  • First Crack - 9:50
    Second Crack - 13:13
    Cool the beans - 13:40
    Finally I found a good setting for the Time - Temperature and FAN Speed.
    For roasting 250g of green coffee beans, we need a heater (Heat Gun) of min. 2000W.
    Reducing the FAN Speed helps to obtain higher temperatures.

    Congrats on the success! I've only begun my ventures into roasting and your build helped me gain knowledge of fluid bed roasting.

    where did you find your heat resistant glass? I am doing something similar for my senior capstone project and can't find piping that is food safe.

    Cool project, I appreciate the entire build plan being shared online.
    Has anyone built one so far?

    Did you stick the exhaust manifold out of the window for heat reasons? or because the coffee chaff was making a mess even through your filter sock?

    What did you use to heat up the air?

    • @cyberelectronics
      @cyberelectronics  Před 7 lety

      Heat gun

    • @BenoitOWN
      @BenoitOWN Před 7 lety

      was you using 60CFM of airflow to move the 250grams of bean and I would guess a heat gun that can output up to 1000F at 10CFM?

    • @BenoitOWN
      @BenoitOWN Před 7 lety

      Or you was pushing the airflow from the bottom red blower directly into the heat gun and you pipe untill the beans was keeping up the temperature?

    • @cyberelectronics
      @cyberelectronics  Před 7 lety +2

      Yes. You need a powerful air pump to move 250g of green beans.
      Something like this: offers.kd2.org/en/ie/lidl/pJAh/

      Thanks for the air blower and I already found one with appropriate flow. Now Was it a 240V heat gun head or a 120V head? I will be using manual adjustment instead of Pid controlled.

      You can build it, just check the link in the description.
      Maybe I have 1 more controller, but I'm not sure (I need to find it).

    Why burn the coffee though?
    It was done after 9 min 30 (11 min into the vid) and then you starbucks'd the fuck out of it.

      Because it's only a presentation of a full roast cycle, to observe Second Crack also.
      I always stop before SC, but not imediately after FC (medium+ roast).
