This was my wife's favorite Stones song, she always sang it loud and off key but it made me smile.

A “beast of burden” is basically a work animal - like a mule or a horse that has to pull something or carry something for someone. Mick’s basically saying I’m not your door mat I think.
Beast Of Burden refers to a work animal like an OX or Horse. The beast takes on the burden of labour for a farmer etc. Love this song, next check out "Under my Thumb"
I love the *sound* of Under My Thumb. It sounds like Motown!

My favorite Stones songs besides this one: “Tumbling Dice” “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”. Also, “Waiting on a Friend” has a vibe like this song. Also, a beast of burden is an animal that carries heavy stuff on its back - like a mule, donkey, or (I suppose) a camel.

Love the stones they were the last concert my mom saw when she had a year to live fighting liver cancer and the make a wish foundation gave her tickets to see them at the Toyota center in Houston Texas
From the Stones same album, "Some Girls", I HIGHLY recommend the songs: "Miss You" and "Shattered".
And another Stones song that "Beast of Burden" reminds me of is: "Waiting on a Friend" from their "Tattoo You" album three years after "Some Girls".

back in the 70s i bought a Quadraphonic stereo ! with 8 tracks casettes ! but there was only a few bands who did Quadraphonic 8 track casettes and The Rolling Stones was one of em ! also the BeeGees and Aquarius song from i can t remember wich band ! i m 66 years old ! my memory is not that good anymore ! I just want to brag a little bit here, my brother is a musician and has been in bands all his life. Last summer the band he is currently in opened half a dozen times for the Rolling Stones for there American tour. Recently, he informed the family that the Stones want them to go to Amsterdam to open for them there!!! It's pretty exciting and I just had to share!!! :D i love what you two do, keep it up!!!
I have since found out that they will be opening for them for 3 of their European Concerts. The name of the group is The Ghost Hounds and my brother is their keyboard man. The Ghost Hounds have a facebook page with some of their music, if anyone might be interested.

Discographies ever. For hard hitting, cool, mean rock listen to honky tonk woman, brown sugar and can’t you hear me knocking.
No band comes close to these cats. They did it all - and blew us all away. Their music is timeless and powerful.

The Stones literally have 50 songs that are just great. Many never get old. They're really on another level. Their body of work is unmatched.

We got to see "The Stones" a few years back. We were shocked to see Mick Jager running, skipping and jumping all over the stage. I am talking a full-size stage with a really long runway out into the stadium. The sound was great, and we were so excited to get to see the guys play live. It was an experience of a lifetime and a definite bucket list event!
The two sides of the initial " British Invasion", the relatively clean cut Beatles and the rowdy Rolling Stones!! The Beatles may have been bigger, but lord the Stones could rock!!!
The Stones deliberately became the opposite of the Beatles - and that took some kind of guts.
" Respectable " " Mixed Emotions " are well worth a listen
I wore the grooves off of the Respectable track. Listening to the driving beat and the two guitars dance with each other blew me away. It still gives me goosebumps and makes me feel 25 again.
"Shes so Cold" and "Shattered" are their best tunes. The vocals are mind blowing in both of them. Of course, "Driving too Fast" is a real gem that no one ever talks about.

"Gimme Shelter" is probably my favorite RS song, mostly because of Merry Clayton's vocals. I know Jay has reacted to it but has Amber heard it?

Great selection! Really picked one of the best Stones here. Charlie Watts was such a unique drummer. This version really separates the Ronnie and Keith guitars. Look for Bette Midler's cover of this tune with Mick. Hopefully you could react to the theatrical version with no problems . Thank you. Thank you. Oh! A beast of burden is a cruelly-treated donkey overloaded with a lot of stuff. My fav live tune is "Sympathy for the Devil" version from "Get Yer Ya Yas Out". There's no video version I'm aware of...

One of the greatest concert films is, imo, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones. Filmed at their absolute peak in the early 70s. Check out Happy! or Midnight Rambler from that one.

Whenever I listened to the Stones, they always remind me of a bunch of friends at a cookout, jamming around a bonfire. There is just a relaxed feeling that sounds like they are just jamming on the front porch.

Also as far as the Stones go...Waitng on a Friend is one of their best in my opinion...love the music in it...again..just my opinion...I tend to pay more attention to the instrumentals than the words sometimes but the words are good too. The instrumentals are really good in Quarterflashes Find Another Fool....I know how impressed you were with her sax playing in your first reaction to them but its much better in Find Another Fool...she is outstanding.

I find it quite amusing that there are people in the world who spend a lot of their time trying to decode something that is, at the end of the day, completely undecodable. The Rolling Stones had a lot of competition through out their career. The Beatles, Areosmith , for rockers to name some. He did a duo with David Bowie -Dancing in the Street. The Rolling Stone in the 80's had six albums out but Tatoo You and Emotional Rescue was big ones in the 80's . They have had albums since 1964 . Let's spend the night together, Brown sugar,Honky Talk women, You can't always get what you want, and waiting on a friend. Great songs hard to say wich is better live.

Aerosmith wasn’t competition. They were an attempt at being a copy cat band. Tyler stole Jaggers look. Perry copied Richards look down to the leather and white poets shirt and the eyeliner and hairstyle. Even put the blond streak in his hair that Keith did in 72-72. Then on top of that The two from Aerosmith called themselves the Toxic Twins which is a rip off of Jagger and Richards being The Glimmer Twins. Their only competition ever were the Beatles. Richards gives them the nod and said they started it all and the Stones wouldn’t have been around if not for the Beatles

Saw the Stones in concert in the 90s. It was a great show. Jagger doesn’t stop the whole show. Stones Unplugged is also a great album.

There are so many roadhouse classics from the Stones you should listen to. Honky Tonk Women, Brown Sugar, Jumpin Jack Flash, etc.
As a "baby boomer" (72 y.o.), I recall the RS's and the Beatle's being two of the top1 British Invasion bands who got their start back in the early '60s, first in Europe and later moving across the "Pond" to the States. When they got here, one of their first gigs was on the Ed Sullivan show in NYC, a weekly hour-long variety show that was very popular for many years. Their acts filled concert halls and sports stadiums. At first their songs came out on 45 rpm records, which were monaural and held only two songs, one per side. Then later in the '60s they moved to the 33 1/3 rpm stereo albums. Their songs were almost always on the top 40 stations like WABC in NYC hosted by the disc jockeys Cousin Brucie and Harry Harrison and on the west coast, Wolfman Jack. Those and other bands experimented with many different sounds and themes and their music was a major influence on my generation. Of course, many parents, like my own, were horrified by this 'new' and different sound.

The Stones have been playing together for about SIXTY years - Mick and Keith and Charlie (RIP Charlie) so there are literally decades of great live performances to choose from. You might get a kick of some of the performances on the Ed Sullivan show with the girls in the audience going a little crazy!

Saw them in 87 in a football stadium, awesome. Before they came on stadium was dark, then boom!, two big explosions on the stage then Jagger and band started with Start me up, which is a great song to listen to for you two. Stones have so many hits 1964-2000’s
So many to choose from with the Stones, their scope and variety over the years is iconic. Check out "Angie", "She's So Cold" or "Hang Fire". So many options, go crazy!!!

Released in 1978, Beast of Burden is one of so many bluesy songs. The Stones came out during the British Invasion of music in the sixties and followed the blues track of music whereas the Beatles followed the pop side. So amazing!

There are certain artists that you'll be reacting to as long as you have this channel. They just have so many songs that you'll never run out. This is one of my favorite Rolling Stones hits! My favorite live performance was Mick Jagger with Tina Turner at Live Aid in 1985. They performed a medley of State of Shock and Its Only Rock and Roll! It’s really an amazing performance! Their guitarist Ronnie Wood has an incredible history of playing in some fantastic bands, including Faces with Rod Stewart.
and played bass on the first two Jeff Beck Group albums before he & Rod left the band to team up with the remaining members of the Small Faces
