Man, it feels good to get on the road! It's our first time taking Aston the Maui campervan on the motorway (or any real distance really) so we're excited and anxious to get this party started!
Leaving Auckland we're bound for the Coromandel, a super popular spot on the East Coast of New Zealand known for it's awesome beaches. Our plan was to visit Cathedral Cove, but parking in a 7.2 metre motorhome isn't exactly straight forward and we're already a day behind on our vanlife mission. We might have to save Cathedral Cove for our next trip, but we do make it to Hot Water Beach.
Hot Water Beach is probably the most well known spot in the Coromandel and is world famous in New Zealand 🤣 It's natural hot water you can dig up in certain areas on the beach, how do you find the right area? Haha, watch the video and you'll find out.
Reveal NZ is a 20+ part video series, so make sure you're subscribed to follow along with all episodes here: goo.gl/SWdJQH More than just taking a motorhome around New Zealand, it's about how to travel New Zealand, the top tourist spots, the hidden local gems, incredible day trips, extreme activities, amazing accommodation and a spot of wining and dining... It's about making you feel like you're along for the travels with us, so grab a drink of your poison, sit back and get ready for 5 weeks driving in a campervan hire from Auckland to The Catlins.

As an American, I envy NZ for getting their shit together and managing COVID
Yeah sadly though there's a fast growing voice of morons like you have screaming about their rights and being conspiratorial about the virus.
That's understandable! We're definitely not perfect though, it's still here but we are grateful for how it's been handled so far.
This video makes me want to go to NZ. Everything looks breathtaking and the water so clear and blue.
It's definitely worth a visit ☺️
New Zealand so beautiful i love to visit someday.
I should start saving for this kind of trip in NZ... it’ll be a trip of a lifetime. thanks for sharing the video.
i love Dan's self-irony :D "I will be more cautious!" :D
Haha Dane loves to have a laugh!
Beautiful road trip, New Zealand is one if the place in the world that I want to go.
It's such a beautiful place!
Dan, speedy recovery to you, buddy! Please update us on your surgery when time allows. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for ya. All the best from Ukraine.
All the best to YOU now...Slava Ukraine...from NZ !!
From October no cars can park at Cathedral Cove - they have a park and ride from Hahei. Hopefully that will help anyone else thinking of going there. Great video guys... hurry up with the next ones!!
Thank you, just posted a new one! Yeah, it's all good to park there in the winter when we were there though. We only struggled because of the size of our van :)
Beautiful country. Very best wishes for your recovery Dane. Loving this series already.
Everything I thought this trip would be! Ok, some logistical stuff like parking a stonking great camper van, but that's nothing compared to the freedom of the open road and a whole beautiful country to explore! 💥
So true! We expected some teething problems in the beginning but nothing we can't handle 😜 Exciting times ahead! (and a few more challenges along the way)
oooooo very excite, road trip underway! i liiiiiike!
That hot water beach might help your back feel better
These edits are breathtaking. I have always wanted to do travel videos like yours.
Hopefully, if you could give an advice or two about the tips of where to start to get to your quality travel video.
Enjoying your content, folks. Envious of your missions. And Stacey is adorable.
Sorry to hear about your back. Back pain sucks. I’ve injured mine a couple times and it really sucks. Hopefully it heals quickly.
Iam so glad you guys got to travel again. I really missed your vlogs.
Dane, take care of your back. I wish I could take care of you. Iam a massage therapist.
Dane and Stacey, you guys are adorable together.
Keep on travelling !!!!!
Much love to you guys. Its so much fun to follow you along the trip. Next time stay in the Coromandel for a wee bit longer, i'd love to hang out with you :) xx
I love all your adventures! Excited for the coming episodes ♥️♥️♥️
Feels like I'm learning so much about New Zealand virtually 💞💞💞💞. Thanks for this.
A great start to your adventure in the van! We love ours. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀👍
Fantastic stuff team! I enjoy that you show some of the tricky stuff campervanning, that one would need to learn along the way too.
You're Amazing Guys. I enjoyed each second of it,Well done keep it up
Living my travel dreams through you two right now! Can't wait for the next video!
Yaaay, happy to have you along for the journey!
Just the beginning of your NZ series and I'm already loving it!
LOVE hearing this!
Looks so beautiful there! Reminds me a bit of parts of Australia.
I do miss NZ. Thanks fo your lovely clip.
It is nice to finally have a New Zealander do a van life video of our country. Thank you!!!
We watched our fair share of van life videos from tourists and were left scratching our heads a little! Happy to hear this, thank you!
Hey guys your trip looks awesome so far, can’t wait to be able to leave AKL again!
So incredibly excited for this series!! I feel like the longer videos really help you tell the story better and truly making us feel like we're with you. Keep it up guys!
That's awesome to hear, we're really enjoying mixing it up and trying something different / longer!
Excellent content as usual ❤️
hae guys this was awesome cant wait to see more of your travel around nz how blessed are we to be living in this beautiful country
So true! We're really grateful to call NZ home!
Love how you guys are so humble
Too kind, thank you!
Y'all are such a delight to watch. Your style makes it feel like I'm hanging out with close friends. I'm so glad I'm just discovering y'all so I can watch the backlog of travel videos. Safe travels!
That's exactly what we want, to feel like you're hanging out with us and coming along on the adventure! Hope you enjoy the vids (minus our first ones where we have no idea what we're doing, those are awkwaaaaard 😂)
The video is great guys! 💖 it has a really different feel from the other videos you've made in the past, it feels much more vloggy and has more of your personalities, personal challenges and history together in it. Love it!!!! 💖
It's been so fun to try something a little different, glad you're enjoying it! ❤️
Great video thanks for uploading. Found page when looking at new Zealand on CZcams.
Looking forward to next episode 🙂 on what looks like a fascinating country.
So happy you found us!
Awesome footage of our holiday park. Thanks so much. Hope you had a great time here.
We had an awesome time, thank you! Hopefully we'll be back again sometime :)
Wonderful video .... stay safe
It's fun watching you two. As a Kiwi who's been out of NZ for 42 years; it's warming to be re-united with New Zealand again . Thanks You two are lovely people !.
Thank you for these videos. I was out in Tauraunga in 2019 and it truly is a gorgeous little town. I might have teared up seeing it because it felt like home away from home. These videos are just what I needed during this annoying pandemic. 🥲🥲🥲🥰🥰🥰
Our pleasure! We're glad you enjoyed and it brought back some memories
A memory surfaced this morning that a year ago I was off on another drifting journey and that here I was a year later, still waiting to journey again...so these episodes are going fuel my thirst to go somewhere before the end of the year (if possible) probably the baseline of the SI which I missed to getting to on my Mar 2019 journey. Looking forward to have lower level here in Aucks next week...
Loving the series guys. I like how you discuss your fears along the way. Will be interesting to see how confident and comfortable you are by day 4 or 5.
Thanks Phil! We always think it's important to paint a realistic picture of things. Definitely feeling more confident already!
Hopefully you have better luck on the rest of the trip! (although from the little previews it looks like you do). Can't wait to keep watching!
Thank you! We definitely face some challenges along the way but it's so worth it 😁
Got quite a few hours of annual leave saved up at work, might be time for a second campervan trip, Hope your back doesn't bother you too much dan.
Not only are you guys providing great visual content, but I love the way you’re keeping it real by including little interactions between the two of you and also lots of practical information. Loving it!
Aww thanks Leanne! We're so happy to hear you're enjoying the series already :)
That must have been a challenge driving that massive campervan down those narrow, windy roads! NZ looks stunning!
Luckily we're used to NZ roads so not too difficult to us, we imagine as a tourist it would be a little daunting though!
Great Adventure 👍👌👌❣️❣️
I really enjoyed viewing this. The scenery is breathtaking and so different from what I am used to seeing in Canada. I do hope your back pain is manageable. Looking forward to the next installment!
We just posted a new video 😋 So happy to hear you enjoyed this one!
I enjoy watching cause you guys work hard on production! And do damn good.
Thanks so much!
So sorry to hear about your back Dane! 😢 So excited to see this Kiwi series, loving it already, we are so lucky to live here.
Thanks Chris! Totally agree, we're grateful to be here!
a deasil heater won't use but a few gallons a night I was a truck driver I used a what is called an apu.
Found your channel few days ago and saw your NZ Roadtrip trailer. Really hyped to see the upcoming videos!
Welcome to the fam! We're happy you found us!
You are very good guys👍I enjoy every your video, you are the best, simple, kind and really interesting couple🤗❤👍
Glad you like them! thanks
Wow, this is really fun. We're well aware of usa RV camping but this NZ experience is totally different. Really nice rig too. There's no Mercedes RV Campers like that in North America yet, but wow, what a smart set-up.
Love the energized feeling of this edit, moves quickly but still spontaneous. We're totally enjoying this😁
You two should consider a USA camper road trip. We’re getting used to our new Gulf Coast beach life, which you guys would love. But for now we're totally into following wherever these NZ travels end up.
Thanks guys, Sending our Best, James and Kim
We're really happy we paid a little extra for the luxury of a new, well set up campervan. Interesting to hear there arent any like this in North America! We would definitely love to do a USA roadie once things settle down of course. As always, we appreciate the love and you coming back to watch week after week!
We are loving these videos! We visited NZ from the U.K. last August and hired the same motorhome for 2 weeks. We loved it. Only did a fraction of your trip though & plan to do South Island....one day!
Oh you will absolutely LOVE the south island!
This video makes me want to rent a camper van and do this, too!! How fun!! Also, it tells me I need to visit New Zealand!!
DO IT!!! 😁
Sure is beautiful! Please be careful with your back!
Danger mate take it easy aye with your back. We still wanna see more of you and Stacey doing awesome travel stuff :)
Im pushing the limits 🤣
That hot water beach looks awesome! How uniquely Kiwi too! Note to self, need to bring shovel when we visit!
It's suuuper easy to rent one, most places around the area have them for hire.
Looks amazing the views 🥰 😅stacey its busy. Emm you just mentioned “ school holidays”😜
Take care Dan of your back 🤔.
Have a Great trip enjoying van life !!
Haha the whole not having kids thing definitely means we don't really think about what that means oopsss! Dane says thank you :)
Love that you two always put the prices up for everything you pay for! It's so helpful, and I love that it's just a little quiet blip in the corner. Worried about your back, Daneger! 🙁 By the way, your winter is a LOT prettier than my winter! Everything is still pretty and green for you guys!
We like to make videos that are less about us and more about helping other people plan their travels! Dane says thank you for the well wishes 😁
@@DanegerAndStacey you guys do a fantastic job and we love seeing you both as well! Hope his back heals quickly!
This is so beautiful! The views of the ocean, the place you got to stay and the little spa pools 🥰 the stories of the people there made me laugh! Especially the one with the lady and her book 📖 🛀🏽! 😂😂 I’m not an expert by any means but that looks like the lumbar region and vertebrae number 7 in that region, because the one further down is your sacrum as that’s 5 fused bones. Hope you’re ok and it’s not causing you too many problems! 🥰
So cute how everyone was just living their best life on the beach! Danes going to have some more tests soon so hopefully we can get some more info.
Daneger and Stacey whatever happens and whatever it is, I really really hope he’s ok!! 🥰
First of all I want to say I hope you won't suffer a lot of pain in your back on your trip Dane💕
Can't wait for the next video take care until then love from 🇮🇪💚🍀😘
BTW when you get back home they will be a Keg aka barrel of Guinness for ye both 👍😂💚
Hobbiton vlog went up earlier this morning! Oooh that would be a dream haha
With every video NZ moves up on our tavel list. Sorry to hear about Dangers back. Back pain sucks and affects so much from peace of mind to simple daily tasks. Take care. -Shawna🍁
Thanks Shawna! Definitely not ideal with Danes back but he's coping ok! So happy to hear NZ keeps moving up on your travel list :)
Hey, this a really good watch! Subscibed! yeah boi. !!
Legend!
Love that you guys had a coffee break after 30 mins, we would be exactly the same 😂
Haha love it! It's going to take us a looooooong time to get to the bottom of the south island at this pace though 😂
6:50 mark 😂😂😂😂 SAME, Mr. Dane lol! I fell abt 5 years ago & fractured my spine (L1-3). The "good fracture", meaning it didn't require surgery or rods. I lived with the residual pain every day for years bc I was just so thankful it wasn't permanently damaging.
However, since Idk how yours will progress, I'll just say confidently that in your recovery process: DO DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE. Get them to really work the scar tissue. It will be life-changing!
My left side was always tight & I had limited ROM of my hip, but after doing deep tissue/scar tissue work, it's freed up the area entirely. It feels like I have a brand new hip/back.
Wish you the best in your recovery & I hope my experience gives you some hope as well 🤙🏽
Sorry to hear about your fracture! Glad it wasn't the permanently damaging kind, back injuries are scary things! Thanks for the tip, will definitely look into this!
Iam new subscriber Arabic lady citizen iam very happy to watch your channel you as guide tourist and encourage us to read information about places you visited such magnificent landscapes and beauty of nature best wishes good luck to you iwish for your channel more progress and success
Welcome! We're happy you found us :)
I would like to do the cathedral cove walk & the sea cave adventure some day
Hey Dane, It's Al from Loni & Al I have the same injury, from 22 years old, I've made it to 75. Be cautious, be careful and listen to your Physicians. We love your videos !!! BTW we did the same trip in NZ that you are doing, albeit in a Honda Accord, Bed & Breakfasts, Motels, and Hotels way back in 1999.....
Oh hey Al! Sorry to hear you've had the same injury. Great advice though, thank you. Bet things looked a little different in '99!
@@DanegerAndStacey Things did look a little different, if you want to see for yourselves we built a youtube channel for our family and friends which is open to the public. There is a NZ playlist for our videos czcams.com/channels/ocr-JbcF3rH_4IkjQsa81g.html?view_as=subscriber
Keep in mind that in '99 Sony introduced digital video. We had the latest back then and it's only 480p
Sweet! If you mention “van life” you’ll probably get another 25k subs😜. Have fun and stay safe friends✌🏼You guys rock
Haha the 'van life' market is prettttty saturated right now. Thank you!
Daneger and Stacey It is! We trecked out to Oregon, USA for this next week.. everyone has a van😂. Can’t wait for all your upcoming videos. Safe travels
Most diesel heaters used are meant for garage size workspaces so they are quite overkill for campers hence they heat up very quickly.
That might be the case for some, but not in our experience. Given that it was the middle of winter we preferred to plug into a powered site and use a larger fan heater :)
Massive Van Envy hahaha, More amazing locations, Love the idea of a self made hot spring video, I think we should swap countries for a while haha, I am in the Scottish Borders in the UK, If you are ever back in Scotland looking for more amazing places in the future it would be superb to know and i can recommend some of the more no touristy places to visit. Looking forward to keeping up with your next videos and adventures :)
Oh we will definitely be back someday so we'll have to take you up on that offer, thank you!
I can’t wait to go next year😭
Ouch, Back problem. Unfortunately extending your lower back using a lumbar roll is likely to make your back pain worse. I would expect that you're able to touch your toes but swimming breast stroke increases your pain. Good luck and enjoy the trip (or I hope you enjoyed the trip) I'm just watching your '5 Weeks of Vanlife' and love it. We're about to do the same in Australia in May 2021
Might be surprising to hear but the lumbar roll was actually a lifesaver! So happy to hear youre enjoying the vanlife vids! Hope you have an amazing trip in May!
Hey guys, it's beautiful format you chose. Love it pace and visual! How did you do such a nice map?
Great video! Get me to NZ
Thanks Charlie! Just need a couple billion cheeky covid vaccines and you can be on your way 😂
Minu and George love it
Dane and Stacey love you guys!
I also would like to see hot water beach & cape regina
Bilbo:"I am on for a journey!"
3 YEARS into the future, the prices at BP Papakura would be a bit more now, eh ! From a former BP worker (24 years) !! Just discovered your great channel as I was looking for Bluebridge Ferry videos. I'm walking on the Ferry, for a big OVERSEAS EXPERIANCE (lol), with my two older daughters. The older one is 21 on the 17th AUGUST 2022. That's our drive from Huntly Day. Before we go, I'm going to follow along these vids, as you Camper Cruise NZ !!
Haha yup it's still overseas, still counts!! Glad you found us and you've been enjoying -definitely get the room if you have the budget, makes time fly much easier and if there's any delays with coming into port you're set up for the long wait!
@@DanegerAndStacey Appreciate your replies very much. Just a couple of days to go now ! Ironically, have been on the Sapphire Princess's two younger, near identical sister ships, the Emerald and the Ruby, thanks to the wife's Philipino brother, who works for Princess cruises. He gave us good tours of the two floating cities !!
Lord it's awful to be cold. Jeez guys come on. Smart up!
No need to tell us to smart up... we're fully prepared, just explaining the realities if we decide to freedom camp.
Lol you were saying "Check in" I heard 'Chicken' that was funny on my part cuz I will just outright say 'THat sounded like!" Which I"ve caused some laughter and confusion.
😂😂😂 OH NOOO the kiwi accent strikes again! haha
New Zealand summer soon.
CAN'T WAIT!
I wish I could take a break from work and travel around NZ instead. I’ve been missing out a lot of beautiful scenery. 😭
It's only going to get better as summer rolls around ❤️
Great sharing. May I know where the camp is? Thanks.
14:51 such a classic kiwi thing to say
HAHAHA
Hi Guys, your Diesel heater consumption is 0.12 - 0.24 l/h. Hope that helps. Kind regards your THL team
Ooh thanks so much!
Thanks Great videos kiwi in Melbourne how much per day was that campervan thanks
😍😍
🥰🥰🥰
Looking forward to your Hobbit tour!
Hobbiton vlog went up earlier this morning, enjoy!
Hello, Im a newbie to your YT .. in your video, can I ask what is that you hold in the video when you talk about your broken bone? I think of getting that for a friend. It helps to alleviate the pain for long hours sitting?Cannot wait for your vlog in the Vanlife for this Series.I m looking forward for my own NZ trip which I have planned but....:( stay safe!
Not sure of it's official name but we just call it lumbar support :)
Hi Dane and Stacey. Looks like a cool adventure.
What time of year was your trip? Do you know what temperatures are like in December - January?
We did 5 weeks starting in mid July. December and January is summertime so its much warmer but hard to narrow down an average for the whole country. All we can say is bring sunscreen because the sun here is super harsh!
There is a free park down the road with buses that take you up
Thanks for the tip - didn't look like it was running on this day. Neither were any of the water taxis sadly.
New-zealand needs to get their camping shizzle together and provide more parking spots for campers. Just like france has for instance :)
william te whata why not, you just sacrifice some car parking spots so a camper or 5 can park there that’s all
To be fair, this is a small NZ town, the larger cities and tourist attractions are well set up for campervans.
Dan-what did you done to your spine? :'(
Love the kiwi accent "fish and chups" lol
Lol yes it does
We can see how it sounds like fush & chups sometimes 😂 gotta have a laugh about it
Hey guys, what date of the year is this? Is it now or perhaps a couple of months ago?
Thanks
This was super recent, within the last few weeks - we only just got home :)
When did you leave AKL with all the lockdown?
We left before lockdown when everything was normal (our timing was actually perfect thankfully)
