Their pro level saws are incredible. The old stuff is all designed and made in Germany and it is obvious when you start getting into them. The designs and choices they made back then were all about providing the best product money could buy. They still make decent stuff, but it doesn't have the same quality feel as the older Zero series, and the newer "greener" engines aren't the same. I don't care about fuel economy and how much cleaner it is. I want a nasty ass big power saw that will drive a 40" bar through rock maple and oak trees and get me home and hour earlier. The newer stuff is like Stihl Light....lol...still leaps and bounds better than the other offerings. If you haven't tried a pro level Stihl machine, you really need to.

That was pretty awesome! Novel, but awesome!!
Just a nerdy FYI, gas powered chainsaws vibrate on purpose to add a little bite the cutting action, there's a long winded explanation but the bottom line is "Vibration" is a "Good Thing" when it comes to chainsaws :-)
Even some electric chainsaws have an eccentric weight ("Vibrator") added to the output shaft to help the chain teeth bite into the wood.

Outdoor power equipment dealership for over 20 years,
Sold, and serviced a number of brands over the years.
That's the first time I have ever heard that !

Never heard of the "vibration" approach before, sorry !

    • @SalisburySnake
      @SalisburySnake Před 2 lety

@@quadsman11 I'm a bit skeptical myself. But I have heard a story about single cylinder hillclimb motorcycles beating out their 4 cylinder competitors. The reason why was not revealed until they used a high speed camera. The pulsating of the rear wheel helps it regain traction rather than continue to spin.
Regardless, electric is most likely the future of chainsawing, even for pros. It should be possible to build a motor with pulsating power delivery without just adding a vibrating weight to the shaft, if that is found to be necessary.

Just what the world needs - a jet powered chainsaw!

Cool! I really think so. But bonus, that test bench is just a one inch tip from a Guinness record setting projectile demonstration. With stronger-than-skin slicing edges! And just to be sure, other Bubba stands about 2 feet away. Well, duh, wouldn't we all?!
So Guinness for one ... and, um, "Darwin?"
But hey, it's really smooth with no vibration. And Stihl's are impeccably balanced. Never mind then.

Probably using a model heli gearbox. Neat idea.

That's awesome. It would be hard to supply enough clean air during sawing operations, and it would gobble the fuel.
Probably runs smoother than a Husky!
    Fire hazard?

It doesn't matter if it has the torque, it " out Cools" all others. Stihls are just plain hard to beat.

Husqvarna. Especially in the cold. Stihls don't like the cold.

stihl’s are hard to start, hard to keep running, and even harder to get rid of. Husqvarna if you want to “git er done”

Wow I wonder what that little thing will do after ya kick the tires and light the fires. Gotta see a demo someday of that turbine chain saw in action

Although it may not be as practical as a gas saw I'd love to have one just for the cool factor.

    Another great video Juan .
I’m to old for that chainsaw .
A 5 gallon gas can backpack for it would weigh around 31.5 pounds .

Yep. There's a reason 2 strokes are used in basically every yard tool application.
Light, best power to weight, simple and easily maintained.
