good question. I would look into using a spline IK for that situation. That would let you have a chain with some slack in it and also be able to constrain to the 2 different points(the collar and the humans hand)

Thanks for the vid. Helped me to recap knowledge for a project. Only trouble I am having is I am using this on a skeleton and trying to attach a bone to a point helper rather than an object. I have also attempted to just move the object but that didn't work at all because of the skeleton. Any ideas on how I could get this to work?

Hi, thank you for the help video. Nevertheless the only thing that I wondering you didn't even mention: how to constraint the object position in one axis only?

Greetings Polymonger, Love the tutes. I was wonder how to go about rigging what I would call a Chicken leg or what you would find on a robot or Mech. I'm working on a robot with such and having a very hard time with it. Thx Kakubot

Dude, very nice video. Very helpful. Newbie to max here - transitioning from another software. If I want to delete the constraint in a later stage, how do I do it? I don't mean deleting the target in the constrain rollout under the motion tab. I mean really giving the object back the freedom to move it with the move tool. Both in Maya and Softimage, all you need to do is delete the constrain node controlling it, how do we replicate this process in Max? thanks.

How would you constrain for example a dog on a lead. With one end of the lead as a collar around the dogs neck and the other end either held by a character or wrapped around a post.

question, what is the difference between position constraints and link object?

Can you limit it that the driver object only affects one or two axes of the following constraint object? Let’s say just X and Y but not Z?
