I totally agree with this, Dennis, I just bought a 2016 YTA22V46 and love it. My land is rough wooded 2 acres and slightly hilly here in Palestine Texas I have used it one day after buying it and it make my old Bolens look like well you know. Only paid 1699.00 at Lowes they delivered it free. I like the fact you can pop the foot pads out when washing the mower down. And like you said small trees no problem plus old dead branches laying around tears them up. Love this mower. Figured out some easy add ons after watching your video. I use a car mount cell phone holder with bluetooth headset for music or to listen for phone calls. Plan on a front bumper from Husqvarna already got a better hitch for the back hole n the frame to tow my box trailer for picking up dead trees or hauling concrete for fence work. Hook a chain to the hitch and haul downed trees to the burn pile. Need to bet the mulching bagger to handle the tons of leaves in the fall.

Thanks Dennis I just ordered this mower, had a 2012 Husqvarna w/42 inch deck and is very similar. I like the gas tank being where my current battery is. Easier to get to if needed. Also agree on the oil change and oil getting on the frame, I was hoping Husqvarna would have fixed that by now.

Have had the same mower for the start of the third year now. First year I broke both spindles, wrecked the front brush guard and the two pieces of sheet metal under the deck on flowering hedge stubs. (Not a complaint, new 1 acre lot that hadn't been cleaned up in a couple of years and badly overgrown.) Unless you are going to water fill the tires for more traction the "Green Goop" tire sealant works good and beats having to air up the tires every time you use the machine. The tires have held pressure over the winter since I added it when they wouldn't go 2 weeks before.

I filled my rear tires with antifreeze and that helped with the traction alot, then I put non-flat tires on the front. I love them. Thanks for sharing!!

Be sure to do things like check the oil, burp the transmission, check the air pressure in the tires, make sure all the joints are greased before cutting. Sometimes the factory or the retail setup folks don't do everything they should.

+Dennis Coffey By the way - I checked the oil (even though it was new/can't be too sure) and then replaced the dipstick. Proceeded to mow for an hour, then went to the driveway to hose it down. Boy was I SURPRISED to see that the inside of the cowling had a nice sheen to it ...when I put the dipstick in I got a "click", but it actually needed to be twisted beyond what I registered as closed, and so on my first mow, I sprayed engine oil all over the inside of the hood and the engine. Lesson learned. : /
+Andrew Grosman I'm glad you caught that before cutting again. I don't know if enough oil could escape through the filler tube to cause a low-oil situation in the engine, but I'm sure neither of us want to find that out the hard way! I've also noticed that the way the dipstick cap is made, it is important to wipe it off under the outer lip before re-inserting it in the filler tube. Lots of dust and crud can build up under that lip and end up dropping down the filler tube if not careful.
Thanks for the tip.....everybody needs to be sure to press the dipstick in fully and then turn clockwise to lock!

The paperwork that came with mine doesn't tell you anything . Called the company and they said print it up from the internet ! Spent over 2 grand on this and they don't supply any information ! This video sure helps!

Hi Dennis. Enjoyed your video and evaluation of this tractor. I am planning on getting a New one and am leaning toward this very Model. The 22 hp 46" cut. I have a suggestion when changing the oil in this model and models like it that have that partition on either side of the oil filter and drain plug. One can reduce or eliminate the mess of the oil draining out on the frame. As you drive the tractor to where you are going to change the oil, drive the oil filter side up onto a bit of an elevated position. The tractor will then be leaning to the oil drain side and when you take the oil filter off, it won't be draining out of the filter side when you remove the filter. Just placing a rag underneath the filter will take care of any oil coming from the filter. Hope that helps you. When I get mine, I"m going to do that. Happy mowing.

Well Dennis Good morning My Friend it arrived yesterday afternoon so I gased er up and jumped on....The job that usually takes me all afternoon on Saturday took me exactly 1hr from the minute I turned on the blades ( which by the way was insanely impressive) to the minute I pulled in garage and turned the key ...WHAT A MACHINE!!! ..Oh and Dennis I think someone over at Husqvarna watched your video cause they include a clear piece of tubing with the user manual...And before I started reading I was wondering what it was for and then I saw the pic ...ITS TO HELP WITH THE OIL CHANGE!!!...So as I was standing at the work bench reading... my wife was bringing groceries in from car and after I saw what the clear tube was for I laughed and said ALL RIGHT DENNIS!!!!....And my wife looked over and said ...WHOS DENNIS ????...LMAO!!!!... Anyway

Hey Dennis, I just got one of these on Friday, two days ago, and I absolutely love it. I only have a half an acre to mow, so the model I got is the 18.5 hp 38” which is plenty big for what I need it for. My dad talked me into a Husqvarna because he has one too, 42” deck, and raves about it. For those out there who may be on the fence about buying a Husqvarna, I’d tell them to pull the trigger on one because y’all will never regret it. They are great lawn tractors!

Thanks for the review, pretty thorough on all the options and operation. I really liked that you covered the oil change, the drain on the filter is a bit of a concern for me. I'm looking to buy a rider, looking at this one, Cub Cadet XT1 one of the newer Craftsman or possibly a John Deere. Oil changes might be the same situation on all but the Deere .. they have some quick change thing .. havent looked at the specifics

Great vid ... I've got a Husky LTH 19530 ..19.5 hp ..Had it since about 2011,, Re the oil drain .. Mine is amazing . That model came with the oil drain pipe that has a yellow screw off cap that is so easy it's ridiculous to drain the oil ...love mine .. love Husky stuff in general

G'day Dennis ..Yep , so right ..Everything is easy with them . Even the deck removal is straight forward . Five pins only , less than 10 minutes . Hydrostatic bulletproof . Comfy seat and steering wheel . My only gripe is you can crack your knuckles when disengaging the cutter . I can anyway , Mine is only the entry level 19.5 hp single cylinder Briggs and Stratton ..but goes hard . All my mowers except one have Briggs motors and when i was greenkeeping a golf course we used I/C Briggs and Strattons on the greens mowers ..never gave one ounce of trouble ..Your videos are fun to watch . The LTH 19530 is 38 " cut with one big blade . Re the drain ..Mine came as standard with the attached drain hose with the special cap on it . It clips up out of the way to the top cowling when not needed ..I wonder why Husqvarna discontinued that feature ..Maybe it was just fitted to Australian spec ones ..I'm in Tasmania , Australia .
My YTH22V46 was bought around 4 years ago. Ran great with regular maintenance every season or 40 hours up to about 90 hours then stuff started failing left and right. 90 hours starter solenoid. 95 hours deck tensioner pulley. 105 hours hard starting, had to do valve adjustment. 130 hours drive belt idler pulley, tensioner pulley, belt. 135 hours float bowl solenoid (flooded while sitting), had to change oil, replace plugs, replaced float bowl gasket and needle, etc, also the vac line from the valve cover to pump was split. 145 hours starting began to be as issue again, adjusted valves again and started great, however one of the exhaust valve measurements was much worse off than the other, rod looks fine, so likely a rounded camshaft soon, too. Just today a coil had failed, 157 hours, and may as well get a new gas cap too since it seems to not be venting anymore. A bit much considering the age and always being cleaned / maintained.
Wow....that's way too much trouble out of anything. I agree with you...way too much. I've had some issues with mine, mostly due to abuse honestly, but if I had the trouble you've had, I'd sell it. Don't have enough time to spend it all on fixing a relatively new mower. Hopefully your troubles are over with it. Thank you for watching, James!
these are very nice lawn tractors! I got the 48" deck and 24 hp version.
I bet that bigger deck is nice! I don't mind the 46" deck at all, but that little bit extra on the 48" would be nice when cutting big areas especially!
Dennis, I have had the YTH22V46 since the spring of 2010. It has always performed great.
How ever,it has developed a problem that I can't correct. Perhaps you may have a solution or suggestion. I can't get both sides cutting at the same height. Left is lower after max. adjustment. Can the right side be adjusted?
Re: oil drain design---using 1/4 ' pipe fittings, drain oil-remove oil drain valve from motor-use threaded nipples and elbows to extend drain tube around plastic shroud - install 1/4" ball valve on end. be sure that it extends past frame about 1". Be sure to use pipe thread tape on all joints. Works great for me.
Hi Jim, thank you very much for watching! Unfortunately, there is not a height adjustment on the right side, only on the left. Thanks for your thoughts on the oil drain...that's exactly what I'm thinking of doing....1/4" pipe fittings and a ball valve. That would make it so much easier.

I see the briggs eng. was built in U.S.A. I have a J. Deere and I believe that briggs eng. was made in china, any way, with about 50 hrs. started to use oil. Just out of warranty. It had a bad valve guide. Repair was over $200.00. Ouch. they replaced the head. Now with just under 400 hrs. the compression release went south. They want $300.00 to repair, have to replace camshaft. Just bought a Husqvarna 54in. Kawasaki eng. I like it a lot. Tough machine.I have my fingers crossed, but everyone i know has good luck with Husqvarna!

I just got the exact same mower today, love it so far, it replaced a 10 year old craftsman lt1000, i heard this has a 12 volt accessory outlet on it but i am unable to find it ??
Mine does not have a 12V accy outlet.
Got mine last year l've got 40 hours on it changed oil an filter an air filter this spring now the tractor will not cold start without a very short shot of starting fluid an the seat which is vinyl is starting to crack ! But has great features a mows like crazy !! I've had tonight end outside right bogey deck roller 3 times
i would suggest taking a look at your choke door in your carburetor. it sounds like it’s not closing all the way so it isn’t choking and needs starting fluid.

So far at 247 hours and 4 years, replaced a blown motor governor finding that no sump gasket was ever installed on the motor, and changed the pully shaft seal with the new sump gasket. Removed the transmission to change the oil, adding the 2 drain plugs that were cast into the bottom from the inside so it's easier to change later. Replaced both belts, replaced the deck spindles and blades, removing the open bearings to better sealed bearings. upgraded to sealed front wheel bearings after seeing the plain sleeves were machined on a taper with one end .060" oversized. Replaced the 2 ply bald tires to 4 ply tires. Tightened up the oil drain valve by a full turn. Added a fuel shutoff valve, changed sparkplugs, gas filter, and oil filter. Added a pigtail to the battery for a charger/maintainer that also powers a 15 gallon sprayer. installed a 1.875" trailer ball plus a 2 " ball onto the 4 shoulder bolt locations in the rear panel using a heavy aluminum rectangular tube. Drilled holes to move the seat bracket back another inch. Drilled drain holes in the footwells to drain water after hosing off the machine. My Husky is the same model as yours, but as you see by what I have done, there is so much room for better factory inspection with these machines with missing gaskets, bad machining on the wheel sleeves, and the spindles that wear out so quickly. I have had to also install a seat cover because the stock seat material has ripped after only 3 years. I have found that I can blow off the deck better with a compressor and air gun instead of a water hose. Also installed the mulcher plate to the deck and use a yard sweeper in the fall to collect the chopped up leaves on about an acre of flat yard. Now that you have 8 years on your Husky, how does it now match up? Other than the Tuff Torque hydro drive, the rest of the husky tractor is inferior to my old 15 year old Yard Machine tractor because of cheap parts and bad assembly. I can only say it's better than my son's Craftsman in it's design.

Hey, nice mower. I have basically the same model except mine is a Poulan Pro which is also made by Husqvarna. The main differences I suppose are that mine has a 20hp single cylinder B&S Intek engine and mine doesn't have those plastic cowls that yours has blocking your oil drain and oil filter. Mine is a 2010 model I bought new and it still runs great. Only thing I have done to it besides regular maintenance is last weekend I put new mandrel/spindles on the mowing deck as the bearing in the old ones were shot and bent a bit. The old ones had solid spindles and the new ones have grease zerks which I like. Mine also has the welded front axle with grease zerks like yours. Funny thing is I just realized after 8 years that if I put the parking break on while running I can get of the mower and it will keep running. That will come in real handy as I often have to pick up limbs & stuff as I'm mowing to get them out of the way.
I recently replaced my deck spindles too, and I also got the spindles with grease fittings. I've had a couple of people ask me how to keep it running when getting out of the seat :) Glad you figured that one out...I like being able to do that. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it!!

You mentioned that the tires can slip on steep grades. I've got a hill on my property with about a 30-40 degree grade on it. How much slippage are you getting on those rear tires? I'm a tall guy myself with and I'm not sure if I'll need the added weight kit or not (I come with my own).
Jon Maksin HI Jon, thanks for watching and for the question. It's not too bad, really only when its a little damp or on loose ground. The hill on my property that gives me the most trouble is about a 40 degree grade with some loose rock. I've got a hose attachment to put water and antifreeze in the back tires. I plan to do that this weekend and I believe that will take care of it altogether.
Just bought my 2nd yth22v46. First 1 bought in 2015, put on 700 hours, never no problems except for weak starter, put on new starter and sold for $500 and bought new 1, $2400

I bought my YTH22V46 10 years ago from Lowe's and the ONLY issue is rust at the foot area because no drain under the plastic foot rest piece so water sits there. Rust took care of that issue, lol. I still have it and if you maintain something its gonna last.

I have over 700 hours on mine! The only issue - gotta adjust the clutch/brake - it tends to stick and you gotta put your foot under the pedal and lift it up some to get the brake off all the way - sticky. White lithium grease and keeping her clean by spraying it down after mowing - only takes a few minutes. I have the 17hp Kawasaki and 48" deck. My tank us under the seat as well. otherwise it's about the same . Great machine! even the briggs sounds like a beast and lots of torque. I got mine used from a farm and one of the spindles on the deck was busted - but 50 bucks for it and 2 other ride on mowers that haven't ran for a while - I was shocked at the sticker price of these Husqvarna's new!

Thanks so much for this excellent review. We will be looking at a v48 in the spring but needed to see everything you showed. Just bought and returned a D160 JD to Blue Box store as it had all kinds of problems dealing with our 5 acres so your review is helping us consider going to local dealer to get the Husqvarna. Did you buy yours at a big box or dealer. Seems there is a big difference. Old JD 135 lasted over 500 hours but now needs weld in the deck. Seems we have a similar terrain. Thanks for any advice. Hubby really hopes they did something with the oil change situation. Does seem a bit silly.
+Suzanne Ramoundos HI Suzanne! Thanks for the comments. So far so good with my Husky. I've put about 80 hours on it and no issues. I did purchase mine at a big box store. I understand the Husqvarna makes 'garden' models as well as these 'yard' models. While they're a bit more expensive, I suspect they are built a bit tougher too. If I ever have to buy another one, I'll give them a good look and consideration. That may be more of what's available at a dealer. I agree with your husband about the oil change issue....it's crazy the way they set it up and it could definitely be improved. Thanks again! When changing an oil filter, I like to put a flexible cutting board, which is just a thick sheet of plastic below the filter. I can curl the plastic to create a chute to direct the oil to my catch bin. It would of course be best to not use this as a cutting board after it has served as an oil chute.

+Dylan Chalmers Yes I do. It will cut just fine on 4, doesn't bog down or anything, it just makes for a lot of clumps unless the grass is bone dry. So, if its tall or extra thick, I'll usually cut on 5 and then go back over it at 4. I'm pretty rough on my tractor, so if I'm in the woods cutting scrub, I might even put it up on 6 to avoid hitting a low stump with the front of the deck.
I have the same mower ... (almost) mine is the YTH2246 (no V) but it has 22 HP B&S V-twin & 46" deck. It is 10 or 11 years old, think I bought in '07. I've had no major problems with it to this point. The spring on the end of blade clutch cable broke 2 or 3 years ago so had to replace that, and been thru a couple of batteries. This year (2018) I'm going to replace both belts, I think the drive belt is going south, so as long as it's apart I'll just replace them both. (both are still the original belts.) Other than that, just routine maintenance. - I agree with you, changing oil & filter are messy. There must be a better way. Mine didn't come with the oil drain tube, I went to Lowes & bought a tube for that though. - Overall, a good mower, I like it. :)
Thanks for the feedback and for watching. Several people have suggested taking a pie tin, aluminum foil, paper plate, etc and using it to catch the draining oil and route it to your container. Sounds like a good idea and much easier/less messy than the tube :) I think I'll try it on the next oil change.
I have a question... When I'm going forward and turn left the front left tire hits the deck. Bad enough that it has broke a weld on the deck. Any ideas?
Thanks for watching, Adam. I'd expect the tire is hitting the deck because of the broken weld. If the tire was hitting before the weld broke, I'd suspect the deck wasn't installed properly.
Every notice how words show up miss spelled when making comments? I have had to tighten the right outside deck bogey 3 times in 40 hours deck wasn't leveled form the dealership an scalped the first few mowings until I corrected the problem ! Do not get me wrong this is a good mower an I. Would by another one if this one would wear out! Good video!!!!!

Thanks for watching, Neil! My mower has manual PTO lever, so I ease the blades in and out so as to prevent throwing the deck belt. Other than that, I've had problem with mine.
When you start it up do you need to release the e brake like a car or when you start it up you can immediately start cutting and drive it

Hi Dennis, Lowe's in my area is so unfamiliar with this model lawn mower. I keep getting the incorrect oil filter. Which one am I suppose to get? Also, no one knows where the spark plugs are? Not visible as with the newer models?
Kathy Hall-zientek Hi Kathy, thanks for your comments! The Briggs and Stratton part number for my tractor (22hp) is 492932S. There is one spark plug on each side of the engine. Look for the spark plug wires (black) and pull back the boot (make sure the engine isn't hot!). You'll find a plug under each boot. Good luck!
I love this thing, But am having an issue where it will slam to a stop when the deck hits tree roots. Never had an issue with my cub cadet. I love it otherwise so was wondering if you ever ran into a similar issue, and what did you do about it? It will happen even if the deck is raised up and not running.
Thanks for watching, Kayleigh! On the front of the deck, there should be a rod that supports it, you may need to tighten up the nuts on the front end of that rod. That will raise the front of the deck a bit.
you mentioned your tires slipping, does your model have a locking differential? I'm about to buy one and don't want to waste the money on any upgraded model is the tires are going to spin either way lol. thanks for your help
+Steven Smith Hi Steven, no it does not have a locking differential. I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think the Husqvarna Garden Tractors (GTH) have a locking rear end, but I don't think any of the Yard Tractors (YTH) do.

Thanks for the video. We are looking at one from Lowes . About $1700.00 for a 2019. 46"deck. Do my Home work/Research B4 buying . We also have about a 30 to 40 degree hill that runs the width of are yard. Trying to see if it can handle mowing at that kind of angle and be safe . Run the width way not up and down the hill.

I can cut up and down the slope with no problem. To cut across the slope, I have to hang about half my butt off the seat on the high side...I'm 6ft 215lbs.
Hi Dennis. How do I get the deck raised on my Husqvarna YTH22V46. The highest setting still cuts my grass to short.
Hi Patricia, thanks for watching! There are a couple of things you can do. First, there is a rod that goes from the front of the deck to a bracket under the front end of the mower. This rod has 2 nuts on it. Loosen the outer nut (its a locknut to keep the other one from turning under vibration). Then tighten the 2nd nut. This will raise the front of the deck. Then tighten the lock nut against this nut. You want to front edge of the deck to be slightly lower than the back edge (about 1/2") when finished. Second, you should try moving the anti-scalp wheels (the wheels on the outside front edges of the deck) down a hole or two. There are multiple holes for placing these wheels and they will prevent the deck from cutting so low. You can go onto Husqvarna's website and download the Operating Manual for your particular lawn tractor. That manual will have both of these processes in it (and may have some helpful illustrations). I hope this helps!

+Dylan Chalmers When I wash mine off with the hose, it usually doesn't get wet on top of the engine, so I'd say normally, no, water won't get under the hood. But.....it also doesn't really look like it is made to be water-tight. The hood doesn't latch tight against weatherstripping or anything like that, so if it were left out in a heavy rain, or I was to spray the hood with a pressure washer, etc....I think it would let water get to the engine. I hope that answers your question (?)

I just bought a husqvarna riding lawn mower. Mine is LGT2654. It’s an awesome tractor. It is the best one I’ve ever owned. Any advice on things to keep up with? It’s a 2010 model with 500 hours on it, but it’s very clean. Garage kept. It has had regular maintenance. Overall to be 10 years old I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the money. I am so impressed with a 10 yr old husq i would love a new model.

So I'm having a issue with fuel I actually don't think it's that but my old man say the pressure is low .. I'm leading towards basic things because of being left in shed no maintenance . Most of all safety switch underset haves my gut on it set is. A little worn but he wanting me too buy hole fuel line . Pump , filter ext.. any suggestions on fuel pressure trouble shoots
Hey Fernando, thanks for watching. If the tractor has set up for a long time without running, the gas in the tank may just be old. You may need to drain the tank, put new gas in it. Maybe run a can of Seafoam thru it to clean it up. It may also be a good idea to replace the fuel filter, it may be clogged.
My dad loves this mower but we are having issues attaching a front plow. Is the mower a double suspension or single suspension? Haven't been able to find anything
Hey Dan, thanks for watching. The front axle has a single suspension point in the center.
I have the same unit with over 400 hours on it and I'll give you my two cents.
Bought new from Lowes. The engine, if maintained properly just won't quit! Starts easy but it's louder than I would like. The exhaust exits forward of the front axle.
Now for the drawbacks and tips.
Changing the oil is a messy business! Remove the drain plug and oil paints your frame and deck!
Install a 1/4 turn ball valve on a short nipple in the drain hole. Add a barb hose fitting on the end and your golden.
When it's time to change the oil, put a hose on the barb fitting and the other end in the catch pan. Turn the valve and watch the dirty oil fill the pan without spilling a drop!
The transmission release wire in the back is TOO THIN! It often folds when attempting to re-engage the drive!
My trans was sticking in forward and would not reverse! Had to tear it all down, clean the grunge from the sheaves and lube the sheave ramps with EP lithium grease. Now, the engagement is smooth and it transmits power well.
Blade R/R for sharpening is a pain but I got a solution! Unplug the headlights (who mows in the dark?) and remove the hood.
I put a chain from one frame rail over the forks of my tractor and hook to the other frame rail. Raise the forks and I get plenty of room to work under it without damage to the body or worrying about bending the parts sitting on the jack stands.
When leveling your deck, measure from the reference surface (flat asphalt or concrete) to the cutting edge of the blade both front to back and side to side.
This will reduce scalping in turns and provide a smoother cut.
Without power steering, this thing will wear you out! Put Torington needle bearing washers between the steering knuckle and the axle; makes turning it at slow speeds easier.

mine has the briggs endurance motor, but o heard some come with a kawasaki motor....the holes in the back behind the seat are for a canopy! to keep the sun off the face etc.
Thanks for sharing that. I didn't know some of these came with a Kawasaki engine. I did know about the holes for a canopy. I've seen the canopies for sale through Husqvarna but also aftermarket (cheaper) available through places like Amazon. I imagine the canopy would be nice if you don't like the sun or if you are in a place that is particularly hot etc.

I have the same model bought in 2016 at Lowe’s. Nothing but problems have had almost everything replaced. Now I started forward and set parking brake to get off when I came back released brake and won’t move forward or reverse don’t know what to do too much money already stuck in. What can I do?
HI Darlene, thanks for watching. I'd start by checking the drive belt...sounds like it might have broken or come off. You can check it without removing the deck, but to change it, the deck will have to be removed. Dennis have the same and am pleased with it's overall use only thing I have as a problem with is at the highest cut setting is still a bit low, do you know if it has any additional height adjustment?
HI Tony, thanks for watching and commenting. Off hand, I don't think there is any additional adjustment to increase the cutting height _range_, because the mechanical linkage travel limits are determined by the indicator plate on the left fender (where the cutting height adjustment handle goes through the fender). There is an adjustment used to level the deck, but it will only raise/lower one side of the deck. I'll take another look at mine tonight when I get home and double check.
HxC_Fragman Hype, I've the exact model with your exact problem. Level 6 just scalps the grass. I dropped it off at Husqvarna service this afternoon. I hope the problem can be solved.

I have the same mower, YTH2246. Mine does not scalp, I always mow with the height setting on *4*. However when it came new the "anti-scalp" wheels were set up at the highest position. I did have to move them down 1 or 2 holes. That did prevent any scalping on any small humps or low places, etc. There are no other height adjustments that I'm aware of.
Hi Dennis, great video and nice mower. I have a 2014 Husqvarna YTA19K42 that I never used. Put an extra set of anti scalp wheels on the rear and a bumper from the dealer. Also a high back seat. Whats your thoughts on the manual blade engagement versus the electric PTO?
Anthony Macneil Hi Anthony, thanks for watching and for your comment. I haven't had a Husky with the electric PTO, but I suspect it would be a nice feature. I don't have an issue with the manual PTO lever on my mower, but my wife is pretty small and sometimes she does. How do you like having the bumper on your mower? I use mine to cut a lot of brush and undergrowth in the back of our property and I've thought about putting a bumper on it to help push over that undergrowth before I run over it. I'm also liking your idea of putting an extra set of anti-scalping wheels on the deck......nice touch!
I have a Husqvarna now 3 year and found all the design defects.
The tyres are cheap and don't hold air had to tube them.
The alloy housing supporting the shafts break, Hus cannot keep up to demand waiting 4 weeks for replacement one. Silencer will crack and need welding.
The deck is design to collect damp grass below and down in round the pulleys to rot the deck. The powder coating is totally useless!
Mine has electric PTO and I have been told at three years expect it to die any time!
The front wheels don't have bearings, they just rub on the steel rod with a bit of grease but the tractor won't last long enough to wear the axle out.
The exhaust cracking melts the lighting loom.
Holy Crap!! I hope all that won't happen. I know several ppl that have them and are 7 yr old and mow 10 to 12 acres ever week and had nothing go wrong with them. I guess there are lemons among everything just hope mine isn't one of them. 😊
i wanted to add something..... there is NO CHOKE on these, it is a ready start engine, i have the 22hp briggs endurance series motor, its fast, this tractor has quite the throttle response ...also, i love the forward / reverse pedals, i thought i would not like it at first, since my old craftsman Lt100 had a single lever for forward / reverse / N etc but i took to it like a duck to water and actually prefer it over the old craftsman....

Mine also has a "pull cable" choke, on the dashboard. Mine has the Briggs 22HP Intek V-twin engine. Different stores sell different versions of mowers. A mower from a BigBox store is not the same as one purchased at a dealership. Serial Numbers will show the difference, they also make them with B&S and/or Kawasaki engines in them depending on where you buy them.
If you don't have a separate choke, you should feel a small stop just before the throttle lever reaches it's full throw. When you pass that stop, you are engaging the choke.
this might be a stupid question but do you need to do anything to it when you first buy it? like put oil in it, blades, stuff like that?
Hi Jesse. Not a stupid question at all. I did not have to to anything to mine other than burp the hydrostatic transmission. The manual details the process. However, as with any new equipment, I recommend checking the grease in the wheels and kingpins. Checking to be sure that the blades are secure, check the belt, air in the tires, air filter, engine oil. All these checks will only take a few minutes and could save you a big headache if somebody at the factory overlooked something. Thanks for watching!

I have seen several of your videos but haven't been able to locate this information. Prior to changing oil noticed oil on the frame around under the filter, thought maybe because filter was easy to remove it was

Are these tires puncture resistant? I have a craftsman t 110, and I live in Arizona with plenty of thorny mesquite trees and their branches laying around. I had my tire puncture with just that thorn. I am so thinking of getting this as a second riding mower. I have a 1.3 acre property.

I have the exact same tractor as you and love it. I have just about 2acres I cut and have a pretty flat piece of property. I've been thinking about using it somewhat as a bush hog as you do but just haven't yet hahaha.
Have you ever had a problem engaging the blades though? I only have about 50 or so hours and I hopped on it over the weekend to find that they won't engage
Hey Michael. I've had to pay for the abuse I've dished out to this tractor, but it's taken it pretty well :) About the blades engaging, sounds like maybe the belt has slipped of the drive pulley under the engine. I've only had to replace my deck belt once, but before I replaced it, it had gotten a bit stretched.....so if I disengaged the blades too quickly, it would cause the belt to drop off the drive pulley so that next time I engaged, nothing. Until I replaced the belt, I would just ease the blades to 'disengage' and problem solved. If it isn't that, check to see if you have spring tension on the engage lever. If not, perhaps the cable to the deck has come undone. Let me know if you need more help, I'll do my best to help you.

Hello again, just revisiting this video going through the comments to see if anyone has found a solution to get a higher cut. I’m thinking about getting slightly taller tires in the rear , and adjust the deck height in the front. Have you heard of any fixes for getting an extra inch of cut height ? I’d appreciate your feedback if so. Great content as always.
Hey Rick, thanks for watching! I have not....a couple of us have even tried to re-engineer the lifting mechanism for more height, but that is a bit problematic. I set the front of the deck to nearly level, that helps a bit. Taller tires is probably the easiest, most direct solution.
There’s a metal rod in the front of the deck with a bolt that you can adjust the height of the deck. Then there are two rods on the back of the mower underneath the height adjustment lever plastic on top. Also have bolts that go up and down to make the deck higher.

Considering buying one of these here from a private sale. 2013 model for with 160hrs. He's doing oil change and new battery right now. Wanted $800, we settled for $700 and him delivering it. You think it's a good buy?
Hard to say for sure without looking at it sir, but as long as it's in good shape and been taken care of, should be quite the bargain. With the blade belt disengaged, check spindles for lateral play, check air filter, check oil, maybe shoot some grease in the king pins and the front wheels.....not much else to do to it. I hope its a winner! Congrats on the purchase and the good deal!
700 hours on mine - got er for 50 bucks with a broken spindle - put 100 bucks into it so 150 all together - it feels BRAND NEW --- I had to clean it, grease it - didn't even have to take the carb off since it was ran and the old owner pulled trees around and rocks in a wagon in the fields - farmers i got it from really put er through her paces - still a champ!!!!!!!! THEY WILL RUN FOREVER!!!!!!!
I agree with Dennis - check the spindles and make sure you grease EVERYTHING you can! And waterproof white lithium marine grade spray grease is your best friend as well!!!

Concerning SIMILARITIES some of you with discerning eyes have noticed. I worked at once was the Snapper Manufacturing plant in McDonough Ga. Our company was bought out by Simplicity Mower Mfg., then a few years latter Briggs&Stratton bought us. During that time under the same roof we built Husqvarna, John Deere, Troy Bilt etc. products, many times on ONE assembly line we would build tractors, ZTRs etc. of 3 different NAME brands and colors. I remember we built a number of these Husqvarna tractors & ZTRs, in MANY MANY cases there would be VERY little differences between the different brands, different hood, foot rests, seats etc.

Too bad I don't have actual product numbers I could give it to you and if you could not get a part under your brand name you possibly could under the other, many cases for instance safety switches, electric clutches if they had them were the same across brands, for instance most of the wiring harnesses even though not the same from one brand to another was mfg by same wiring company, solenoid switches on most cases were the same, we would not move off line the cases of these switches and continue to use out of same pallets. We produced 3 or 4 low cost ZTRs, major visuals changes were footrests, seats, one brand had front shocks even though they were basically non functional, the major frame almost identical, some were identical in some cases.
BTW these solenoid switches are really not weather proof, many folks hose off their units and wet down the solenoid, then wonder why they won't crank. I replace mine with 1965 period Ford solenoid, MUCH better quality and they are waterproof.

Hello Dennis. Just picked up a yth22v46 from lowes and the thing didn't come fully functional. It wouldnt cold start for me due to the throttle cable bracket being too tight. I loosened it up and now the throttle isnt smooth. Did you purchase yours from big box store or a dealer? Thanks in advance and happy spring!
Hi Travis, I did.....I bought mine from Lowe's also. The only thing I had to do was go through the 'start up' stuff in the manual....burping the transmission, checked the oil, checked for grease in the front end, etc. I might be wrong, but I think if you call Lowe's, they will send somebody out to you in order to get it right. I'd definitely start there and try to push them to do it. You shouldn't have to deal with a brand new mower not working correctly and you definitely should not be burdened with the task of taking it to them.
I appreciate the input and I will take your advice in getting someone out here to repair this mower. Thing is sweet just needs a little TLC I bet.
So I told them to bring me a new one and pick up the other one. In the mean time i figured out the problem and fixed it myself, took it on a test run and found out that a 4' pricker bush was no problem for the beast. Getting new one in tomorrow and I'm going to try to do a thorough run through on it before starting it. I am no mechanic but I'll give it a shot.
Hello Dennis. So I got a swapped out mower, the new one I got in had rust and surface corrosion on the darn flywheel. Can't do nothing but laugh and get em back out here with another lol. My question is that do you find your deck sways? All the mowers so far have had deck sway and bang around when going over uneven terrain.
Can you adjust the toe? I got my mower in today and I cant find a way to adjust the toe, Its got toe in. Not sure if thats normal or not
Hi Dusty, thanks for watching. I think a little toe-in is normal on the front tires. I do not see a way to adjust the toe-in/toe-out without bending something. The tie rods on mine do not have a length adjustment.
You want a 1/4” to 3/8” toe in so it will track straight but not wear tires or have memory steer issues.
The factory stuff is not adjustable but aftermarket replacements are available that are adjustable.
I change the outer tie rods to heim joints and now have a small amount of toe adjustability.
If yours is out of spec something is bent (spindle) or a combination of things are worn out allowing excess movement. (Linkage, wheel bushings)👊
Great video Dennis. I'm wondering, do you have any experience with removing the mower deck? I'm getting hung up on the part where I need to push the housing guide out of the bracket. It almost appears as though I have a different setup than what the manual is showing.
Thomas Jones Hi Thomas, thanks for watching and for commenting! I've had my deck off once. As I recall, the housing guide was a bit sticky to push out of the housing, but nothing too difficult. I'll try to get out back tonight or tomorrow and give mine a closer look to see if I can help.
Thomas Jones Thomas, I looked through my manual and went out back and looked at my mower deck. Please forgive me if I'm oversimplifying, but I don't want to make any assumptions. My manual does not make it clear at all, but in this part of the instructions (where it talks about the housing guide and the bracket), it is referring to disconnecting the clutch cable end from the mower deck. On the deck-end of the clutch cable (the cable that runs from the engage/disengage lever above the steering wheel), the cable-end has a housing guide that is installed into a bracket fastened to the mower deck. You have to remove the spring clip from the cable-end, remove the collar that is behind the spring clip. Then, you can push the end of the cable, including the housing guide, through the deck bracket so that you can slide the cable through the slot in the bracket and get it free of the deck.

Dennis Coffey Hey Dennis, thanks for responding. I got it figured out. You're right, the manual is not very clear about this step. I was getting confused because the instructions say to remove the spring clip so you can slide the housing guide out but my spring clip is missing so I was just assuming that I wasn't looking at the right part of the tractor. Once I figured this out it was smooth sailing. In order to remove that housing guide I really had to pull back on the cable so that it would slide up and release from the bracket. Now I get to put it back together again! Thanks again for your help.

Hey Dennis - I have a yth22v46 - I leave it on a trickle battery tender - when I go to start it it won't turm over or i have to keep trying turning the key - does this sound like a battery issue or a starter issue to you??
Hey David, thanks for watching! Assuming the battery is charged, I'd guess either a key switch issue or a solenoid problem. If you can hear the solenoid engage when you turn the key, then it may be a stuck starter bendix.
@@dwcoffey I had it on charger for about 2 weeks it turned over and I got it to run. Then I shut it off anf tried to retstart it and then it wouldn't turn over.. When I turned the key it was like the motor was seized up or the battery couldnt turn it over
Sounds like the battery isn't holding a charge.
I have the YTA22V46 and the only complaint I can find so far is that it's impossible to get off and leave it running .... I need to get off mine a lot while mowing.. having to shut it off every time is annoying.
+JoGotta I can help! If you disengage the blade, and set the parking brake, the mower will stay running when you get off the seat. To set the parking brake, press the brake pedal all the way down. While holding it down with your left foot, pull up on the red handle to the left, under the steering wheel. Hold it up and release the foot brake. The handle will lock the brake, then you can get off the mower. To release the parking brake, just press down on the brake lever.

My deck for 42 inch deck is rusted and need replacement. Can I change the deck with 46 inch instead?
What model mower do you have?
Have you used it to suck up leaves? Wondering how it does.
Hey Johnny, I really haven't. I mulch all my leaves and don't use a collector bag on my tractor, so I can't really say how well it would work for sucking up leaves or clippings. I'm sorry. Thanks for watching!
