. You could do a long body plane as well.
buenisima idea 👌👌👌
Very cool contraption, and beautiful craftsmanship! Ignore the haters, keep on doing your thing!
Thank you. Have a good day
Endlich mal was Neues! Finally something new!
Ci siamo quasiiii!!!!!🤩🤗
Thats a neat jig 👍
Excelente idea 👍
👍😉
Maate, you are genius 😀
That genius!
Game changer!!!
Very good idea 🎉and cool to thanks
Waoo😮 il fallait y penser. Idée géniale bravo 😀
I'll be honest this is one of more creative ideas I've seen. I'm surprised how well it works. However, the biggest advantage of using normal plane is the surface quality it leaves. If you use plane, the wood will last much longer.
Love the interesting concept. I would like to believe it would work well for smaller less income shops like mine. But I may see
Brillant!
Wonderful design
😉👍
That's brillinat!!!

This is genius!
👍😂
Very interesting idea. I like the way you incorporated a dust control channel from slightly behind the router bit to the front of the plane base. I don’t understand the need for the rear channel? Doesn’t the rear recess area cause an instability in some situations? I wonder if the rear recess is needed, and if it is, maybe a cross hatch pattern might be an improvement?
Very very cool. Just needs a dust chute for a vacuum and you’d really have something amazing.
Pretty cool
Eine richtig gute Idee !!!
great idea, I can see only a small edge of the router bit being used and worn though.
Genius!
Great idea.
Thank you. Have a good day
Genius!!!
Ingenious
This is hilarious! I really love it. 😂🤣
You turned your router into a jointer plane? It's so crazy, it just might work!
It produces pretty good results.👍😉
That is a cool idea 💡 😎.
super idea 👌👍
I've been thinking about doing that.
