The Alu Start is a great products, but what about the thermal bridge it can generate? Aluminum as we know has a high conductivity.
Yes, aluminum has a thermal conductivity bigger than timber. The shape and hollow section of ALUSTART, similar to the one of aluminum frames for windows, help to reduce it but it remains a little bit bigger than timber.
We did many evaluations during the development of the product, including some FEM thermal analysis, together with the University of Bolzano.
The result was that, inside a complete wall configuration, including internal and external finish layers, including the thermal insulation, and using a concrete foundation correctly insulated, the additional thermal bridge given by ALUSTART was negligible. We demonstrated it making comparative FEM analysis with and without ALUSTART.
