I just finally watched Oppenheimer a few days ago, and feel so strongly that his performance will stand the test of time in the pantheon of great performances. Well chosen by the BAFTAs and I hope the Oscars follow suit.

There are a few actors and actresses who I feel have been overlooked for years despite incredible talent. Cillian is one of them. So glad he's getting the recognition he deserves now! Others that pop into my mind right now are Paul Dano, Mads Mikkelsen, Joel Kinnaman, and Ciarán Hinds.

Words can’t describe how happy I am for Cillian Murphy. He absolutely is the rightful & most deserving winner for Best Actor. Also making history as the first Irishman to win in this category. I truly love all the nominees but when I watched Oppenheimer… I felt changed. Cillian’s performance just hit me hard so viscerally & profoundly. I have been unable to shake it since. I’ll never forget the haunted, troubled look in his eyes at the end of the film for as long as I live.
He’s remarkable as Oppenheimer & just masterclass actor. Congrats Cillian. I hope you sweep the rest of the awards season 👏 👏

It's Cilian's time. Giamatti was very good in The Holdovers and I consider that film a future Christmas cult classic, but Cilian was amazing in Oppenheimer and carried an immense weight on his shoulders that played onto his character.

@susiex6669 of course, but Shelby was his most iconic lead role, but it still is questionable that he was never nominated for his other performances in major awards
@@eseroma Ken Loach won the Palme D'Or at Cannes for The Wind that Shakes the Barley released in 2006. Its where most of us first caught a glimpse of Cillian Murphy's acting talent. I think Cillian Murphy's opening scene in 28 Days Later is far more iconic than Thomas Shelby, as great as Peaky Blinders is.
