Saw Sita ramam(Telegu) and Bullet train(English) so far, and to my surprise.... I thought August will be bad. But good start... Loved both of them... Third act was kinda long for bullet train but overall absolutely had a great time today. Nice Friday.

I discovered your channel after being an avid cinephile for years now. I am looking forward to watching Fahadh Faasil's Malaykunju (available on Prime). India being a huge country produces movies of different types to cater to the different needs. The newer audience seeks refuge in the realism and most of the Malayalam cinemas are likewise.
Check out Fahadh Faasil's Films. Also adding a list for you if you are any of it.

Man am i glad i found this channel, such great content !
Also, on a completely random note i rewatched bahubali the beginning because i don't remember much of what I saw 7 years ago, and i have to say my views have changed. RRR is a fantastic film no doubt, but bahubali is a classic. That war scene in the last 40 minutes felt bigger than RR

    • @laxmandass6946

    Great recs
    Aside from amazing tollywood movies,
I really believe you should check out films from Marathi film industry [one of the many film industries in india]
They're not as bombastic or in your face as other 'wood' movies but they have their own charm. They're more serious, blunt and quite social commentary-esque
Some suggestions you should absolutely check out:
1.Sairat: A love story mired by social class struggles or casteism
2.Duniyadari: a coming of age film about a group of college kids whose lives were shaken by a tragedy. It's narration as well storytelling is quite unique as it transitions between two periods quite frequently.
    3. Fandry: Unique story about a poor family trying to catch a pig while navigating casteism (you might be seeing a pattern here) when one of their own falls for a upper caste woman.
4.Naal: a film through an eight year old's eyes trying to navigate the highs and lows of love for his parents. Great cinematography.
    5. Natarang: a daily wage worker discovers his passion for theatre but faces a nearly uphill battle [for cultural context: theatre is huge in Maharashtra where plays are often acted out in religious and cultural festivals]
6.Jogwa: A girl forced to give up everything for religious beliefs, finds solace with another victim. 'Jogwa' translates to alms given for religious reasons.
7.Natsamrat: A shakespearan actor finds himself homeless after his adult kids leave him, and he has to come to terms with it
8.Shwaas: Translates to 'a breathe'.About a grandfather's journey in showcasing the beauty of the world to his terminally ill grandson
9.Kaksparsh: on Child marriage, loss and societal pressure.
[Disclaimer: These are quite reductionist descriptions and they do not do justice to what the films are all about]
