Thank you!!! I've been trying to get to recovery mode for hours with my younger brother on the phone...and it all it took was to find out "hold the keys until the screen pops-up"!!!??? everywhere on the web it said to "let go of the keys when you see the apple logo"

i want a fresh install of big sur. as of nov 19 2020 we have big sur 11.0.1, i have macb air 2019 and when i use opt-cmd-r it loads catalina installer? why is that? do i have to upgrade to big sur first then reinstall? lol
Thank you for the great easy to follow video. Bought a used 2020 MacBook Pro today and the guy wiped it AFTER I left to remove his iCloud stuff. This blocked me out and I had to erase and reinstall. I HATE technology so this was a relief that this was so easy to follow.

I am trying to reinstall after deleting it previously for a new owner for my laptop. Now I want to install the OS. It keeps on giving me error saying "an error occurred when preparing the installation".
Changed the date and time still nothing.
So I am trying to start from the beginning by erasing everything again. APFS is greyed out. When I choose Mac OS extended journaled, it gives me an error.
I found this to be so useful. Great! after doing this absolutely nothing personal is left on the drive, correct?
What do I do?! On the re install phase it says I need an additional 9 Gb of storage.

My MacBook air got stuck while installing Big Sur and nothing seems to fix it. I am going to try and do this now (all my files are on iCloud Drive) but wondering if that will work at all... On Safe Mode I am able to get through to all installation steps but on normal mode it just wont move. 4 days already. I am short of smashing it against the wall. So frustrating!!
I do the cmd+R but I fail to enter the recovery window... it there something i need to do?
