We’ve seen this Prelude before, and it’s definitely a force to be reckon with! The H22 with a Precision 6266 strapped onto it is no joke - putting down a WHOPPING 700hp to the wheels! Notice the big tire on the front of this Honda…it’s obvious this is a serious setup. Taking on 700+ hp LSx cars, and a 2JZ S2000, this little four cylinder does WORK! It's only underrated cause it wasn't built on the civic platform like the b and k's it was built on the accord platform so its slightly harder to swap if they put the h in any si or type r personally think it would be above b series

H swaps never got the recognition in civic chassis cause they are much heavier compared to a b or k series swap that’s why no one does them, not worth it in my opinion

I almost has a chance to buy one but my fkn family wouldn't drive me 2 hours to get it. it was in white and in mint condition inside and out. the dealership wanted 4k for it. I'm still going to look for one. in my opinion one of the best looking Hondas ever made and it's a shame they never continued to make them. I almost want to mass email Honda and demand they make a new model with a high output v6 or turbo si enjine.

As an owner of my 7th one, I definatly approve! There is something about them that make them unique thats for sure. maybe its the fact I never heard a prelude owner talk smack on other cars knowing that (back in my day before K series) this H22 can bolt into a lighter car called civic and the even lighter civic crx. humble people drive preludes..... Its a cult thing I guess.
We are definitely a Prelude Cult! Mine is Frankenstein, 2.3 lt dohc 5 spd, named by my son when he was three, and loved by all three of my children. We all work on him as a family.

H22b is truly the big block of the Honda world. Everyone wants to do bswaps but h22 has always been slept on compared to the k or b series.
I always felt the prelude should be rwd. The contour of it is so nice.
I heard somewhere that a car was going to be rwd but changed later in development to fwd. Could have been Prelude, but then again Honda does a lot of fwd sporty cars.

Well normally aspirated with a set compression ration. The cylinder holds a set cubic inch volume. Obviously more compression means your taking in more fuel air and it’s compressed at a higher rate. That’s why it’s more power. Assuming that the ignition and fuel support it. So when your boosting your taking a huge amount of fuel air mixture and super compressing it which is why the power is so significant , also considering the fuel and ignition support it. The advantage of turbo is when your not under boost the engine has a lower compression ratio and is very drivable. Nitros Oxide allows for more fuel to be put into the cylinders. Once again providing a more powerful force on the piston.
This is why I like Honda's.

I drive a 5th gen Honda Prelude (Red) as my daily. Year 2000, manual transmission with 168,000 miles on it and damn is the car fun, I love it so much. Car has never failed to make me smile. I love my prelude. Great car!

My cousin told me a story of his 700hp prelude. He said it wasn't pleasant to drive at all. He told me the car would shake incredibly hard and jerk him violently. I get it. Front wheel drive and cars that lack LSDs. You have to remove power steering when bangin this much power. He drives a Porsche now. Boosted to the same hp with the added benefits of RWD and Porsches reputable suspension.
For less than half the price of a porchshe you can awd swap any Honda and be faster

After seeing this and my brothers dad owning an 88 4WS, I bought a prelude in the summer of 2019 the 1993 Honda Prelude VTEC Obd1 H22a1 5Speed. Since I’ve replaced the ball joints, upper and lower front and rear control arms, energy suspension bushings, threw on an AEM v2 intake, and it’ll be out of the shop this upcoming Wednesday from changing the clutch rear main seal and oil pan. This thing has been a beauty to drive, and I’m glad to own one. This video has inspired me and reminds me to never give up and motivated me to make this h22 bulletproof as I can and go all the way. Hopefully one day I can be featured on 1320 with an insane 4th gen! I love seeing y’all’s videos 🤘

Joe Smartballs first of all h22s came with vtec (not all of them but they did) and from a guy who has been driving honda since before vtec..vtec is really not all it’s cracked up to be and there is a reason why it’s the butt of a lot of jokes where I’m from lmao..a properly built non vtec engine will destroy any vtec engine anywhere

Prelude turbo all day, but it needs a race box with that type of power to reach its full potential, it would of dusted supra as well with right gearing to reach 300km plus, bullet proof engine can do pulls like this all day ever day.

Yeah the 200hp or 180 depending on h22 model is just enough really. I have one that's still going fine at 280,000kms. Hopefully got some life left in it. You wouldn't expect a sports engine to last for so long, but I think mine was used as a commuter car for most of the time. People get the vtec model and never use the vtec lol

Right! The transmissions for the Si's and GSR's were weak. However the HF Transmissions were a little stronger. Not only that but they were better for the 1/4 Mile to. The HF trans missions had Close 1-3 gear Ratios and Longer 4-5 gears for "economy" I had a 85 Si with 245Fwhp with an Hf Transmission. I hit 125Mph in 4th gear with 3,000 Rpm left to shift to 5th and was Pulling strong. Just had to slow down because of the little thing known and Rush Hour Traffic Lol..

+Gabe Halstead Similar physics to a truck. There is an air pressure bubble created below the windshield which probably created a positive pressure for probably 3 feet behind the windshield. That means the hat is receiving a lot less pressure to life up. This is why old baja trucks used to have vents on the roof to send air to the radiators behind the driver or the trucks would over heat.

+Eric Stevens The oem Honda Transmissions for our Bseries engines can handle up to 700hp. Our axles can also handle up to 500hp till you need to just get better axles. The only axles that are weak on Honda's are the one's that come with the H series accords and preludes. Now the weak transmissions are from the K series motors and the H series motors we have. But so far our B series seem to be built the best to handle power, longevity, and to take the most beatings

what it makes when you lock 5th gear, and how to do it?
Gedas alekveravičius higher hp applications the gears starts wanting to split. the cuff goes around where the 5th gear usually sits and holds the gears and shafts together.
Or when the shift box is not properly aligned and the cables wont let ya get into gear.
It can happen when slamming around switching gears to hard.
It's these kinds of hondas that got me to accept them. Not a big fan of preludes but what a beast. The weak point is unfortunately the transmissions. Most B series and H series transmissions can handle 500hp which is more than enough for a 2000-2400lb car. You can always build the transmissions of these if you plan for more power.
