- Robert Ripley is hauled into court for his wild claims. 'The Star Spangled Banner' is actually an old english drinking song! The Statue of Liberty Sits on a Prison! The Man-Eating Tree of Madagascar Eats Young Virgin in Cheesy Cartoon! Young boy dies of old age!

And soon after this film aired, Congress passed a resolution that the Star Spangled Banner would officially be the national anthem of the USA.
To be fair, the said killer tree may have been extinct after WW2.
The Statue of Liberty on top of a prison? Crazy, man!
Why is the volume so low on this?
This Video was so difficult to find I was looking up what ripley meant by the claim America had no national anthem. I know this Video is from 1930 and it was made a national anthem in 1931.
I alrady know there was no lead in pencils :)
Years ago I used the same strategy in my murder trial

Man-eating tree? I believe it not.
I would have believed it more if he had actual films and actual pics not showing off his artistic abilities. Here I'll draw a picture of it for you. LOL
what happen to man-eating tree???is it still exists today??
It's actually one of the few things Ripley has presented that turned out to be a hoax. Then again, he probably got the info second-hand. Surprising, since he had a few guys dedicated to verifying all his claims.
Thoralmir so....it's just a hoax.....damn it.....a part of me wish it to be true......thanks for the info btw.....appreciate it....
Well, that's what the evidence points to. Then again, Madagascar has been so heavily deforested that it's entirely possible that there may have been a large carnivorous plant there. Maybe not big enough to consume a person, but you never know.
I couldn't hear anything.
Who brings a chalkboard to trial?!?!?
That's his laptop....
