      For your information THIS is the hacker way. I mean; you ALWAYS replace foam with foam. Always the core material should be used to prevent unbalance and better adhesion. I am a surfboard builder since the 80s

    Great vid. No need to check angles of the fin?

    Awesome. I just jacked up a future fin box on a board I’m shaping and I was wondering what exact material did you use to make the putty? 3m bubbles, resin, etc..?

    • @FiberglassSupply

      We have a video on making the putty:
      czcams.com/video/eK1vlG46XAY/video.html
      Basically it is resin, 3m Bubbles, and Cabosil. The resin can be a polyester resin or an epoxy depending on what you need.

    Few questions. Could I just fill the initial damaged fin area with qcell and resin mix? Also if I only have sanding uv solarez resin would that work? I’m assuming you used lam initially then sanding coat after?

    My mixture I filled in the fin box doesn't get hard. It's still sticky after two days and I can't sand it. Can you guess what the problem might be?

    • @FiberglassSupply
      @FiberglassSupply  Před 3 lety

      Either mixed off ratio if using epoxy or did not add enough catalyst if using polyester. I am assuming you used 3m bubbles and cabosil for the mixture like in this video: czcams.com/video/eK1vlG46XAY/video.html

    Ifbthe fin box is not broken, can i reuse it? Thanks!

      You could, but since a new box is relatively inexpensive I would get a new one. The lip around the opening is raised and designed to get ground flat when you sand it, the existing one will not have that and may be a little more difficult to finish the repair than with a new one.

    Cool fusion 360 shirt, do you design boards using CAD?

    • @FiberglassSupply
      @FiberglassSupply  Před 3 lety

      Thanks, I have not designed any surfboards in fusion, I have designed twin tip kiteboards and a foil board in Fusion. The kiteboards I usually design flat and the foil board I did using T-splines.

      A trick : you can watch series at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
