    Awesome channel made independently which makes it more appealing to me! Dude seems like a true enthusiast who knows his stuff, would love to see how well it does in deep deep snow with some snow tires.. Snow driving isn't as high impact as driving it on desert courses, or over boulders.. Your driving was great man I'm sure no1's worried about that or the talking portions, it's not like you were spewing nonsensical bile like many over produced channels on CZcams. Seems like a newer channel, as a viewer belonging to the male between ages 18-25 demographic, most fickle but also most abundant demographic, surely makes up the majority of folks who seek out content like this... Anyway: my suggestion if I had to provide one to better your channel would be to think about improving the audio, I find directional (Shotgun) microphones to work well for exhaust clips, so long as it's equipped for wind noise reduction. there are covers of all shapes and sizes for that... Then for interior POV portions the best mics are of course Simple open lapel clip microphones, usually they're quite cheap and many channel creators provide links for the ones that work best for them after trying a few different ones. Anyway, subscribed. You have good taste that's the ideal spec for the current gen tacoma and I look forward to more content

      snazari1994 Duddddddddee I know right? He wasn't even looking for a manual TRD Pro yet there just happened to be a 6 speed TRD Pro available like whattt how could that not be your first choice?! Toyota's such a conservative company so they hate making variations available for drivetrain powertrain and transmissions, like many auto manufacturers but still this is the best pickup truck you could possibly own out of the box it will last 500,000 miles easy if he's on point with maintenance and doesn't destroy the truck by lifting it and fitting larger wheel tire setup. The only modification this truck could benefit from would be whatever TRD parts that it doesn't already come with... i.e. TRD Supercharger :)

    Having just test driven both the manual and auto in 2020 Tacomas, I decided to order a manual. It was a VERY difficult choice because I do plan on doing some serious offroading in the future and I went into this expecting to buy an auto, for the additional features it offers. However, after driving the auto I kind of hated it. Toyota did reprogram the auto for 2020 and it is a bit better than 2019, but it's still a very lethargic transmission. It doesn't hunt nearly as much, but it still feels very slow, even without any payload. That said, re-gearing the diff to 4.88s or 5.29s will fix the auto's performance and can improve the manual's as well. Conversely, the manual definitely feels more responsive to throttle inputs, as long as you're in the right gear for the situation. Even though I ordered a manual and have no regrets, it was a hard choice because offroading on any technical or challenging terrain is extremely difficult with a manual, which is why I wanted the auto, but I'm glad I went manual. I'll probably just avoid the really tough trails.
    Now for the critique, I really do hate these kinds of videos because they give me a headache due to all the jerky movements.. It would be MUCH better to just suction mount the camera either to the sunroof or the side window and aim it at the road and gauge cluster.

    • @s4awd2

      Critique noted. I have always used a helmet cam for recording my bike rides. So I just did the same with this review which was a mistake! lol.
      I took my taco off road and what you do is just leave it in first and crawl. No clutch involved and super easy. Some of the stuff was super gnarly and painful to hear but it runs like a champ. All the guys I go with have manual jeeps and they were like don't use the clutch. just let it crawl.

    I own a 2019 trd off road manual and unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it there's a defect on it. Ones the truck is at a running temperature and your driving over small bumps on the road and you out the clutch in or set it in neutral you can her a rattle sound sounds like it's coming from the transmission I took it to my dealership and after a week of being there they told me it was normal so I test drove 2 different trucks and they all did the same there a video on CZcams "TACOMA MANUAL TRANSMISSION RATTLE" my truck and the other trucks I tested sounded the same not to many people know because the manual is not that comon just trying to put the word out so maybe Toyota can address the problem because it's embarrassing to have 35 thousand truck that rattles over bumps

    Great info!
    I was dead set on the TRD Pro 6MT, but after spending some time behind the wheel I started thinking what on earth am I getting for the $7k over the TRD OR. The suspension, LED fogs, exhaust, leather seats, a non-functional hood scoop, skid plates... I don't see $7,000 there. The missing sunroof is a tough pill to swallow too.
    I still think if I buy the O/R I will wish I had a Pro, but then if I'm going to drop $41k on a Pro I started looking at the base Raptor too for another $11k. Not sure I am cope with losing the manual trans.
    Why did you want the Pro over the O/R? AND, based on your other cars, did you consider the Raptor at all? I doubt price was much of a concern for you as it's not for me, but I still struggle with the seemingly poor value of the Pro and the seemingly great value of a base (or near base) Raptor.

    • @s4awd2
      @s4awd2  Před 7 lety +5

      JortsRider - Thanks for the comment. I totally agree. Aside from the fox shocks your not getting much more. The Pro is an odd duck. Jeep doesn't add power gains for there more trail focused rubicons which is fine for crawling. However it doesn't make sense for Toyota to add fox shocks for high speed desert running but not add more power for the high speed running :P.
      I looked at the raptor but it is just too new and the dealer markups are ridiculous. It's also HUGE. In the end OTD pricing approached $75-80k which didn't make sense given I basically use it to haul my bikes.
      That said, the TRD pro just looks the business and should be extremely reliable. You can make the OR look just as nice if not nicer at a much better value but the cement gray got me :).

      Maybe ! Or possibily the majority you speak of hasn't driven a proper truck. This truck is the biggest pile of garbage I've ever owned... the differential is f***ed at 6000km, it's leaking all over my driveway whining like crazy on the highway and unfortunately the fact that yours drives fun doesn't help me . 1-2 gear the truck barely has enough power to move without bucking aggressively until it hits 3700rpm . Also this truck gets worse mileage then my 2015 f-150 lariat that I've owned since before I bought this Tacoma as a second vehicle "commuter" . Explain that to me . Tacoma has 1/2 the power 1/2 the capacity 2 times the road noise and a shittier ride...

      drewpert 15 ... how do you come to that conclusion I assure you have owned both vehicles... do you need photographic proof of the mileage between the two trucks?
