When I was Muslim, for a short period of time, I was taught by a Salafi living here in America, and was taught that the only music I could listen to was nasheeds, or singing about Allah and Muhammad with the voice only, no instruments. I didn’t grow up this way and it was hard. This was also one of the reasons why I chose to leave Islam. It felt like detoxing from a cult, it really did. Now I listen to all kinds of music, and am much happier. Bye Islam!

I fully understand your point! I had the same confusion but now I think I got it "under control". I see the issues as following: on one side are the muslims as people and on the other side islam as an ideology.
Muslims are people, and people do change. Most of muslims are good people because they are human being with all morals that come from the "natural law" of humanity, such not harming others etc. This is why so many muslims are actually better than the islamic values. Also, many muslims are not educated in islam and don't really know islam and that is why they often contradict islamic teachings! For example, quran says "do not take Christians and Jews as friends", and yet many muslims have christian friends contradicting islam at the same time.
Islam however is not going to chage becuse ideologies do not change.
I am also a Kurd from a sunni family and I read how islam came over our folk! The Kurds were forced into islam! Our ancestors were fighting against islam, unfortunately they failed the islamic conquest. As a result, many of Kurds were killed, many women were raped as non muslims etc... Pretty the same things were happening that ISIS are doing.
Another point is that nowadays muslims both sunnis and shias (ISIS, Erdogan and the shia Arab militants backed by the Iranians) keep fighting against the Kurds as they call Kurds "kuffar" and are calling a jihad against the Kurds. There are muslims from around the world joining ISIS or Turkish army in order to be part of the jihadi army against kuffar. This is why you have even black muslims from Africa, Pakistanis etc fighting in Turkish army.
So how can I follow such a religion that has enslaved our folk and stills keeps killing our people?!
My uncle and I left islam and became christians. I know that my auntie in Iraqi Kurdistan also goes to the church now (but we never asked if she is a christian too). Besides, I see lots of my family members in Kurdistan becoming very open minded so that I suspect that many of them left islam too

In my opinion only it’s better to be careful of some lyrics because music is vibrations and so voice too, so we have to be careful of what kind of music/vibes we want in our auric field but don’t banned music
May I suggest Classical as a genre? The genre as a whole contains no lyrics (apart from opera and songs (all of which contain no profanity)), apart from that it is also a profoundly beautiful genre of music.

In sharp contrast, music has always been very important in Christianity, being a important part of worshipping God. Song, dance, and instruments are all important to worship. There's even a whole book of the Bible (Psalms) made up entirely of songs to God.
i love music so much . I love my local music ( Malaysia ) , Russian music and Turkish music . When I was a muslim , I felt so guilty to listen to music especially west music that contain stuff like an alcohol , sex smoke etc ... But I also like LOVE song as well . Im actually love all songs that have a nice beat and melody . Im personally dont really care abt the lyrics and even I love turkish and russian song without understand the lyrics . I saw a video recently where some Muslim college kid tried to conduct a "social experiment" (lol! more like, Lying Brainwashing) where he had classmates listen to the Quran and the Bible. The Bible was merely part of an audiobook of the New Testament, one of the letters from Paul, being read by David Suchet. But for the Quran, it was all sing-songy and melodic, like the call to prayer. So, of course, they reacted better to it, all of them even saying that they like the "song/music". This was apparently proof of the power of the Quran and Islams superiority over Christianity, even though the listeners had NO IDEA what language they were hearing, what it was saying. Everyone in the comments were all praising the reactions, but also mad because "It's not a song! There are just different ways of speaking Arabic." and still others admitting that they don't know Arabic but that "reading the Quran brings me peace." HOW!? Just nuts. Absolutely fucking nuts!
They do a lot of this nonsense, man, don't fall for it, like showing a burqa clad woman walking in NYC and another without it getting catcalled. I was inappropriately touched even when wearing abaya, hijab n face veil in ksa, another time by my own uncle who's supposed to be my guardian, another time by my cousin bro n I was still wearing hijab, I confided in my muslim friend n she narrated similar experiences. It happens even when u wear it, if muslims stay silent for sake of 'honor', doesn't mean its not happening. My muslim, Hindu, Christian classmates dress modestly without wearing black trash bag, niqab or hijab, some live in india, dubai, some in western nations, my own sis lives in denmark, doesn't wear burqa, n they fortunately never have been catcalled, or felt unsafe, or felt the need to dehumanize themselves by covering up in black trash bag for sake of safety. Just dressing modestly is enough, n there r thousands of ways to achieve that without burqa, hijab n niqab. Muslim scholars act as if women have only 2 options either its burqa or bikini, n that every woman in the west is forced to join strip club or red light district in Amsterdam. But thank God, I dont fall for those lies, but a lot of Muslims do. When I was a kid, I liked the Christian hymns, just because of the tune, it doesn't mean anything at all.

Kuwait has radio stations. They do stop all broadcasts 5 times a day for prayer. During prayer time, they play what we called "prayer music". It sounded like the sound track of an old Arabian movie.

Hey AP, my people the Aboriginal People of Australia are the oldest living traditional culture of the world and my ancestors created a musical instrument from a tree called the Didgeridoo which is now used around the world. We play this when we dance in a corroboree which is traditional dance passed down from generation to generation, my people sing to our ancestors we sing to the land we sing to the water we sing to the Dreamtime!! Music and dance we could never live without! What god would create people and tell them to never dance or sing 🤔 sounds weird to me.
