Awesome build
It would be great if you list all the components you use
Hey, that's a fantastic idea! :D
I added a parts list to the video description. Lemme know if you have any further questions. :)
You must mean the hammer he uses to install that that brake line fitting.... 😝
:) Did you watch the video
@@mborchardt why yes I did…want to watch a pro who uses the proper tools? His name is Gee Milner…..watching him build bikes is like watching an Artist!
Thank you for the parts list.
The music is so relaxing and tranquil but all your movements are so violent lol
watching this with this music in the background feels like a meditation for me, great video
That handle bar is awesome. That's definatly something I'm going to have to check out for myself. I love high end commuter bike builds like this!
I love it! All... the combination of colors used in the frame , tires and components. Nice selection of components ( crankset, rear derailleur, breaks and pedals) by the way, I love the look of the tires and that handlebar with a light integrated. Urban or hybrid bike it is a beautiful result!! Expecting to watch more videos by UKKO.
So what was the anger at all that packaging about? That was funny.
Man, i just really suck at unboxing lol.
In the end i felt like i just need to include that pile of cardboard that had accumulated throughout the entire build process. Guess i was just being salty about having to cram all of that into that tiny paper bin that i have at my flat. 🥲
Beautiful song playing. Nice bike.
i love the handlebar/light combo. may have to pick that up for my commuter bike.
i get what you are saying
🤘🤣 именно такую сборку я и ждал , все очень естественно без приукрашивания и подготовки
Very nice bike, like it!!!
I absolutely love this build....what a thing....great work.
So do i. :) Cheers mate!
@@litrayle Just out of curiosity, how does it handle, as the geometry is setup for gravel handlebars? I know specialized tried this a couple of years back (and I really wanted to get it), but the reviews said it was a bit twitchy and not ideal. That being said, I prefer flatbars. Either way...that's a properly great build.
@@AndrewDBrown2020 Generally speaking however, i really like the handling. I can only describe it as agile and zippy. The handlebars give you a huge amount of control for quick and tight maneuvering, you also get good acceleration and speed. It also really helps that the bike is rather light. For me it's perfect for the city, parks and light single trail.
This is actually my second bike of this kind. The industry has named them "fitness bikes", road geometry with flat handlebars, there's quite a few of them: ROSE Multicross, Canyon Roadlite, Specialized Sirrus etc. Putting a flat bar on generally gives you a more upright, comfortable position that some people enjoy. Turns out, the geo of the Backroad AL is actually not that far off your everyday endurance road bike either, except for generally being a bit bulkier.
So how does my bike feel now? Well, it's fine. For my personal preference, the position is a bit too upright at the moment, but i'm planning on swapping out the stem and getting rid of a bunch of a spacers soon. Stay tuned for the video. :)
@@litrayle Great response and makes perfect sense to me. I'm a bit older than I'd like to be, so more upright is actually better. Keep up the great work.
That is a nice build.
Looking for the nxt video! Can't wait! 😊😁
Fantastic bike and build.
Mo jak najbardziej podoba się Twój film. Odgłos tylnego koła poezja dla uszu :-)
Beautiful ❤
Cool bike and cool video too!Nice work!
That explains the 1,2k views in 5 days!I have 120 views in 2 months!🤣🤣
Mate, i honestly have no idea what's going on. I wasn't expecting this. :D
@@litrayle I'm honestly telling you that I enjoyed watching your video...all 19 minutes of it!Great job!👍
♥️
Loved it so much, finally i found my kind of ASMR
Круто,без трёпа все сделал.
I want exactly this bike :-) Backroad AL with flat handle bars :-) Great!!
Finnish commuting must be NUTS-FUN if you need all this gear to do it, or you just make so much more money than me that you're able to afford all of this for the bike you use on a developed country's paved streets. Either way, I'm jealous.
Awesome 👍
Awesome!
Good job❤❤❤
Why shimano 12s chain did not match?
Yeah that was one of the biggest surprises.
Short answer: Shimano 12s chains are not compatible with the 11s chainring that i was using.
So for context: I was using a 12s cassette and chain with an 11s grx chain ring. In theory 11s and 12s should have the same inner width (which they also have). The problem is however that shimano has a very different profile on their 12s narrow-wide chainrings, which makes 12s shimano chains incompatible with 11s shimano nw chainrings. My fix was to use a kmc 12s chain. It doesn't have the special profile and works like an absolute charm! Best shifting i ever had on any bike! 💯
Where did you get the handle bar from? I love that concept.
Good 👍
this would be a great bike for my father´s son
15:18 You just got Hyperglided! d:-D
Nice build! What’s the pressure bottle combo thing you used with your pump for the tubeless install?
That's a Schwalbe Tire Booster.
You use it to initially seat the tire properly on the rim for air tightness. You pump it up and quickly dump the air into the tire.
This is the cheap alternative to a compressor or something similar. :)
Nice. But is a hydraulic brake system a good idea for a suomalainen bike? I used to commute by bike in Oulu when I lived there and I'm not sure the brake fluid could handle the winter.
Probably not, unless you - in theory - run a less viscous fluid.
No biggy for me however, i live in Munich. Over the last couple of years we only had a few nights when it got so frosty that the brakes felt a bit stiff.
Woher wusstest du, wie lang die Kette sein sollte?
Maravilha
💯
Top Bike, vorallem der Lenker mit dem integrierten Scheinwerfer. Kannst du was zum Gewicht und Rahmengröße sagen?
Wow very cool bike.. I'm curious .how did it cost you in total ??
What kind of sorcery is this? I'm hooked now 😋
Cool build! What kind of mat is that on your workbench?
It's the alphacool Eisplateau mat. Perfectly fits a 120x60 desk. :)
U need to install the preload bolt before tightening the pinch bolts. Otherwise the bearings on your bb will wear out prematurely and cause your crank to wobble
This is exactly what he did.
Ok, doesn't match all my ideas for an urban bike, but I can understand your decisions, with the exception of the dropper post. Is it for riding down long flights of stairs?
Haha, i love your way of thinking!
Honestly i just fell in love with the ergonomics for getting on and stopping when i got my first mtb that had one.
And yeah, the thought of absolutely sending it on a knarly set of stairs might have been a factor as well.
Appreciate your comment!
@@litrayle i was watching and thinking "what a hell do you need dropper for on urban bike?", but now I understand it :D
I do that constantly on my mtb when I stop at the lights or whatever :D
For a real urban bike, you need mud guards and a rear or front rack. As of now it’s a only useful for snow. You need studded tires for ice on the roads. Handlebar and saddle need to be changed for a more upright position to view traffic. I know, it depends on the kind of weather you ride in. If you’re an urban rider who uses the bike for transport, you need to ready for any weather.
I have the carbon fiber, DI 2 version with mud guards and racks. It is great in all weather even -20 C.
That's just your opinion on what a "real" urban bike should be. He built his bike to his specifications and use-case, so that is what a "real" urban bike for him.
I’m curious why the dropper for city riding?
I would say it's more of a want than a need
@@sepg5084 I agree. That s why I added in my comment that the urban bike reality also depends on ones climate.
Aside from their distinct crankset design and gearing, I dont know why youd get GRX when you can have MTB parts. Good choices on the parts though. 👍👍👍
es perfecta , pero dejarla en la calle seria como un 🍬 en una guarderia 😂
Flatbar gravel AL. I'm currently building similar concept. White. BTW, ukko is Finnish, and means an old man.
Yes Tom! I'd love to see that bike when it's done!
This bike was really easy to assemble czcams.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
The ultimate urban bike has a belt drive.
An urban bike with heatsinks on the brake pads?
The handlebar looks sick! What’s the brand of it?
It's the LightSKIN LED Handlebars
What happened with the chain? It's cause the chainring was narrow wide and the chain has to be specific for that? Thanks
Yup, pretty much. Turns out Shimano has a proprietary cog profile for 12s narrow wide that is incompatible with 11s shimano nw or any other nw for that matter.
The 12s kmc chain is rather neutral in that regard. That's why it fits on the shimano 11s chainring without any issue while also shifting on the 12s cassette like a charm.
Is that a table mat with the diagrams and stuff? Where did you get it?
That's an Alphacool "Eisplateau Anti-Static Mod-Mat and Work Surface" for computer watercooling
wkwkwkwk you got me in chain installation, now i have anxiety that my old chainring could accept HG+ chain
why do u hav a seat up button?
Schick!
Warum passte die 12-fach Shimanokette nicht?
Gruß Tino
Moin,
amazing bike, i only do not understand why you use the telescopic seat post if thats a urban bike hahaha
Haha, honestly ever since i bought my first mtb that had a dropper post, i never wanted to go back. It's just so chill to drop the seat when getting off or stopping at traffic lights. :D Also, who doesn't like adding unnecessary complexity to a simple build. Good fun! :)
oo yea that explains a lot, hehe thanks to answer my doubt, i just have it because i m into route bikes so i never seen before a urban or route bike with dropper post hehe, i hope one day i could build one bike like yours
ultimate urban would have to be belt drive.
Haha, i was waiting for someone to mention this! :)
😎
Total price?
Итоговая цена?
I live in a hilly city so a commuter bike here needs a front ring with fewer teeth and a cassette with a big outer ring.
Was genau ist das Problem mit der CN-M8100 und dem GRX-Kettenblatt? Hat das Road-Zeug andere Maße? Das würde ja keinen Sinn ergeben :D
Why do you need a dropper post on an urban bike?
Curbs man, curbs.
And for the steeze of course.
Jokes aside: You probably don't. But for me, eversince i got my first mtb with a dropper post, i don't wanna go back. Just for a bit of extra security when going rowdy, comfort when stopping and also simply because i can.
Dude you are mean to clamp to the seat post, not the frame 😬🤣
404 Seatpost not found ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@litrayle Good answer man 🤣
Is the world now in love with 1x drivelines or is the industry pushing those? I’m from a world where mtb are 3x and most anything on asphalt is 2x
Now I can die in peace...
Schwalbe g+one and dropper seatpost is must have (NO) for "urban 'grandfather' bike"
A: Beautiful bike. Kinda pricey, but Beautiful.
B: I'm not sure what "urban" means to you, but to me, it means that bike is definitely going to fund a tweeker party under a freeway bridge. Urban bikes need to be disposable. They. Will. Get. Stolen.
that is a lot of money to recreate what is basically a 90s mountain bike (with half the weight and working brakes)...
Great music & build, but then...
...you mounted a flag pole on the stem.
It may sound harsh and a bit too picky...
...but chop that bar down to a sleek 460.
~StreetFigher~
💀
UKKO 🤔 Qu'est-ce que c'est...????
1:00 Expensive bike parts yet no $5 crank arm fixing bolt tool, tsk! tsk! tsk!
Haha! Truuuuuuuue! :D
IKEA
Your ultimate urban bike will be crash in my city. For Sofia town my ultimate urban bike is with MTB fork and 27.5 plus tires.
$5000 bike😜
Urban? Why urban bike need dropper and GRX/XT components? AS someone who commuted on everything starting with $40 junk yard bike and ending with 7K MTB with whole bunch of different bikes in between I can tell best bike for commuting is internal hub belt bike on 700 wheel 32-35 tire.
I just build with budget shimano cues 9 x 1 speed, surprisingly its pretty good
The title should have been 'Ultimate hipster "urban" bike', this ain't no urban bike.
Gravel tires (no point), 700mm (straight) handlebar (Waay too wide, unconfortable), 12 speed (pointless, expensive, heavy cassette)... no full fenders/ mudguards ?
Pedals are too aggresive for city riding imo, I also run pinned pedals but more 'shin friendly' ...
Anyone that thinks this is a city bike lives in Noob city !
OMG, this is my favourite comment yet. ♥️
@@litrayle :)
At the end of the day it depends what you want and how you ride.
I'm just saying that is not an efficient urban bike. If you use it to go out on the streets just to ride, then sure, ride whatever
are you mad?🤔
Can you speak?
Can you?
It's just a bike kid... not ultimate in any way, but you keep trying to show off.
pathology of the service, nightmare, so many mistakes, even the chain fits, but if someone does not know that it needs to be put on the narrow wide sprocket properly, it buys a second chain, even the gear ratios do not fit properly. What's there to brag about if you can't fold a bicycle. sorry for the language but it's google translate
