    Reminiscing the old days when I was rocking this beast. Served me a good 3years until it died on me when the battery short the board. Great camera, beautiful screen and ergonomic design. Definitely ahead of its time back in the day

      I had one of these bad boys in high school. I was constantly showing off the screen lol. Used it until, like yours, the battery went pretty bad and the phone would get hot.

  • @Masterincommander
    @Masterincommander Před 10 lety +119

    i laughed my ass off at the end when you see the G3 size vs other phones considering it has a half an inch bigger screen, seriously everyone needs to just learn from LG and make slimmer bezzels

    • @DonnKnee
      @DonnKnee Před 10 lety +6

      You'd have to put the buttons on the back, remove the speakers on the HTC and the Home Button/Water resistance on the S5 to achieve those slim bezels. While the G3 looks Awesome, Slim bezels serve less purpose than BoomSound and water resistance and I for one find the buttons on the back a hassle at times using my friends G2.

    • @user-yl2wm2gy3z
      @user-yl2wm2gy3z Před 10 lety +3

      Sure, it's pretty, but what can you say about durability? The smaller the bezels - the easier it is to crack the screen.

    • @sagonz1
      @sagonz1 Před 10 lety +2

      Емил Ефендулов I have LG G2 which also has small bezels, it is one most durable phones I have ever had

    • @Spyder0275
      @Spyder0275 Před 10 lety +1

      Dante Bradley Display technology is the main reason for the size of a phones bezels, not water resistance and button placement.

    • @brettisamasing
      @brettisamasing Před 10 lety +6

      Spyder0275 actually, the removal of the buttons from the side is what allowed them to do this. They even said that themselves when unveiling the G2. The bezels aren't there because of display technology, they're there because there are components underneath that take up space

    I'm using LG G3 for 2 years now. My experience with this phone had its ups and downs, but I must say it grew on me and it will be a difficult goodbye when the time comes. Despite all of its flaws and outdated hardware, the phone held up extremely well. I can no longer have a phone without removable battery, microsd card, ir blaster, split screen, double tap and even back buttons. I appriciate LG for being one of the last manufactures that kept most of these features. Marshmallow update breathed a new life into this phone, improving its performance. SD801 turned out to be an excellent chip. If you are on a tight budget, get LG G4. It's even a better phone with the same unique features.

    Question: Is this phone considered a phablet, since the G Pro is a phablet. It also has a 5.5" screen.

    • @SteelerFan716
      @SteelerFan716 Před 10 lety +17

      I couldn't say it is based on its actual size. It is similar in size to both the GS5 and the HTC One M8, but has a much larger screen. This is subjective, of course.

    • @RMphilmacrac
      @RMphilmacrac Před 10 lety +1

      i would say any phone with a screen bigger than 5.5in is a phablet but it also depends on the bezels and sense this phone has small bezels its not a phablet for me. The Oppo find 7a is 5.5 but it looks extremely long and idk but that phone looks big to me and i love bigger phones. the G3 looks perfect though. it looks wide instead of tall and "small" for a 5.5in screen phone

    • @slopedarmor
      @slopedarmor Před 10 lety

      it's big enough to be considered a phablet if you ask me, however LG is really presenting this as their flag ship smartphone, and not as a phablet.
      Right now it's the biggest flagship around though, so let's just call it a big phone.

    • @Rasenano
      @Rasenano Před 9 lety +3

      I would say it can last you for the next 3-4 years, since processor power hasn't grown too exponentially as before. Most apps run fine on a 3 year old Nexus 4, so this phone can surely survive the time.

    Owned this phone a few years back! Excellent phone, especially back before the bezelless trend really took hold. At least on my refurbished unit it took forever to charge - especially when being used, got very hot when playing games and sometimes had to dial down the brightness, battery life was short and sometimes could barely make it into the evening, and blacks on the LCD were not that great. Have any other owners had similar experiences?

      ***** is awesome too, his editing and reviews are always very clear, well thought out and well spoken so it's fun to watch and hear his thoughts.
      Erica Griffin is great too, she's very in depth and doesn't hold back saying something isn't as good as could be in her reviews (which are very long by the way sometimes going over an hour )

      @DanielSzilagyi Před 10 lety

    @ogindianspice Před 10 lety

    Thank you Micheal for not obsessing over the display like other reviewers and actually focused on the other great aspects of the phone. The fact that LG can make a Quad HD screen for a smartphone is great but you can't notice a difference unless you zoom in on a screenshot. Plus, there's no Quad HD content available yet so all it does is drain battery and puts more force on the processor while a 1080p screen wouldn't do that as much. And while it is future proof, so is 1080p, and a normal person can't tell the difference between the two. If there's something the OEMs should be focusing on, it should be the high numbers you want to get on battery life, not the high numbers you don't need for screen resolution.

  •  Před 10 lety +7

    If you make a full review. PLEASE get a real review of the headphone output. How it performs. I see people only talk about the speakers these days. And as i have seen. People still use heaphones/earbuds to listen to music when they use the devices!

    • @parikksitbhisay3248
      @parikksitbhisay3248 Před 10 lety

      That's a very good point. I'm one of those users who probably used speakers to play music maybe for a minute in the entire lifetime of the phone. -_-
      People tend to use the 3.5mm output for many purposes like say in the car to play music and as you mentioned, for listening to music while working out.

    •  Před 10 lety

      My point exactly, i know its hard to do review over sound quality since its mutch of prefrance. But its a valid point to state if something sounds lazy or has low volume output. I made a clip today. It stinks, but i feel i got my say in the quality of the music for the LG G3

      Every phone shuts off if it overheats. 1) Update won't fix it, it's simple physics. 2) It won't happen with your regular games, or gaming sessions. 3) 4K videos are kinda pointless, but I doubt it would happen within normal video lenghts.
      I bought a G Pro 2. But if I were to buy a device now, I would pick the G3. LG done the Material/L update fast, and right. The software is absolutely stunning fast, beautiful, and in terms of usability, it's the best I have ever used. (Including Android roms as CM, iOS, TouchWiz, etc.)

      Pocketnow So I take it this feels much more sturdy than the G2? I know that you mentioned that fingerprints aren't an issue, which is great, but is the plastic used here more reminiscent of HTC's plastic builds (think One X or Droid DNA) than the G2? Wasn't a fan of the "creaky" plastic used in the G2, but have no complaints on plastic that feels alright.

    • @Pocketnow
      @Pocketnow  Před 10 lety +7

      Tom Craig I wouldn't put it in the same class as the One X or DNA. This is much lighter, in all senses of the word. Still, there's definitely a sense of quality on the G3 that wasn't there on the G2. ^M

    I really love the almost realistic moving/dripping water drops on the screen at 1:40 and I wonder if that only comes with a certain carrier of the phone? That is the coolest thing I have ever seen. On a very cloudy day, someone might think your phone literally got wet. Maybe there's an app that can do the same effect? This is the most amazing looking smartphone with the best specs. I think the high resolution might be a little overkill though. A 1080P resolution would have probably been good enough and might would drain the battery at a much slower rate. Anyhow, I think the best thing that LG has come up with is the double tap technology to turn on and off the phone by simply double tapping on the screen. I have the LG G2 which I love and it also has the double tapping feature. I just accidently discovered the feature very recently. That is so much easier than having to try finding the power button on the back side of the phone each time. As far as the volume control goes, I'm not sure if there's a way of controlling it from the screen or not (with the screen on of course)? In the future, I hope smartphones keep getting thinner and lighter, but still have a screen size of at least 5 inches, but not over 5.5. The resolution should be no less than 1080P. The bezel on the G2 and G3 is very narrow and I really like that. It would be nice if they can figure out how to make it even a little more narrower. It's plenty good enough now though. Even though I mostly prefer a large screen size, I still want to get a small Android powered smartphone just to travel with. I'm thinking about getting the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact just for airline travel. It's the very best mini smartphone out there and has performance of a flagship model. I want to get the LG G3 for everyday use. Well that's my 2 cents worth. Good day.

HTC one M8 is the best phone in the world from where we are sitting. 4 UP Camera is excellent, you just don't have much "room to zoom", low light performance is gorgeous, and sunlight photos aren't the best, but they will serve you if you aren't a professional photographer, but pros buy real cameras 4 their photos. I don't know about you guys? Why the negative reviews?
    Im quite satisfied with the G3's performance
    I do have the D858 Dual-Sim+LTE 3GB RAM variant
    Probably the 3GB RAM is the difference-maker among all G3's
    Screen is good (not bad?), the screen itself is not the best, but the resolution is future-proof. Battery is not bad, I mean I am comparing it to the likes of Zenfone Selfie, alot of Samsungs and some Moto G's (I recently regretfully sold Moto G3, it has great battery backup), and I would say LG G3 is at the middle of the pack, battery backup-wise. No worries, it is removable.
    Overheating, yes, due to non-stop screen lit time, but it signifies you should get some rest too.
    Camera is excellent. Rear cams on cameraphones are virtually identical, but no one else mentioning here is the strength of its 2MP front cam with great speakers. It interprets light and sound very well in video recordings. Moto's front cam for comparison is too dark in frontcam video recording, Zenfones (Selfie and Zen 2) front camera shots are good, but its video is lackluster and blurry, with inconsistent autofocus. Samsung frontcams are good, although yellowish in color, and the recording audio is mono-like.
    Combined with lovely small-bezel looks, I must say G3 is still a very strong contender in mid-end phone market. Rule of thumb, value-wise, is that former flagships are better than mid-end new releases due to electronic devices' depreciation value. TL;DR - LG G3 is a good buy.

    Why do people and reviewers complain about the multitasking window when they actually know that they can pinch to zoom and change its appearance, I actually find it super nice and convenient as it is. Best I've seen. Also, reviewers say that you will not notice a difference in resolution at all but they are totally wrong. I've had it for a while now and you can actually notice a huge difference!! I've had the Nexus 5, the Galaxy s4 Google Edition and the Galaxy Note 3, all 1080p displays and the G3's doesn't compare. Totally blows them out of the water, hands down, best phone and screen resolution I've seen thus far.

    @SplosionMovies Před 10 lety +1

    If we're being honest, I was a little dissapointed by the G3's flaws, but even the worst aspects of the phone outshine my HTC One X by far. It heats up? My phone gave me a first degree burn because the battery was overheating and I couldn't pull it due to a nonremovable backplate. Poor low-light performance? Looks like a top-of-the-line DSLR compared to the One X's crap lowlight performance. Rear-facing speaker? The one x's speaker was inaudible at best during any kind of ambient noise situation. Overall, I just wanna say that if you're coming from a last-gen phone, this will be great all the way around.

    After more than a month I can say the G3 is great in performance and games but I sold it on Craig's list after seeing how it's screen brightness and contrast paled in comparison to the iPhone 6 Plus, which at this point is besting the Chinese version of the Samsung galaxy note 4 in graphics tests. There was a frustrating time for me adjusting to loading pics, movies and ringtones into the 6 Plus thru iTunes but that's behind me now and I have no regrets. I just needed a bit more display brightness during the day and the 6 Plus does it for me, and it's good to know it's performance is top notch, perhaps even matching or besting the U.S. version of the GN4 when it comes out.
