The Book of Job is one of the most misunderstood books in the Bible. I attempt to clear that up by offering a different perspective than most people know today. The traditional surface understanding doesn't make sense with scripture or the actual text. This new approach will clear up several misconceptions.
In regards to Job 2:3. It is interesting you brought this up, because this was something I had planned to talk about but left it because I thought I was getting to technical. Commentators like John MacArthur note the Hebrew is the same expression for what Satan uses in Job 1:9, "for nothing." Basically God has turned Satan's own words against him. God is pointing out Satan was wrong that Job only worshipped his stuff. Which is something I pointed out at the end that Satan, Job, and Job's friends were all wrong in this. God is pointing out here Job is not suffering because Satan was right about him in this, but there is deeper thing taking place. Job didn't have his stuff taken away for the cause Satan had thought.

I wish I saw your video back in 2014 when I was beginning to be an atheist. I have abandoned the false path of atheism and have returned the Catholicism. And even if you are not Catholic yourself, that does not matter. You are clearly filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and your videos has helped me strengthen my faith. It is through your lectures on the Bible that I have come closer to God. Thank you

PLEASE, for the love of God, run FAST away from the catholic church. They are not rooted in truth, they never have been. Honestly, it goes against many important things. The catholic church has always belonged to the kingdom of darkness and will play a big role in end times. Please, it is rooted in occultism, systems of magic, idolatry, and many other things.
@@nowheat7987 Is it not more important to be a son of God than some particular denomination? Is that not what Jesus called people to be, sons and daughters of God? Perhaps one can have a "universal" scope about spiritual matters and still be a son of God. Catholic means "universal" from what I comprehend. And yes, someone can "protest" against wrong being done within church and still be a son of God, which Martin Luther seemed to have done.
The Bible says in Romans 8:14 that for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. Is one allowing God's Spirit to lead them, or just other people? Let it be God's Spirit there, rather than just following men, which is so easy for many believers to do. This is what I have had to do after leaving a particular church/religion; allow God to show or tell me where to go, and let God inform me what my purpose for life is.
This honestly left me in tears because it brought back the memories of how God saved me from suicide, depression and the mental breakdowns. This was well explained. God granted you the wisdom to explain this because he knows that there are people like us out there that need to hear this. Thank you God and thank you, sir. I really enjoyed this.

I used to be an atheist and became a believer at a particularly low point of my life. But the truth is I was becoming a moralist and not a true believer. Thank you for this. I hope I will turn from it but truthfully, self-righteousness is extremely hard, if not impossible to beat on your own.
No one is righteous in this world. Dont strive to be the most rightful, perfect man on this earth, rather accept everything that it is and still thank God for eveything hes given us. Dontput focus on what we have to do what we should be and what not, rather put all that focus in God who will lead us the way.

Then you have been deceived. One of this main points is easily refuted, that Job did not have a relationship with GOD. How can he say that when GOD himself calls him his "servant"? All Christians are his "servants" and that is a relationship. Further, after losing all his worldly possessions and all his children, Job says "Shall we accept only good from the Lord and not evil?" That is one of the boldest utterances of faith that was ever spoken on the earth. Job did nothing wrong. This book is about bad things happening to good people and us not understanding.

@@martyrobinson3566 I agree with you and I still have many questions but he made a good point in the video saying Job said that initially but then went on to curse his life and challenge the righteousness of God in the book. So he makes valid points. I've personally been through hardships where I initially praise God like Job and then the more I think about it the more I grieve and get angry and I have to remind myself God is still in control.

Even if you disagree with IP's interpretation, it's more reasonable to assume that he unintentionally misinterpreted Scripture (which happens a lot among Christians) then it is to charge him with trying to deceive people. It seems to me that the point is largely lost on you here. When Job says "Shall we accept only good from the Lord and not evil?", IP was not saying there was anything wrong with what Job said or didn't say, but rather the motive behind it. And that is the motive that saying the right things will appease God and get Him to give back what was taken. Also as far as Job being called God's "servant", I don't have a clear answer from the Hebrew as to whether or not that implies a relationship like the Christian one, but even if we take the view that it does I don't think that necessarily conflicts with IP's interpretation since he said in the last part of the video that it's not as if Job was always a moralist, but rather that in walking with the Lord he reached a point where he came to rely on his own merits and see them as the explanation for all the blessings God had given him.
Note: I'm not even certain I agree with IP's interpretation. He basically relied on one clause in the ESV and a couple of arguments from silence at the beginning (i.e. the text doesn't say Job walked with God therefore he didn't), but I wouldn't go as far as to say it was deception on his part or that this interpretation is particularly dangerous. It still contributes a good theological message.

Job is about steadfast and GOD almighty. I don't see at any point that the Heavens judge Job as self righteous.
In fact GOD even rebukes Job and all His Friends to speak as if they know what GOD have in mind, because they don't know anything.

Me too friend. I’ll never look at it the same way either. Most teachings focus on the dynamic between God and Satan and not on Jobs relationship with God and what it truly means to seek and walk with Him.

I was recently healed from a heart condition after listening to this radical perspective on the story of Job. I realized that I was appeasing God by getting up in the middle of the night to pray longer and longer prayer. God hates being appeased and being treated like a common, dumb idol. I just knew that God was showing me that I need to simply love Him for who He is and what He has done for me through His Son, my Savior Jesus. I wasted no time in genuine repentance and I instantly felt His divine healing on my physical heart. The cardiologist was baffled and had to cancel all her plans to do invasive treatment on my heart. Now I am sharing my amazing testimony with Christians because I suspect many are like me and Job, unaware of this sin of moralism. Thanks to this channel. I simply love you Father God , Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

I don't think Job was lost in moralism or that he loves death (reject God) or sees God as a giant vending machine (Job 31:24) or he just want to use God to get material things because God in fact approved of Job, God called him perfect, He said "THERE IS NONE LIKE HIM ON THE EARTH" and even made a hedge around him (see Job 1:8-10, 2:3). All through the book God kept saying, "MY SERVANT JOB". Job lamented about his sufferings, said some wrong things in maintaining His innocence before God in his grief (that was seen as self-righteousness) mainly because he could not understand why things that are not palatable happen to righteous/just people. He was confused about many things (Job 10:15), and preferred physical death than the pain he felt. He wanted answers. Jesus teaches believers that we will face tribulations, that we should be of a good cheer because He has overcome (John 16:33, 1 Peter 4:16). Job's friends believed the things that came upon Job was because of his sin, this is however not true (God reprimanded them here Job 42:7-8). Although, Job fainted many times in his period of suffering, we also see many verses where he held on the Lord still- Job worshipped (Job 1:20-21), Job kept his integrity (Job 2:9-10, ), Job saw God as his salvation though He was slayed by Him (Job13:15-16), Job said he knows his redeemer lives and he will see God come through for him (Job 19:25-26), Job realized he was being tried to come out better (Job 23:10), Job clearly declared that God was his hope not gold (Job 31:24), Job forgave and prayed his friends for being judgemental during his time of trial (Job 42:10), Job repented of his self righteousness (Job 42:3-6) and declared that there is more he does not know than he knows. The book of James 5:11 points new testament believers to the PATIENCE OF JOB. Ezekiel 14:14, talks about how God delivered men like Noah, Daniel and JOB in their generation because of their righteousness.
Trials and temptations will come to believers to test/prove us of our faith in God, glory to God. God will not bring to us more than we can bear and His strength will be made perfect even in our weakness.
In the book of Job, God show us how man's understanding is limited, teaches us to trust him no matter what comes our way (when understand and when we don't); how we should not lean on our righteousness; how we should believe that God is good and in His wisdom, He has a good reason for everything- He doesn't do evil and that He works all things together for those that love Him; how fleeting a man's life is; how He will not forsake his own even when they faint in time of trials; how God shows mercy still to his own when the accuser comes to accuse; how he will prosper those that wait on him (God blessed his latter end- see Job 42:12); how God is able to prosper us within and without (Job 23:10). It teaches us that where the wisdom of the ancient is spent, the wisdom of God abound forever. God takes pleasure in the prosperity of his servant (Psalms 35:27), He desires we prosper within our soul, so we that can handle material/physical prosperity (3 John 2) and it will not be an idol to us. I agree with you about almost everything, but I don't think that the major lesson in Job is that bad things can happen to good people, so don't necessarily think that when you suffer it's because you have done anything wrong.
The major lesson is that our greatest duty, which nothing true can be built upon without, is to always justify God. Do not doubt Him, nor His ways. He is perfect in all His ways.
It goes all the way back to Eden, when satan's very first attack on mankind was to get Eve to doubt God. From this seemingly simply sin, all of humanity fell. It was through subtlety that satan infected Eve with the lie that God cannot be fully trusted. He really doesn't have your best interest in heart, he caused her to believe, and she acted upon it.
It is ever so easy for any of us to not fully trust God with our whole hearts. Unbelief filters in and we forget to or simply let off from trusting God. We often may not declare God's righteousness, especially when trouble comes. We can do it without even realizing it. It's the old lies, "God doesn't really love you. He doesn't really care about you. He can't be trusted.", which the demons whisper to us.
Job's perspective was upon himself. He was intent on justifying himself. He wasn't aware of it, but he was saying, by his thoughts and actions, that since he was just, he should not be being punished. If this was true, that he was so just that he should not be being punished, then reason would have to say that God was unjustly punishing him. This would make God the unjust one, which of course He is not so.
It is a lesson to all of us, we must keep our focus upon God, not on ourselves, or on anything else for that matter. We must first and foremost not overtly, or in a subtle, hidden way, ever doubt God, or accuse God in any way. We must keep our hearts and minds focused upon God, and always extol Him as holy, just and perfect, and with only perfectly loving and good intentions towards us.
The devil first mode of attack, since the beginning, is for us to doubt God, which actually accuses Him of lying to us.
Always we must make the concerted effort to not fall into the ever present trap of ever doubting God, in any way. We must keep our focus upon Him and worship and declare His righteousness. When we first learn to do this always, for He is worthy, then we will walk in His light, and be subject to His blessings, rather than to correction. Our whole focus, and thereby outcomes, will change for the best.
When Job's focus became to be on God, and His absolute righteousness, he repented in dust and ashes. When He saw God, and His absolute holiness and righteousness, it was then that he could understand and see his own sinfulness, and his real need for God to be his Saviour. It was then that he knew that compared to God's perfect, holy righteousness, all of his own righteousness was as filthy rags.
When he justified God he was fully restored and greatly blessed, as God's true desire for us is, not based upon greed and pride, but solely upon God's great, great love for us, His grace, and our humble acceptance thereof, in Jesus Holy and Wonderful Name.

Good take on the story. I also don't believe Job was a hypocritical moralist like the pharisees. The pharisees were concious of their sin and their corrupt ways, yet they intentionally persisted on that path. They willingly and conciously chose to do evil in order to maintain their wealth, status and power in this world, forfeiting God's Kingdom in the next one. Job was a virtuous man and even if we consider that he was sinful in some way, it wasn't sin in a concious, intentional, hypocritical and God-defying way like the pharisees.

Your (and my) consolation in life is found in the Holy Spirit's abiding companionship--an objective fact. God wants us to find our secure, personal comfort in His constant and unchanging presence. I hope, and imagine, this was your granny's experience with her faithful Lord; and I also imagine, and hope, she encouraged you into the same, direct relationship with our Father--through His Son, Jesus--that she had. She is at rest in that peace, and may you live in that same peace.

Thank you Father for using this channel to help me understand what I am going through right now. Just like Job, you are disciplining me because you love me unconditionally. You have exposed my wrong way of trying to please you with longer and longer hours of prayers, hymns and speaking in tongues in the middle of the night, violating my natural need to sleep. So now I have this new heart issue that requires me to take lots of medication, uninterrupted sleep, hydration, exercise and many hospital appointment. No prayer time altogether for the last 7 months and wondering why God has abandoned me. Now I know He never left me nor forsake me. From this super clear analysis of Job's story, I realized that I was appeasing God rather than pleasing Him. God hates to be appeased as He is not a man made idol! God wants His children in Christ to simply love Him for who He is and what He has done for us. Whatever good work we do should be the result of truly knowing His character. He has given us Jesus the promised Messiah to save us from our sins because God already knew fallen mankind is incapable of saving himself. Only the atoning BLOOD OF JESUS. Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life. If we stray from this revelation, we lose our way just like Job and myself.

Don't ever take someone else word. Ever. Especially in regards to something so pure. It is NOT made to be interpreted like this... This is just imagination. Or some desperate need to explain why God allowed Satan to tempt Job. Read it for what it is. People need to stop theorising over things they literally know nothing about. It's dangerous.
As a born again Christian I must say I have never wanted to read the book of Job. It terrified me thinking that God would allow satan to destroy a loyal follower. I was terrified that if this could happen to Job, A sinner like me would absolutely have no chance in life. After listening to this interpretation I was in awe and was able to understand what happened to Job and why. I am so grateful that you shared this. Thank you for helping me continue to grow in the word of our Lord.
A book terrifies you? Oh come on.... I love the book of Job. You guys in Christianity are taught such delusions about God's word. Ridiculous! You're a grown woman for crying out loud. And job was Loyal. More loyal than both you or I. So if you're concerned for Job, then absolutely be concerned for yourself. You are far more sinful than he was, guaranteed.

Your interpretation of the book Job has by far enlightened me more than any others I’ve encountered. I finally have a MEANINGFUL understanding of this book. I thank the Holy Spirit that I found this and I thank you as well for interpreting in such a meaningful way.

Job 42: 7-8: After the Lord finished talking to Job, he spoke to Eliphaz from Teman. He said, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you did not tell the truth about me, as my servant Job did.
I've recently read Job and my initial thought was that when God addressed Job's friends He was referring to all that Job had said from Job 3:1 to Job 31: 40. But then I realised God was responding to how Job responded to Him after God had answered Job in Job 38 to 41. Job's response to God's address in Job 38 to 41 was horror at tge way he had come to understand God, followed by repentence (Job 42: 1-6). Job realised in Job 42: 1- 6 that he hadn't looked or seen God in the right way despite him being declared blameless and upright. And it is this reponse of Job's in Job 42: 1-6 that God favours and found pleasing (Job 42: 7-8). This was the righteous response that God said made Job His servant. From the beginning to the end of Job, Job was God's servant and God saw him as such. But while Job heard of or about God and worshiped Him in response (Job 42:5), it does not mean that he "saw God with his eyes" (i.e. that he perceived or understood God in the right way even as he had faith in Him - Job 42:5). Note that God not rebuke Elihu because his discourse was centered on God and a heart/mind that was in pursuit of God's heart/mind. It would appear that only Elihu and then Job responded to God in a way that pleased Him which Job's three older friends failed to do.
That's what I have learnt from Job's story for now. I have no doubt that God will help me to see and discover deeper insights of Him in Job's story than this one as I continue to walk with Him in faith.

Thank you! i want to shout out a loud "AMEN"! Before finding this video, I had experienced God's "spanking" as a modern-day Job. God spoke to me the exact lessons in this excellent video. I was in the wake of destuction, and God pointed out that it was my moralistic attitude and separation from Him that caused it. I started to see my many sins and fake righteousness and repented on my knees before God seeking his forgiveness. I have even prayed for those who have trespassed against me. Whatever my fate, I know it will be a good one because I now dwell in the house of our Lord. Thank you again for the accuracy of your analysis.
No book can ever describe how deeply God loves us. God's Love can only be exprienced.

Holy Moly no man can tell you anything about God. Man loves Sin. Praise God, not man. Man pass on his ideas as commandments of God. God’s thoughts are not man’s thoughts and neither are man’s ways God’s ways. It’s written in scripture.
Well the bible sort of does show how much he loves us. By becoming a man and laying his life down so that we may be saved. No greater love than that.
@D C You are forgetting a few things, yes God does love us but God is also Holy, righteous and just. How can a Holy God let evil go unpunished? We are all sinners and deserve what we get on judgement day. This is where the Love part comes in, He came down himself as Jesus to live a perfect sinless life so that he can be the final sacrifice for our sins. He loves us enough to suffer an extremely painful death and ridicule, imagine that the CREATOR of the universe..someone that created TIME and SPACE lowered himself to our level so that he could suffer for us. Give your life to Jesus and repent of your sins, so that on Judgement day you will be covered in his holy righteousness and be blameless in front of the Lord.

It’s weird because I always viewed the book of Job as my favorite book and always turned to it when I was struggling with anything. It’s odd how 2 people can read the same thing and understand it completely differently. I always seen it as a book about perseverance, strength, faith, and as a reminder that my problems are insignificant in comparison.
It can hold both meanings/teachings of persevering & trusting God through hard times, as well as the explanation in this video. You can read the same scripture but gain a different insight / understanding depending on what season of life you find yourself in
i have really struggled in trying to understand and. comprehend Job. When I would watch other videos, I felt like I was not getting the real message this held. Job knew who God is from the beginning. That's the reason he made up his mind to trust Him (God) even during adversity.

@@foooooolk I love that verse, which is completely out of place, but I know a Christian who walks this way, more worried about the outward appearance and the act of doing what is right. Looks down on sinners more angers than feeling bad for them. But they know the gospel and give it out. Are they saved , yeah I believe so but are they walking like a moralist yes. Try and convince them of that doesn’t work.
I liked hearing this version, Ive heard the traditional version also. Hearing different perceptive gives me a more clear understanding of how I process the Bible internally. :)

I had never thought that I was like Job; relying on my good works, but this video has given me insight into my pride. Thank you for what you do! I will be praying for you and your ministry.

The Bible itself rejects your interpretation. If Job is "blameless" but the Bible later says everyone has sinned and deserves death, "blameless" must clearly mean something different. The most clear interpretation is moral righteousness... which seems right in line with IP's interpretation.
If Job's actions are blameless but Job is a sinner, the conclusion is: Job's heart is sinful. Thr question then becomes, "How?"

My father just passed and my girlfriend can't understand why I'm not mad at God. I thought about the story of Job and needed a way to explain his story in a matter that was easy to understand. This was perfect. We both wiped away tears at the end. Thank you! May God bless you and yours!

My grandma passed away last week and a lot of people are asking me if I’m okay because I haven’t grieved since her passing. But I don’t need to because I have faith that we will one another again.
I never thought of this story in a negative way. He proved to everyone that if you trust and love Him even if you lose all your earthly belongings, you will be saved. He will give you back everything and then some! He is truly great, I love this story. Bye satan, you have nothing on God! 💕🙏🏻

_Ursieminor_ he wasn’t given back his children. He just had more children replacing the ones that were killed. This explanation of the book of Job helped me understand why Job was allowed to suffer, to restore his relationship to God.
Same here. This story always gave me hope and strengthened my faith.
Why not? The story is pessimistic even if you account for Job getting a measure of his life back. If taken literally God places tribulations into the lives of his believers nearly destroying them then gets glory from the ones that don't abandon their faith.
What's appealing to many about the book is it unflinchingly shows how nasty life can get and why many abandon the faith. It also shows a benefit in resiliance for those who remain faithful.
That said, it's an intense book of misery and not really about the uplift provided to Job in the end it's about the WHY he had to endure the suffering. The book claims God allowed it to prove a spiritual point for His own glory. The truth is on the ground level that's just life and we look to God to remain resolute throughout it as believers.

i love this! when i have misfortunes this week after asking god to help me so i talk to god asking him why and complaining then apologising for complaining and saying how confused i am and then feeling bad for feeling confused and not trusting him
i felt so bad for not having gtatitude and faith and not staying calm and steadfast but yet through it all i was being honest with god having a relationship with him , i actually felt bad for that , but this video has made me feel betterr i am a very new christian

I try to walk with him everyday and i am so so grateful for that love even though I sin everyday ..:( ii need to live this life and it is mostly a struggle .I feel this way and then something beautiful abput life will reveal itself to my eyes every day some birds flying , a flower , some sunshine ...life is still beautiful .I still have eyes to see it . 🙏
Here's my take on Job after years of struggling over this issue: Job (his life, ministry and greater purpose) was all a part of God's on going revelation and working, God's redemptive work with human kind. Job as well as few other charactors in the OT opens up this key issue that all experience. The Question of "human suffering". This was a key issue that most eastern thinkers and philosophers dwelt on. From Job's friends to King Solomon to some disciples of Jesus and even Gautama Buddha and several other eastern philosophers researched and constructed their philosophies around their experience... But instead of comprehensively answering the question the book of Job brings up the question and leaves it open, as for the rest of the bible (God's revelation) to bring about the fuller understanding. I heard a preacher that I admire once say, "Job is the question, Jesus is the answer!". How very true! If we dwell in the OT books alone we cannot find a complete answer, often we find what the OT people experienced was a foretaste of God's coming true solution (His promise), just like a stair case leading up that keeps getting cleared each season and along the generations leading to revealing of Christ. There are many things that Jobs story tells us that God is showing to us, that He had to send His son, There was no second option.
@Tom FosterFreind, if Job was saved by his actions or relationship with God alone, then are you saying, God didn't need to send his son. Jesus had to die for Job's sins and my sins. I'm saved because of Jesus. Not because of my performance.

This reminded me of how confusing Job was when I read it a long time ago. I remember I thought in the back of my mind that Job wasn't entirely righteous like is said in a stereotypical summary of the book, and ignored it out of it being too confusing. This really helped me to realize why. Praise the Lord our God as He has spoken, and thank you brother. I think God has spoken through you, I don't know for sure though.

Sadly many people don’t understand that concept and add works(repenting of sins) to salvation, and/or think one can lose salvation...
The Bible is very clear on the religion saved people should be living.. it’s not some anarchy, Woe, God will chastise his children on earth.. Though he will never send them to hell..

Wow! I’ve read Job many times. This is uplifting and changes the way I understand Job.
Actually, one small detail. You uncharitably bash the crap out of Job for no reason. Job learns a big lesson in this trial, but he didn't go from a moralist to a gospel believer. He went from the greatest most humble gospel believer to the even greater and more humble gospel believer. God taught him that He can do whatever He wants to whoever He wants to do it to and nobody can stop Him. Job learned to humble himself even more. The lesson that Job learns isn't some radical conversion but a radical step of greater sanctification.
Bless You! I finally get the anwer that I'm looking for. I wondered why the father of the prodigal son bless him and not his righteous brother. It is because he returned to his father, let go his pride and realized his father's worth and love. Same lesson about the story of Job. To love God and to not appease Him.Thanks!!! All this time I misunderstood the Book of Job...? I remember some scholars in my former High School taught Job in different light like in the lines of: "Job is faithful although bad things happened to him because he had enough faith for God, so he was blessed in the end!" And it is crazy how my educational book in High School told the Parable of Prodigal Son, but it only focuses on the Hedonist Son, not the Moralist Son...

I disagree w/ video, is if it's all about "Works." Because Noah did not actually WALK with God, he heard God. Abraham & Moses either saw the Finger of God, or
a burning bush. Adam and Job did WALK WITH GOD, as those who the Bible says; Face to Face, as a man speaketh to another. This Video wrongly
reinterprets the whole point, bc of the mundane WORKS vs. GRACE controversy. The Book of Job's lessons vary, but central, is that this man Walked with

Thank you as I read the Bible for most of my 54 years on this earth but I never fully understood it. This teaching answered my direct prayer for understanding my suffering and sin. I can say God revealed to me my failings and gave me so much insight into my motives and lack of a true relationship (not religion) with him and how I need to repent and trust Him in the battle I’m facing. I am humbled as I started being cynical and questioned why God allowed the trials in my life. My present trial is very hard but I need to trust God and talk to him from my heart not just follow religion doctrine. I am thankful for this teaching as I was ready to end my life as I did not think I could take a minute more of my suffering. I also thank God for the insight given of book of Job. It’s funny but I read Job many times but never fully understood its true meaning. Thank you. You inadvertently saved my life. Now I will distribute this video to as many as God leads me to.

@@daleeloph5038 Perhaps because of that virtue maybe it led to pride? And God wanted him to see that. Towards the end of the book, Job realized he is truly under the mercy of God, as we all are till our last day. I guess why Paul taught fight the good fight till the end. Pray we will be counted worthy. Jesus taught, "Strive to enter the narrow gate". If we get comfortable with our moralism it could possibly cause us to fall into self righteousness not counting on the Righteousness of Christ to save us. Isaiah said, all our righteousness is like filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6).
We were all sinners and saved by the mercy and grace of God through the atoning blood of Christ who took our punishment and gave us all instead a "get out of jail free" card. Now we wear the righteous of Christ not our own. There is not enough good we can do in the flesh which will or can atone for our sins/sinful nature. It has already been done. Jesus said on the cross, "It is finished". I guess we need to live a life acknowledging Christ work on the cross and the liberty we have in Him bearing the fruits of the Spirit. And never get comfortable in our flesh that we have anything good in us with the exception of His Spirit who dwells in all those who have personally received Jesus as their Savior. Mic Saul I am glad you have a good understanding of God. I am still searching and learning. This is indeed a narrow road and it has been a difficult one for me. But I can truly say every hardship I have suffered for Christ sake was worth it because I love my Lord Jesus. I am so grateful that God has given me a beautiful and loving family. But there is none like Him. I look forward to that glorious day when I will see Him face to face. I have never felt like I am paying rent. Freely He gave to me my redemption when I called onto Him. It is said of Job that he was a servant of God, blameless, upright, one who reverenced or feared God and turned away from evil. Throughout Scripture this is the description God gives of the truly righteous (Gen. 6:9, Ps. 32:11, 112:4, Prov. 2:21, 3:32, 11:5, 20, 13:6, 14:2, 11, 16:17, Luke 1:6, etc. Scripture never uses such words to describe a legalist or a “moralist.” The Pharisees were “moralists” which Christ described as those who clean the outside of the cup and dish; but their inside was full of greed and wickedness (Luke 11:39). They were hypocrites (Matt. 23:13) and God would never use terms like upright and blameless to describe their character as He did Job. God Himself said in Ezekiel 14:13,14, “If a country sins against Me by being unfaithful, and I stretch out My hand against it…even though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only save themselves.” In other words, God picked three righteous men of exemplary character that would be well known to the people. To accuse Job of being a moralist or of being legalistic contradicts God own words in describing Job.

There are many revelations throughout Job's story. For one, Satan exposed the fact that the believer has a hedge of protection around them. With that being said not only is the hedge of protection around them but that of there children, house and car. (possessions that the Lord blessed him with..)
There is no hedge of protection around believers. And, if there was, God doesn't seem to provide it for all believers.
Dont forget wife. The woman is also a possession.

I want to love this view of Job. I want it to satisfy the itch I get when I read Job to find a reason for the suffering! I want to (in my best Jim Carey impersonation) yell out "AND THE TRUTH, SHALL SET YOU FREEEE"!
However.... I can't escape that this way of thinking creates a vicious circle. If we say moralism is the reason for Job's suffering isn't that in fact... moralism. It seems like the point of it is to NOT be linked to Job's actions. So we aren't looking for reasons for our hardships... or other's hardships (like Job's friends). But to trust God with the why and know that he has a plan.

Job is walking with God. God allowed satan to test job for God knew Job's heart. Job did talk and walk with God.
Job is the positive version of the prodigal son. John McArthur has a great rendition, but one thing that would have punched this up a little bit is if IP would have included it. Basically the story is part of an oral tradition, and so the stanzas should be balanced, 1 stanza about younger, 1 about older sons. However the last stanza of the story of the older son is missing. That is because it was written days later when the Pharisees (recall who the audience was of the parable), crucified Jesus.
So when IP says that moralism is more dangerous? It cause the Pharisees to crucify Christ, so I'd say that's far more dangerous than hedonism, as it puts you above God.

I'm thinking this story is about grace and God's unconditional love vs. satan's law of legalism.
God was gracious to Job, which led to Job having abundance, and good works, but Satan wants to impose that his law is more fair and just.
So satan inflict a huge "karma" against job equal to how much undeserved grace Job has received from God, and that leads to destruction, death, and torment.
This story shows the iniquity of Satan's rule, and how his ways make us question God's integrity and mercy and truth. But in the end, just like in revelation, God will appear with great power and redeem and restore all creation. Not because we earned it, but because He can do it and that is what He wants for us: a good life even if we dont deserve or have worked to deserve it.
How did Job have a warped view of God being "blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil."?

You forget what the Almighty said to the friends of Job and that He actually admitted Job was righteous. From KJV: 7 And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the Lord commanded them: the Lord also accepted Job.
10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Not only is this a great point but it shows that Job is a foreshadowing of Messiah who would suffer for others and offer a sacrifice on their behalf. I do agree that Job has a lack in his relationship with God, but it’s not a moralism or a lack of faith. Think also of 19:25 “I know my redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth....And yet in my flesh I shall see God.”

Facts💯💯💯💯. I dont agree with this teaching. Job 1;8. God the Father said to satan. Have you considered my SERVANT Job. There is no one on earth like him. He is a BLAMLESS and upright who fears God and hate evil. Why would the Father call Job His servant and talk highly of Him if Job was a man who only love God because of His provisions. He have good points but I believe he is off on the character of Job. Blessings!
