  • This video is about the PX series of calculator emulators. The PX devices come as build-your-own kits, or pre-built, and emulate classic HP calculators, such as the Voyager series and 41C.
In this video, I talk about the PX-15C and PX-41C, and the experience of putting together the PX-16C from a component kit.

I have a PX-16c that I put together when I was learning how to solder. The aluminum face and rear boards with the 3D printed bumper/case results in a nice fit and finish. It's very satisfying having a hand-assembled calculator in my collection.
These are awesome kits for beginners as the repetition of soldering all those button leads gives good experience, while not being an overwhelming amount of solder joints compared to a more complex kit. Alex is very friendly too, if you get one and have trouble with it you can contact him and he might be able to help.

Just built mine (PX15C). Works a treat. As others have said, fit and finish is rather nice. Thanks for your review.

This is too cool. Thanks for sharing. I’d almost given up hope on affording an HP15C anytime soon. I think I’ll order the PX15 kit. Looks like fun. As far as the PX41, it looks cool too, but the CX version he is working on next would be perfect to me.

Yeah I think the PX-41CX will be popular, especially if Alex can include a bunch of useful ROM libraries on it.

Yeah i see them pop up sometimes when people post pictures of their HP calculators on forums. This video seems fairly popular so hopefully it will help them to become more well known.

Why did he also put the addition/multiplication keys on the left for the 41x? It's just a wonky setup for the voyager layout!!

Yeah, I guess there are pros and cons each way. If you are a hardcore 41C user you would be used to them on the left, but those people might not be the market?

@@CalculatorCulture I am not familiar with the 14C. I just know that the Voyager layout was probably based on the 97. Just makes sense to have the addition keys on the right in landscape orientation!
