- We see a lot of left field shit in this new video. This would be the FIRST video I did since Auntie RoRo came and crashed the party for the last few months. Though I was here because I was tipped off that Amtrak would be sending their new Avelia Liberty (The Acela 2.0) train to Ivy City, D.C. from Penn Coach Yard at 30th Street Station. We also see a few Amtrak trains, an Amtrak wire train, and SEPTA Regional Rail running on their abbreviated COVID-19 schedules.
Trains Seen:
Amtrak Catenary Maintenance Vehicle
Alstom Avelia Liberty
Budd Amfleet
CAF Viewliner II
GE Silverliner IV
Morrison-Knudsen Viewliner I
Siemens ACS-64
I swear 70% of all Avelia comments are: ChAnGe ThE hOrN WaAaAaAaAaAhHhHh! Edit: I'm not your casual "I hate the new and love the old!" Train dude, that's why I feel chill with the horn.
Awesome Train the Avelia Liberty is , I would love to see it in person and hopefully ride on it one day. Great video and amazing shot of the The new Acela, Amtrak, Septa and The NS diesel trains love them all and you and the music rock keep going okay.😊👍.
I noticed the Vermonter no longer has a baggage car. Wonder why. Used to have a lot of tourist and bicycle traffic. Great shot of Avelia under wire. First one I've seen!
Nice Very Nice. great post thanks
Great catches!! I really loved seeing a familiar train to me, the Vermonter, in a completely different environment to what I'm used to. I've lived along the NECR Palmer subdivision (Or whatever you call the stretch of line between Brattleboro VT and Palmer MA) all my life so far, and grew up seeing the Vermonter pass through my hometown. They switched it over to the PAR Conn River line in 2014, it was a big deal at the time, all over the news with massive upgrades done to the track for 75-80 mph operation. As a kid, I remember seeing standard power of a P42 at either end. Trains were normally 5 cars, and they would often add a 6th around Thanksgiving and Christmas. At some point they started switching towards a single P42 on the point, usually with a cab car at the other end. Still saw the leading/trailing setup though. Nowadays they seem to exclusively run with a single loco in the lead, and typically a cab car at the rear.

The Avelia Liberty is awesome! Although the horn doesn’t really fit in that well.
There was also an NS light engine move with SD60E #6937 and ET44AC #3672.
I hope they figure out a way to change the horn. And if they do, I hope one set keeps the Euro horn, and the rest get a K5LA.
Awesome
Pretty neat!
Awesome! Although that horn is horrible.
Nice catches
all you need is a tripod for perfection, but still a great video!
It looked better all painted in blue, like in commercial from a few years ago.
Awesome! I’m waiting for it to come to nj. If even does.
Nice vid
Amtrak should've put a K5LA on the Acela
Great video!!! Where can I get the music at the end, awesome??
How many Avelia Liberty trainsets does Amtrak have as of today?
