Thank you for watching this What to eat in Poland - 10 dishes to try in Poland video!
On a very cold day in Chicago about 20 years ago we ate at a Polish place in a blue collar neighborhood. I had sauerkraut broth with a large boiled potato -- sounds very simple -- but it was one of the best meals I've ever had.
Oh i can imagine why. John, if you ever wonder - that soup is called Kapuśniak. I am half polish after all ;)
Are poles still in Chicago?
I live in London in an area with a lot of Polish people. There are two huge supermarkets near me which are heaven to shop in. I'm always looking for new things to try and it is lovely food. It reminds me of the kind of hearty food my mother used to make in the 50s and 60s, designed to fill your tummy and make you smile! The staff in the supermarkets are lovely too, and will always answer any questions about the food.
That’s great. Polish food is delicious - no wonder that you are looking for some inspiration 😀 Ptasie mleczko is one of my favorite polish sweets - I would recommend that in case you haven’t tried it. I think a have a whole video about shopping Polish sweets from 2 years ago. There is a lot of inspiration in case you are interested
@@cooking-the-world I will check it out! 👍

I am going to Gdansk soon in Oct and cannot wait to try every dish there. Thanks for the video!!!!
Oh you will love it there
I grew up on Polish food, but I love to eat anything as long as it is fresh.
This is making me feel so hungry! Polish food is delicious. We are lucky to have so many Euro shops in the UK so we can buy Polish food. Poland is a beautiful country that I have been lucky enough to visit 5 times over the years.
Brilliant video as ever, thank you so much for posting. 🙂
Im from CanCun Mexico and would love to try Polish Food. Looks soo good!
I'm not Polish, but my family is German and Austrian, and I'm from Pittsburgh, so I'm already familiar with several of these - pierogi, cabbage rolls and the cucumber / sour cream salad. These all look delicious
Thanks! they were!:) Some of you are so international in the US:)
@@cooking-the-world it was almost like being at a family reunion. Nobody ever brings pierogi but almost always someone brings cucumber salad & cabbage roles (we call them halupki), although we always have lots of totally American food too. Someone always brings KFC, bags of potato chips and store-bought cookies LOL
I have spotted Polish Mayonnaise on sale in our local Lidl store and it tastes so much better than the more expensive Hellmanns or Heinz varieties.
Was that Kielecki? I think that's the only one I know;)
@@cooking-the-worldThere’s one more popular than Kielecki - it’s Winiary.
What would the world do without the amazing south America potatoes ? I live and grow up with polish people and we love polish foods, especially in the winter months ! such good comfort food. ✌💕🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
When it’s about your American potatoes - I don‘t know, we don’t eat them here in Europe ;) I am glad that you like Polish food so much, and good that winter is coming 🤩
I have never been to Poland and i ate all these stuffs 😁😁and they are amazing...thanx to my friend Ewelina😘
I loved my babcias food
@@robertfuller1866 me too
I'm English but my partner is Polish, I'm hoping to learn more about her countries food and hopefully one day cook her some food from home! Thanks for the video was very informative and helpful 👍
Oh James that will be lovely. Some of the polish dishes are difficult, if I were you I would go for stews, like Bigos or Fasolka po Bretonsku. But if you are not scared of anything every polish person I know loves pierogi. If those are to difficult Krokiety would also do;) Good luck James!
I have a friend who has been traveling in Poland. He's been taking pictures of the restaurants he's been visiting. I came here to see if there were any foods I should try to make. To find out, I already make most of these. My grandmother's family is from Poland. I am so thankful that they passed these down and I had the chance to learn how to make these when I was young.
This is so great! My grandmother came also from Poland and we still cook according to her recipes. In the next video i will have more dishes to show;)

1 Żurek/Rosół , 2 Rolada, kluski i czerwona kapusta/ Pierogi. Na deser sernik, albo ciasto z kruszonką z nadzieniem np. rabarbarem i kompot wiśniowy 💞 Polska baby. Tu się je, tylko dobrze .
I'll try anything once but them Polish yummies look thinking bout a second time🤤
Wow!!! Real food!!,,,got to cook something!!...lol
delicious Polish Dishes yummy .
I love potato pancakes.
I can tell you - and your husband - really enjoy the food you feature. Your massive mouthfuls of food are, one supposes, a genuine compliment to any chef.
Thanks for this. It reminds me of dishes my beloved polish grandma made.
SAME!!😀😀
I look forward to visiting Poland next year.

This food looks so delicious. Probably i will visit Gdańsk in 2020, cause my best friend's girlfriend is from Poland. I will eat all these dishes.
You won’t regret it! I have been to Poland this month so there are another 2 videos regarding Poland coming up in January! Have a safe journey and fun in Poland!
So I love everything from Poland, the food is very good, bigos, placki etc. everything tastes good. The people are warm and have humor. However, I am German with a Polish background.
I work with some awesome Polish guys and girls. Been trying out some of their suggestions and hope one day I can make it to Poland. One day 👍
Everything looks so good!
Oh, and the potato pancakes. Maybe it is a national Belarussian dish, but only in the version you described. The potato pancakes WITH SUGAR (crystals!) i.e. plyndze zez cukrym is a national dish in Great Poland / Wielkopolska! Yummy! ^2 ;)
Yes, I second that. I. I am from Wielkopolska and in my family, we eat potato pancakes with sugar! Yummy!
I am polish and i all ways had it with suger so souer cream is new to me

Oh yes the potato pancakes are the best
✓ Traditional pierogi ✓ Traditional gołąbki
✓ Traditional potato panckates: My 3 favorite meals. I also like warm beet soup. YUM!!!
I wiuld love to see more Polish foods. It is very interesting and looks 😋delicious.
Super and you explained it so nicely
I needed to make a report for Poland for my school. Thanks for the help on one of the slides in my presentation!

i noticed earlier that germany and poland share traditional recipes but this video just proofs it xD
Amazing Poland
Yummy!!!!! Thank you!!
Goose roast is a remarkable Polish speciality.
I love the plate presentation, looks amazing.
From which dish?;)
My grandmother's parents were Lithuanian and she grew up eating very similar cuisine, and cooked it for me when I was a child. She made kielbasa, golumpkis, and a bunch of other things, and wonderful desserts. There are some similarities to some Lithuanian and Polish diesh. BTW, Pope John Paul II had a Lithuanian mother.
His mother was Polish, born in Biała, near Wadowice
Maybe she was Lithuanian in spirit😊. Since we ve never heard this in his 25 yr service ,I have to go with a Polish Lady!
I'm polish and hungry so I'm trying to find something nice that I want to look for and eat🤗
Can't go wrong with good old faithful pierogi ruskie :)
All sound delicious
Outstanding
Sounds really nice and appetising.
Real hearty food.
Thank you and thats right!

Great video! I visited a Polish shop in the UK for the first time yesterday and wanted an excuse to buy some different ingredients!

@@cooking-the-world Kabanos, pickled herrings and 4 bottles of Radler drinks.......just to start with!

These are great choices. I also love zrazy.

Nice dishs, bigos 👍👍👍
I loveee all these dishe’s I ate them in Poland before
Thank you Keira, that means a lot to us! You need to let me know which one you like the most. I bet pierogi!:)

Dzieki wielkie na obejrzenie i pozdrowienia z Niemiec :)
Mieszkam w Holandii i tu niestety jedzenie fatalne :( .
New Subscriber! I love to learn and eat to eat food from all around the world! Great channel!
Thanks ☺️
This is comfort food . I am half polish and I still make pierogies and stuff cabbage the way my Grandma did to date. Potato cakes or ( Blenies) as we call them, are a summer church item that we stand in line for as they are so good. Mostly I make stuffed cabbage in late summer and freeze to have At Christmas and Easter in the spring.
Glad you keeping the traditions alive ;)
Im polish and I can confirm except I think the best dumplings are meat dumplings and bigos is not really a stew because there is not a lot of liquid like there would be in a stew.
Are you shoe polish, furniture polish, fingernail polish? Or are you Polish???
It's my 1st time seeing such video from my city🤩Pozdrawiam z Gliwic 😀
How delicious is this
It tastes very much like Italian. I liked it very much
I ate the dumpling for the first time today, it was so awesome
with cream cheese & potato filling, the meat once or the sauerkraut and mushroom once?
@@cooking-the-world the first one
These are my favorite once! Good choice 👍
Those roulades are known also in Wielkopolska, so they are not 100% silesian ;) I live close to Gniezno and my grandma used to make them the same way, but she added also a bit of bread crust inside.
What about the kluski noodles and chodnina ( czarnina) I grew up eating!!! I loved simple and lumped kluski. Once you pull from the water and drain. Then you put in a fry pan with butter and sugar...YUM!
Cabbage rolls my favorite
You forgot about polish pyzy and kopytka ☺ Made of potates, wheat and meat. By the way - rosol is the most popular soup in Poland, not only in Silesium Region.
Thanks dear! We filmem the second part of this video last week, and we included pyzy, and another 9 dishes there: Polish Dishes to try PART 2- What to eat in Warsaw - Best Polish Food czcams.com/video/M5mKKL8Asjs/video.html :)
I want to learn to cook a polish traditional classic food. Show me the recipe thanks godbless
There are plenty of recipe out there, I am sure you will find some :) that’s not really my area of expertise:)
hahahaha i eat those everyday coming from a polish family, but my grandma is the best polish cooker tho, and she always will be
Holy bleep!! The cucumber salad, my mother used to make that and i never seen it anywhere else and if you search cucumber salad you get a bunch of results that arent even close.
It's amazing! Well, I didn't know we share same kitchen too. 6 of 10 dishes are russian/ukrainian traditional kitchen we always use to cook in our homes :) and 4 dishes are probably Polish traditional kitchen I would love to try in the future :) thank you for sharing!!
I am sure that those dishes we share taste different in Ukraine or Russia. And I need to go and try it for myself;) it’s beautiful how cuisines involved and inspired each other here in Europe. I dream of going to East Europe to eat finally!☺️
@@cooking-the-world absolutely!!! Plus every chef uses his/her own skills of cooking! That would be great to try something you know but in its way New. Hope you will come and try, I'm sure you are gonna have some of your favourite!! I make plans to visit Poland and some other countries when the situation with that virus ends haha
Hello
I want to explore my families culture so I am watching this
Good luck
Wonderful!👍
So many amazing delicious foods; some are similar to Asia cooking.
I know some polish people went abroad to Taiwan 🇹🇼 be university students or sightseeing; the most of Taiwan’s people are friendly, there’re many countries’ people and dishes there, Taiwan’s people always welcome you and hope have opportunity to enjoy your delicious dishes; promote your foods to Taiwan 🇹🇼 is welcomed always.
Western Europe has a lot of Asia influences, thats for sure :)
Great vid I'm hungry now. What should be mentioned like with all food there are as many varieties and recipes (everyone has their own secret recipe) as there are households. For example the hunters stew Bigos, I love it when my grandma and my mom make it (they add dried wild mushroom) but when one of my uncles make his variation I want to cry and run, no idea for sure what he does to it that makes me loose my appetite I one for sure he adds raisins and/or prunes and shredded apple(too much of that makes me want to run)
Hahaha! You are right about the recipes. But to be honest I have never seen raisins, apples or prunes in a bigos. Interesting where this idea comes from..
You know that Poles call bigos the dish of the gods because only god knows what's in it. 😂
Nice 👍
Only thing i dont like is Gołąbki. But its one of best summaries of polish food. All meals are awailable in whole country. We have regional things like oscypek or cebularz but this dishes are so polish that you can find them in every part of Poland. As for krokiety and pierogi we have non classic options (depends on the maker). I ate mexican style krokiety (love it) and salmon or duck meat pierogi. Long stry short- polish food is amazing;)
Yeah its shame really that the regional cuisine is not really found in the restaurants. That makes it hard to discover. Here in Germany this is completely different story and I love it.
Wszystkie som super
Poland is bordering with Nothern Germany, I think, so they could have many common cuisines. Yet I'm expecting much more interesting and tasty Polish foods other than just common ones with German.. Im expressing my Thanks for your extending so delicious cuisines to beyond Germany. Cheers up up
Ive never had the cucumber salad but my babcia and ma used to make tomato salad which is the same except tomato instead of cucumber
I love rosol 😍🥰😍
Yeah baby!
Really Delicious Luv from California
Thank you so much Linda!
Fun fact: devolaille are also known in belgium under different name. Pretty much same preparation and ingridients.
Good
Yummmmmmmmmm!

Love all of these dishes but where are the kopytka they’re my favorite
Oh Alexa, the List would be much longer if I included everything:)

@@MeshCosta That's not true.
Fajny film :) Rosół je się chyba w całej Polsce?
Też mi się tak wydaje
Racja, ale nie wiem jak to poprawic. Napisalam juz w komentarzu. Dziekuje za uwage.
@@dagmarabiernat2783 no dobry taki cieplutki rosołek
@@cooking-the-world fajnie, że pokazaliście krokiety. Rzadko widywałem je, by ktoś z obcokrajowców je jadł a są spoko!
Hey! Any recommendation kosher foods in Poland?
In Poznań they eat potato pancakes with sugar, real żurek doesn't look like that - it is too thick, too many potatoes, and bacon is usually fried or cooked in it, and devolays should have only chopped parsley and liquid butter inside, not cheese, not to mention horn like shape. What you eat is kotlet szwajcarski (Swiss cutlet). Rosół is not Silesian invention, and you forgot to mention kotlet schabowy, which is similar to Wiener Schnitzel, and there are no traditional Sunday dinner without it.
Thank you Zuzia ☀️
Won’t be looking for traditional Polish Food after seeing the dishes, Pizzerias and Steakhouses will have to do!
And that’s ok 🙂
Each to their own I guess. That Polish cuisine looks incredible IMO.
I wonder about the origin of the pierogi? I lived in China for several years and tried a lot of dumplings ( jiaozi) but that looks just amazing!
Jaka tam śląska tradycja !
Rosòł zawsze w Krakowie w niedzielę, jeżeli mieszany to : kura-wołowina to potem krakowska sztuka mięsa z sosem chrzanowym na drugie danie.
how do i say ' no tomato sauce please ' with my gohlabki ? can i get an alternative sauce.....?
rolaaaadaa :D
Nooo, przez to mam smaka na roladę... I na gołąbki... i pierogi... i placki... i w ogóle smaka mi to narobiło
Lots of potatoes. I wonder what the tuber of choice was before the 1600s. It all sounds delicious.
Me too.
