Dear Fr, sadly l found myself nodding in total agreement with you on the state of our beloved poor nation. In Fatima, Our Beloved Mother said " many nations would be annihilated ". I believe our beloved Ireland will be one of these nations, the time of the Irish is over. It will be our holy ancestors that will invoke Almighty God to bring it to an end. There are little shoots of green but not enough. Last night at the Institute of Christ the King mass in Limerick we got talking to a Muslim woman who comes weekly, drawn to the mass. Grace still flows . God bless you, a Rosary especially for you today.

I went through a few years of feeling off from God and it was such a struggle because I'd always felt God within me. July 1st I experienced a Pentacostal level of conversion and I realized what was happening was that God was separating me from the world. I kept hearing Just rely on Me. It took 3 years.

Well stated, Father Brendan. You have stated the truth here. The "commentariot", the Irish Media, is really not worth consuming at this point given its inherent prejudice. However. The point you make about the atomisation of Irish society is a fact, but even in the midst of this atomisation : I would confidently suggest that the Church is still the biggest demographic throughout this atomisation. The only thing that unites those who are in opposition to the Church - is the Church. In other words, our opposition are more fragmented than we are. In reality, most of that opposition actually oppose one another on a whole range of other issues outside of their anti Church stance. We need to take some comfort, and confidence, in remaining the largest demographic and we need to use that size as the basis to try to rebuild. The "commentariot" don't come to any of this with "clean hands" for sure. I would suggest cancelling this "commentariot" and instead support those who do tell, do report, the truth. And in the meantime the Church needs to take confidence in the numbers who still observe the sacraments each week and try to build on this demographic.

The Irish Catholic Church is instructive. Faith that is an extension of national identity can only hope to be vibrant when the national identity is vibrant. Additionally, when you make yourself vassals of the state so that you might enjoy its sponsorship and protection, the state can turn on you at will, and use your dependence upon it to subjugate you.

  • @Anton33175

The Irish society was always very divided, even in Dublin people who live in some parts will never have anything to do with people who live in other parts to the point that I've heard that some north siders wouldn't go south and viceversa.
The ONLY thing that kept together a sense of Irish Identity was the Catholic Faith and it was also a medal of honour to wear:
    - The Vickings robbed the country and killed innocents? In Ireland we remain Catholic
    - New anglican "church" and lutheran deformations? In Ireland we remain Catholic
    - 700 years of British occupation? In Ireland we remain Catholic
Now, what does define an Irish? Before many people were poor, sense of community was strong and we shared common values and standards. But when you remove God from your life and think that you can be fine you're a fool.
There's no identity, no morals, and no values, suicide and depression rates are very high also among the young ones.
May Ireland return to the true Faith and have reverence for the Holy Body of Jesus of Nazareth in the Eucharist.

I am from the US. Not all Catholic schools here are the same. There are many good faithful schools...others Catholic in name only. Instruction and education in the faith begins with the parents...and reinforced in school. You cannot abbrogate your responsibility as a parent, you must pray and lead by example in your family and find a good orthodox Catholic school that reinforces those Catholic values and beliefs. I grew up in the 80s...we actually had nuns teach us...now you be hard pressed to find a Catholic school with nuns...we need more sister teachers.

You may tell a chilling tale, but TRUTH is always a healing balm.
On a positive note, as well as prayer, we retain the great gift of HOPE.!
There are difficult times ahead surely, but God will send us good young men and women to rekindle the faith, even from the ashes of the fading embers of what once was.
I expect the tech giants will abandon the Emerald Isle soon enough (even sooner than we might think) and that will bring a great poverty shock soon enough, but from the hardship that will ensue, the Irish people will see the glaring errors of their ways and learn again to plead the Mercy that springs from Almighty God. A great Purification you might say?
    God help us!

I mourn the failure of Education in Ireland, to lead people to identify, analyse and discern good for themselves.
Not all Catholic Educators but sadly many have raised their pupils to go along with the New Ireland value of material things above all else. This is admittedly, under severe pressure for many “Catholic Parents and Grandparents” who see the pursuit of points and material advancement as the primary fruit they want from Education for their children.
But we should have known better!!!!!!
As a result many under 55ies though they want to be “GOOD” do not know how to discern what good truly is! They are incredibly easy to manipulate with emotional/dramatic stories. They believe it is better, even virtuous, to allow the killing of Children in the womb, lest they be intolerant!
For tolerance of anything is the supreme good in Ireland today!
They do want to be virtuous. But they think they can be so without the grace of God. However, without God’s grace to enlighten our minds, we are the playthings of Evil.
They are unaware of their absolute need of God’s Sanctifying Grace and how to actively pursue a Life of Holiness in union with the Trinity. What a mess!!!!!
Thank you and Immaculata Productions for your courageous and creative imputes which trouble me deeply. Thank you.
This is not the first time in history that the Church & society was in such a sorry mess. With Christ and his Blessed Mother, we shall rise and the gates of Hell shall not prevail.
By God’s grace let us continue to fight and witness for the Glory of God and the dignity of Mankind made not in our fallen image but in Christ Glorious & Risen image.
By his grace we shall conquer, “+”, In hoc signo vinces.

The Word of God says in such a time as this: "If My people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Choronicles 7:14.
If the Church sinned, has it repented? Of course, the secular world does not understand things of God, but if the salt of the earth lost its saltiness long ago what do we expect other than more and more degeneration ~ a foolish society that does not know when life begins and killing of the innocent becomes a human right and a people who believe men can become women and women can become men by the power of their imagination?
