Busy Outer London Freight Session (but what has happen to respect to others)

- I went to London for two reasons firstly to do a short rush hour at Bethnal Green for class 720s, then get out to the suburbs of the capital to film some freight trains.
But at Stratford I wasn't very happy. Filmed on 19/04

Fabulous footage of 37 611 Mike, can't beat it.....as for the numpty blocking your view.....
I had a similar incident in York one day. While making my way back 'pass' to Derby from Scarborough I arrived at York in time to catch an A4 heading north. I went to the very north end of platform 5, past Y217 signal, right out of the way of the masses filming the train. Just as it was moving towards me a woman literally stood slap-bang in front of me, blocking my whole view. Alas as I was in uniform I was not able to vent my thoughts out loud...
That was bad luck mate, yes I understand you had to keep your calm with having your uniform on, but some people just wonder around in there own little world taking no notice who is doing what, cheers Mike.
Well Mike that was a bit of a treat from you. Plenty of tango 90's, 2 redsheds for Nick, a great catch with 67021 at Denmark Hill and to top it all a healthy session at Grays, which as well as being Arnolds patch was also where i started my trainspotting days as a schoolboy.
My daughter still lives locally as well which is why i'm often down there myself.

I was pleased I had a interest day moving about although I missed a freight which was down to me going on the wrong platform.

An excellent video there Mike!! Got some brilliant variety here around London!! Lots of 90s which was nice and excellent 37 drag too for me the highlight!! Nice also to see the VSOE set at Denmark Hill too!! Those selfish train people are very annoying have to say some kids did it to me in Axminster we were all in position they were sat down i was stood up then all of a sudden one stood up right infront of me as the train went past fully knowing I was there!

But I must say I still had a good day filming some creaking freight trains like them class 90s.

I take mostly still shots, I was at Downham Market a year or so ago to photograph the Great Britain rail tour and a guy did it, to me. Apart from that god video Mike, well done. 🤓

Cheers Mark, I understand where you are coming from, but I still had a good days filming of freight trains.
Great video, some good locations in this one. Shame about that bloke at Stratford, some people just have no respect for those around them, but well done for calling him out. I once had someone at Tamworth walk directly across my shot, well over the yellow line and then stop right in front of my camera just to get a picture of an XC unit.
Yes it happens to a lot of us but if there person is an enthusiast its not good is it, cheers for your thoughts pal.

Good video Mike. It was a pity that the guy ruined your shot while filming 4L41 at Stratford 🤦. 7:17 Oh wow what could I say Mike you did very well catching four freight trains at my local station. This was the same date that I was at Grays but in the evening catching 4 four freight trains inc. 4L56 (66067), 4L68 (66753), 4M60 (66570) and 6L89 (66622) which was my bonus catching the aggregates train to Tilbury 2 around 21:22 (and yes I was waiting for that working before I go home 😆). Out and about on mine and colins old patch ! I tend to stand out of the way with my cammra now adays you dont need to be hanging on the edge to get a pic ..... some folk are just utter numpt'ys good video !

Nice variety of subjects there, but that incident at Stratford was just bad etiquette. I have often visited vehicle shows and have lost count of the times I stood waiting to take a photo of a bike/car/van/truck and someone is walking in front of them completely oblivious to me standing there holding up my camera!

Don't see what the fuss is about with the other guy to be fair. He's just as entitled to be there as you are and was only in your way briefly. The locos had passed by the time he stepped in so you hardly missed anything.
You are right, but personally, if I see someone with a camera filming, I'd find another position to film from myself rather than just walk into their shot? It's just common decency in my opinion.

Ben you are entitled to your opinion, yes the locos had passed but I was filming the whole train, and he didn't need to move to get a shot of the rear loco

Yeah Pete I'm ok just getting aching legs lately which is restricting my movements a little.
So it happens to you sometimes then Pete, why don't other guys just look around there area they are standing to see where that can move to if needed.

I'm the same as you, Mike . I don't let them get away with it either. I'll mouth off even if it spoils my shot. Sometimes, I'll do the same to them. Clickers and filmers are 2 different breeds, lol. It's funny Mike coz I will ask if there's a few where they are snapping, so I don't get in their way!!! A good conversation with you next time I meet up with you again, mate. I'm behind on catching up mate.....

I try not to get in peoples way when there videoing or photography I always ask think he made a sharp exit
Well most of us try not to get in other peoples way when doing our hobby Pete, but there are others who only think of themselves.
Unfortunately, some enthusiasts want to get the "best shots", and have no concept of spacial awareness, or the fact that other people are either photographing and/or filming. I've had that experience myself, and it is annoying, especially when on a long platform. The guy didn't have to do what he did. He could've stood behind the camera, or gone further up the platform.

This is one reason why I'm no longer in the community, too many 'look at me, I'm important' types have infested it.

And my reply to those people are:-
You are just a common downmarket nobody
Two issues regarding impeded videos/photos. (1) normal non-rail fan people getting in your way or walking through a shot I don't think you can complain about. You have no right of view line just because you are filming/photographing X be that a train or perhaps a building. (2) Rail fans who should know better like the person in your shot. That is just discourteous but it was ever thus when out filming trains. A regular one I found over the years is the car-chasers rushing in at the last minute and intruding into the line of people who have been at that spot for ages.

Nobody likes people in the way, but at the end of the day there’s not much you can do about it.
