  • The sages of ancient India provide a unique and powerful solution to the problem of fear and anxiety in their teachings of Vedanta. Q&A with Swamiji #11.
According to the sages of ancient India (rishis) as expressed in the non-dual teachings of Advaita Vedanta, ignorance (ajnana) of your true, divine nature (atma) lies at the root of all human suffering. While the problems of the body and mind are inescapable, it is possible to discover your true nature to be independent of your body and mind, knowing that peace and contentment are your essential nature and not dependent on worldly matters (samsara).
Swami Tadatmananda is a traditionally-trained teacher of Advaita Vedanta, meditation, and Sanskrit. For more information, please see: www.arshabodha.org/

I was experiencing a full spiritual awakening before getting covid19. My case was mild to moderate, with severe throat infection, shortness of breath and more. I could feel, viscerally show fear blocks the flow. While before there was energy surging through my spine and 'feeding' me with energy and creativity, the fear of dying cut off the flow around the neck area. 6 months later, I still have symptoms (long haul case), but I have become better at reaching the state of non-identification and joy again.
At one point during my journey these past months, I briefly entered the state where the breath can heal everything. When you are there, it is so obvious. However, I know no one who can remain in that state consistently. That aside, and without expectations, it’s clear to me that spiritual practice has a positive effect on healing.

    Swamiji, Namaste!
Your lectures gift to our hearts parashanti - the greatest peace and tranquility.
As the supreme grace of Satguru Sri Ramana Maharshi, I quote a few of his invaluable words:
1001. Existence [Sat] itself shines as Consciousness [Chit].
Therefore, until the mind [chittam] is completely extinguished
and [thereby] becomes the absolute Existence-Consciousness [kevala Sat-Chit],
it is impossible for the petty mind, which is a false imagination [kalpana],
a reflection of Consciousness [chit-abhasa], to see the reality,
which is the non-dual supreme Сonsciousness.
    465. Since at all times and in all places the unmistakable
Self [Atman] alone shines eternally as the one Thing,
except That, all other things at all times and in all
places have to be dismissed as false.
[What is called ‘time and place’ itself is false.]
    867. God, who seems to be non-existent, alone is ever
    existing,
while oneself [the individual], who seems to be existing, is ever non-existent.
The state of thus seeing one’s own non-existence
can alone be said to be the supreme Jnana.
    (Guru Vachaka Kovai)
    OM TAT SAT

This is a really good way of overcoming fear. Can you please do an episode on Vedanta's view of suicide? Is it good or bad, does it really matter. Any knowledge how it effects the soul vs natural death?
