Think about it. They don't make furniture, or Anything, like they used to. What a great way to have great solid, updated furniture at a fraction of the price for New Junk! Bravo. You've inspired me to start this again
So true! you should definitely get back into it!
Bingo! So many people now think of furniture as disposable because it is cheaply made and only lasts for a couple of years. They then toss that cheap furniture into the landfill and replace it with more cheap furniture. The cycle goes on. Why not buy the good, well made quality stuff used and update it with paint or refinish it and add some new hardware? That total cost will be less than the cheaply made disposable furniture they buy today.
I totally agree with this! I feel the same way about old houses as well.
I retired without a hobby :( your videos began popping up, reminding me of my mom reupholstering couches, chairs, stripping and staining items to make them last longer. Memories of mom and your willingness to teach has inspired me to begin a new adventure. Thank you SO very much :)
I love to see this kind of content. Reminds me of when you began and were paying off your student loans. You’ve come such a long way. Congratulations ❤️
Thanks so much!!
Thanks for providing the follow-up. It's interesting to understand the cost / profit breakdown as well as the length of time on the market. Great work!
Glad it was helpful!
The final product of the dark, painted dresser looks fantastic! Good job Lauren!!!
Thank you!! 😊
Amazing! The dipped set was my favorite
It's so good!
I’m always learning from this kindergarten teacher! All of the videos are a wealth of information.
Thank you!!!
Happy to hear that!
OK foil as a masking agent...thats pretty smart😁😁
I love the integrity you put in your work!!
Yay! So happy you finally sold the cabinet. I remembered watching you make it and I was surprised when it didn’t sell because it’s gorgeous!
Also remember it will depend on your area. Lauren your work is absolutely amazing and I love watching your videos.
I think my favorites are the black dresser and the two tone set ❤. Just lovely ❤
I continue to be in awe of your beautiful work and expertise!
Wow so exciting. I’m happy for you and Neiman. 🎉
Thanks again for sharing this! 💯
Excellent episode with truly useful information. Only one bit missing: where did you find your little scooty stool?!
I think she got it from Amazon if I remember correctly.
Awesome, you are so talented
Excellent!! Wow!!
I love your work! They look so beautiful. I wonder if some of furniture (like the cabinet you added leggs) could have a place in the leg area for pets or an open shoe cabinet. I'm not talking about these pieces but in general. It would different and cute. Makes your work stand out from others.
You are clearly talented at what you do and I liked the first and last flip you did. However, maybe cos in the UK we like old things and tend to restore antics I am not that keen on changing real antics. I bought a Dexter bookcase for next to nothing, I did not know the history of the brand until I did some research. I originally used it my my pantry but now it has pride of place in my sitting room as a bookcase. Love the dark wood would not change a thing. That is my preference I appreciate that is not everyones taste, and I appreciate that is your business.
I love to refurbish furniture too… only a beginner 😊 - You do a wonderful job 👍💗🩵🙏🏽
Hi, I hope you can keep your great business going by eventually hiring the hard work out while you search for more awesome old sturdy furniture. An artist, you are! God bless ❤
we'll see! right now we're still a 3 person team (:
Great month!!!!
Is Facebook market the only place you place your furniture or are there other sites you can recommend? Particularly for higher end pieces??
Talented 😮😮😮
Hi! What if I outsourced and hired someone to make a dresser base and perhaps fix a couple drawer slides? How much do you think that would cost? Also- I think just putting some fancy hardware pulls on that first dresser could have really modernized it, could have flipped it for more that way, maybe. Maybe not as big of a profit but…. a smaller less arduous process would be just to clean the piece and add unique drawer pulls, maybe something handmade from Etsy.
I'm honestly not sure how much that would cost...it would depend on who you hired for the job!
@5:57 what’s the product you’re using to fill in the edges ?
I bought my first piece of furniture to restore. I have sanded all the way down to the primer. Don't laugh as I am very new to this but what grit sandpaper do I use to remove primer?
Thank you so much for your content! I was really hoping to make some extra money flipping furniture but in the Tampa Bay area where I live it turned out not that profitable. You are lucky if you make $500 off a beautifully refinished solid wood dresser that you’ve put in quite a bit of work and materials. And it may be sitting there on FB marketplace for weeks forcing you to repost and go down in price. It’s discouraging and makes me wonder if I should go on. Any advice?
keep trying! as long as your work is quality, your photos are well done and you're in a well populated area, you should have no problem! I always try to cater to my market so sometimes that means i'm not necessarily doing my style of furniture but making sure that its truly something my market would purchase. don't give up!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacherThanks Lauren! ❤
Would you be able to put those new bases on a dresser that was not solid wood? I have a dresser and two night stands that are particle board and I want to make them taller. Not sure if this could work or not, have you tried it?
for sure! you'll just need to add on any necessary supports to the bottom of the piece before installing the base!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher I would love to know how to ensure there is enough support for the base to be added. Maybe you could make a short tutorial? Thanks for your help 💕
I just wish I could sell anything for that amount of money. In my area, it is impossible to sell about anything for more than $400. So I do a lot of projects but can't make anywhere near what you make.
you'd be surprised! if your work is quality, i would try listing a piece at a higher price point. allow it to sit on the market for enough time to give it a chance and see what happens (:
I love your videos. However, im not sure how the profit would pay for the lease and pay the bills without youtube. Also, what about the gas and other expenses like renting a truck to transport the initial furniture?
true, while I flip furniture full time, i also have several other areas of income...I am not really telling people to go get a shop and have all the extra expenses - more so encouraging a side hobby or a business where you solely focus on flipping. I do think if i didn't create content and earn $ in other ways, that furniture flipping would still be a great side hustle or even full time business cause that would be the main focus thus i would be able to do more projects and make more $ (: hope that makes sense! appreciate you watching!
I have a dresser 2 piece perfect for u to flip
I would be leary to paint with enamel because would you have a hard time getting it off.
that's a great reason TO paint with enamel! you don't want it coming off once its painted!
Makes me wonder what I’m doing wrong. I’ve been try to flip an end table for 2 and a half weeks and have had zero interest
single end tables are a bit tricky! i would recommend sticking to pairs and also dressers and other furniture that is more "necessary" if that makes sense! don't give up!
👍
Why did you leave the back unfinished wood. Arched cabinet.
I painted the back of it
Great Video. A monthly Account would make sencei believe
Taxes, rent, Transport, ect.!!!
What really IS yours at the end?
Whatsoever, iam Sure this Business makes good Profit after all Costa😁
GOD Bless you all
true, but remember, we make money in about 3-5 different ways each month - not just flipping (: thanks for watching!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥💕
It is nice to see what you've sold stuff for but after rent on your store front, stocking the store, gas in your car to get to and from your deliveries etc. etc. I don't see how you can be making anything. You do beautiful work, however.
any reason you dont wear a mask while sanding? vac systems do not get everything and the fine particles are terrible for you.
mostly bc I forget but i know I need to start doing a better job 😅 thanks for the reminder!
Love your videos but you talk sooooo slow that sometimes i skip the viedos
you can always speed them up to be 1.5x or faster 😊
@CreativeIdeasMaker
I loved all three pieces and the restorations were done well and as a carpenter and restorer I would love for you to share more videos of woodworking techniques and skills for viewers. I wish you more success ❤🤍💚
