In this video, Berklee Online instructor Prince Charles Alexander and Berklee alumnus Brian Walker continue to produce his song “Call Me,” along with engineer Samantha Stallings. Prince Charles makes some productive suggestions for articulations in the first verse. They do multiple takes to focus on the intention of the lyrics, the crunch and articulation of the syllables, and to illuminate pops on plosive syllable sounds.

Damn, dude is literally making love with that pop filter
Every time they tell him to move away from the mic, he move right back.
Crazy
Lots of plosives !!
I think pocket is such an understated part of singing. I love the way it was brought out from the performance.
What do you mean with pocket?
Bro he’s making out with the microphone lol
Cool to see how this is done. Singing looks hard. Coach is very supportive.
I like them types of videos, they teach you so much about recording good vocals, good work cause I don't see to many videos like that, only every blue moon you might.
FINNALY ......... finally found a step by step video of the vocal recording process !
very instructive indeed ....

Excellent video, really gets to the nuts and bolts of the process. Thanks very much for posting!
this was great! hope to see more of this on your channel soon!
enjoyed watching this kind of production process. Thanks
Incredibly instructive. Thanks!
I find these videos very helpful. Thank you!
He was to close to the mic and the should have been brought up about to inches. He’s got a nice tone but his breathing control needs to be worked on a bit.
Mic placement is key.
Yea way to close and also on the mic position. In my last recording session I stood about 6 inches from the mic.
Thank you for these videos! It's been a big help giving my high school songwriting students a clearer idea of the recording process.
Thanks!
That last take was pretty good.
Very interesting and instructive! Just subscribed to the channel!

Can anybody tell me where I can get more videos like this, where the producer is guiding the singer as he records the song? Please that would be very helpful.

This is exactly what the vocal production course is on Berklee Online. Takes every part of this process and goes into depth on it with more sessions exactly like this. Prince Charles is actually one of the course co-authors!
