Thanks Andrew, great video as usual, short, informative, and to the point! Others will make this into 10 episodes series!
Haha, thanks for noticing Dr
Love seeing how you set these things up and your how the build experience went. Thanks, Andrew.
Thanks Captain
Amazing
Thanks
Hi Andrew, as always thanks for your video. I've been waiting for the review of this model for a while, if one day I buy it I think I'll transform it into a VTOL because this way I'll have a more versatile model that doesn't need a landing strip. Good flight!
It does look ripe for VTOL conversion
Thanks Andrew 👍💪✌
👍🏻
I really wish reptile-tech would revise the reptile dragon v2. Its such a good plane just needs some HD updating.
👍🏻
Great setup insights. Nice close views in the camera work to show details.
Any thoughts on a 2 vs 3 blade propeller setup? I'd be bit worried with catching 3 blade on landing. 2-blade is also more typical of an efficient cruiser.
Yes I have some 2 bladed props coming but the three bladed are smooth. I'll compare the efficiency
gorgeous. how do you think it would fly with a slightly flatter tail using thrust to steer?
I wouldn't flatten the tail, that might reduce the yaw stability, but differential thrust would work fine
Do you think it would still be stable if you were to shorten the tail? I would like to fly it with a much lighter set up and by shortening the tail I could run a lighter battery and set up.
Yes, it's very stable as it is so you could shorten the tail boom by a few cm maybe.
I stay away from planes with boom tails. They always seem to rely on proprietary parts that I am a part away from not being able to fly. Not too mention the special parts seem to be less reliable.
Having said that, I am in the middle of a Sonic Modell Binary build , and that wing drop looks scary familiar to what I am about to jump into :). I hope it is just the tape and not a wing design issue :)
Great for VTOL rear motor attachment
@@AndrewNewton No doubt thats whats coming
What do you think of Altus vs swordfish?
I prefer the Swordfish for speed, efficiency and wind penetration. But the Altus is more suited for VTOL conversion.
@@AndrewNewtonthen the swordfish is what I’m looking for!! Thank you
I loved atom rc planes, but they seem pretty lost when it comes order management. They have lost me as a customer because they took my money, but never delivered what I ordered.
This results In paying for items , and not getting them, no matter how many email conversations you have with them. I had several I’ve had several over the last few months.
I ordered parts for my penguin after a crash. After 2 months of back and forth, I’m putting the penguin in a box and see if I can figure out something next winter.
They were just waiting for me to give up without my parts. They win, but I’m not playing the game anymore.
Lucky for me, this plane does not tempt me to buy like the others :)
Disappointing from AtomRC
When ZOHD makes good stuf why the Fuck provide only 3Pin Conectors in the Wingpocket? Every Modern RX or VTX need 4 Wire for telemetry or Smart audio
I thought the same thing but maybe for VTOL tilt servos, not 4 wire components
@@AndrewNewton but this Problem is so old. They made the same Mistake again. This problem was spoken few years ago with Talon GT, or other RC Planes
The "9+2 Connector" appears to be a common connector. Have seen it used by U-Wing/Fin-Wing on their models. Also can purchase the "9+2 Connectors" online.
(9+2 being 2 larger power pins, 9 smaller signal pins)
It would indeed be nice to see a "2+12 Connector"
A work-around for this would be to use a signal multiplexer like CANbus, etc. to a remote signal distribution embedded out the wing.
Another work-around is for multiple 3-pin connectors to share power/ground, so freeing up a couple pins to allow more signal pass-throughs.
