Beautiful car - I love all the original paperwork, unused gold keys, key code puchouts. I sold new GM cars way back when, and I made many extra keys for buyers using GM key pliers in which you first set the depth of each pin cut by moving levers, then you repeatedly squeezed the cutting pliers to make each cut. As long as I had the punchout code I could make a perfect factory key every time.
Interesting observations about southern and northern cars. I’ve known quite a few people who would buy a car like that Brougham and just baby it, actually “put to bed” for the winter, and they never have seen bad weather.
My late father-in-law used to keep all the records for his cars the way this owner did. He also kept a book that contained every service done, even every gasoline purchase, and his calculation of miles per gallon.
I do the same thing with all of my vehicles. I use a book to record all these things that I don’t find in the office supply stores anymore. The last time I needed one the store had to special order 12 of them so I offered to buy all of them but they decided to sell me only 6. I still have one left. I drive all my cars to 200,000 +. My current is an ‘05 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 w/260,000 miles.
I have 2 ‘63 Caddy’s. A 4 window Sedan deVille with 164,000 miles and a Parts car ‘63 Plain Jane Coupe - even has crank windows!! Ha ha!!

What an automobile! IN the best color combo WITH cloth seats! Contrary to popular belief, leather isn't always better. Anthony you are so right about the Northern car moldings and trim holding up better. The humidity with cooler temps is ideal. My 85 Riv was in remarkable condition when I picked it up in GA in 2003, it's first 12 yrs were in WI, garaged. Southern cars do well if they are used sparingly and always garaged, like my 2019 V6 Impala in AZ. One of the last V6 sedans before they disappeared from the market. No more at Ford, Buick, Chevy, Honda, VW, even Cadillac (the Blackwing twin 6 turbo is the last). Camry is the sole sedan left with V6, for a limited time, Avalon was just chopped from production. I didn't test drive my new Impala, V6, 6 speed trans, without stop/start in the colors I wanted, SOLD!

Cool rides and cool trip Anthony! You are 100% correct on southern "rust free" cars having dry rot issues. I've been in Texas most of the past 25 years and my 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited, bought new outside Dallas, has gone through lots of tires and other rubber items due to dry rot. Even though I do actually drive the car...has 120k miles now. It spends lots of time in the garage, a very dry/hot environment. To me it's just a cost of having the car this long, and I happily replace things long before I "should" need to. No interest in moving back home to Boston....too expensive, too cold...haha. Look forward to seeing how the 1990 Brougham turns out after you "fix it" up...haha.

Agree with old cars crap happens philosophy in buying. The selling dealer on gold keys was the original dealer on my 84 Sedan Deville! Mine was in Eau Claire, WI.
