    I'm really enjoying this project and looking forward to seeing the final design. I like the DC heater supply, curious to see if the impact could be measured? Thanks for your videos and thanks again for the software suite for the Analog Discovery!

      Thanks. Using the soft start the peak current is considerably lower. I guess I could try add a short video segment in the next episode showing the difference in peak current draw during switch on using a current probe or a shunt.

      @@TheStuffMade I'm sure the soft start will reduce peak start up current as per your design as you clearly know what you are doing! I haven't seen much on line (other than speculation verging on folklore) about the impact of DC heaters vs. AC heater supply on tube amplifier noise, which would be really interesting to see quantified if possible.     Great! Like your videos. I 'v done a lot of different amplifiers last 35 or more years. And now I have got an idea. I have 5-6 ESP32 boards and MCP41010 digital potentiometer ICs in my boxes with electronics junks. Got an idea to make speaker, DC, overcurrent, thermal, overpower and rest protections, fan controller, with all parameters on 2x16 or 4x20 LCD with vu-meters on this LCD and volume control, input selector and all of this bells and whistles... I found a few Arduino projects for vu-meters, protections, tone control but even AtMega2560 has no enough memory and power to do all this function same time, all of this projects are only one of functions enabled. ESP32 is much better and it could be BT or wifi web based remote with great GUI (but I think to put buttons on PA also). It would be good to make it to fit as control for any PA. Any thoughts and advice about this idea? What do you think is this good idea for a project or not?

      Thanks, happy you enjoyed the video. That sounds like an interesting project, it should be possible to do something like that with an ESP32, it's always good fun to build something.

    Thanks for the update, which NTC thermistor (PN#) were you thinking of using? I may add one to my quad PP-monoblock amp...

      Thanks. it depends on the amplifier but for something like a medium sized PP amp (e.g. 6V6-EL34-KT88) I'd probably go with an NTC thermistor having a resistance of 30-50 ohm at room temp and twice the current rating of what the amp draws. And of course when mounting it, keep in mind these thermistors run very hot because of the way they work, but you probably already know that.

      Sure, but these boards are just small test boards to make sure the design is working as intended, there will be a final design that will be slightly different. If you are still interested then I can take a few pictures of the underside and upload them to imgur.
