      Hey there, thanks for watching! It’s a fun hobby. I did start with an Aufero LM3 and had a lot of fun with it. I just like the fact that it just takes my existing woodworking to another level. When I make a box for a customer they are always blown away by something simple like burning their name on the box or something. Please let me know when you unbox your laser, I would be keen to see what you create with it. Also message me on Instagram if you want some tips or ideas on what to create with it. I have plenty of ideas!

    To facilitate 'gluing' layers, can you stick double sided tape sheets to the back of the wood before cutting so that for the end product all the customer has to do is peel tape backing and press the bits together?

    Thank you for sharing your projects. My son is always laying his books on the ground and breaking the spine, so I'll definitely make a book support for him. What width do you make the boards that have the 22 deg angle?

    • @riversidewoodworks
      @riversidewoodworks  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey mate thank you for your kind words. It’s an arbitrary width hey. I actually made the two sides and glued them together and then measured the width that way before cutting the base so it was a perfect fit. I hope that makes sense.

      Thanks for the feedback Jonathon. Music and audio is absolutely something that I struggle with but am hoping to get better at with every video. I totally get your point and I think at times in an attempt to fill dead space I think I may have the music too loud to the point where it is distracting. Thank you for taking the time to comment. • @karlriley1314

    You didn't say what the size was for the book holder. How wide and how long was the board after cutting it to length?

    • @riversidewoodworks
      @riversidewoodworks  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Yeah you’re right. Sorry about that. The truth is these are all rough measurements. They would be about 14cm wide though. So I cut the angles on the two sides and glued them together first and then I placed them on top of the base and struck a line and cut the base width after the fact. Hope this helps

    • @riversidewoodworks
      @riversidewoodworks  Před měsícem

      If the metal is coated (line anodised) then yes but it cannot etch bare metal. You need a laser with a different wave length. It's a pretty specific kind of laser wave length. I even have a CO2 laser and that can't even do metal. Thank you.

    Hi, I am laserengraving for years now. My expirience is, you cant earn good money with it. I have made crazy, nice stuff, but the people dont want to have it. They love it, but they dont want to buy it. So its hard to believe when laserguys tell, that they earn enough money with a laser, that you can live from that money. But maybe its only in Germany like that.. maybe somewhere else people buy our stuff.
    Regards from Germany.

    • @riversidewoodworks
      @riversidewoodworks  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi there, I totally get what you mean and to be honest it would be very hard to have an income solely based on the laser business, but I have found it allows me to add 15-20% onto my sale price of woodworking items if I can engrave an image or logo or text. Thanks for watching!

      @@riversidewoodworks
      Check the rating
      With a high power diode laser you need a rating of OD5 or more
      For 450 wave (or close to it)
      these are typically orange or dark orange if they block 1000 range too (the opposite of blue)
      Ive never seen a good green glasses for blue diode... Maybe that possible but not to my experience.
      Be careful cause some manufacturers claim rating based on pick density (the selected wavelength range)
      You can find a chart with the precise parameters of glasses.

      @riversidewoodworks  Před 3 měsíci

      @OnlyMadnessPain thanks for your advice. Will look for better ones. Are you saying the orange ones are better? Or the colour doesn’t mean much, just the numbers? Thanks again

    • @OnlyMadnessPain
      @OnlyMadnessPain Před 3 měsíci

      @@riversidewoodworks
      Orange are typical ones for blue diode cause orange is the opposite of blue (simplifying)
      Check the ratings
      You will find a chart that will tell you the exact ranges and blocked value.
      Check for OD5 or more
      OD5 will block 10 times more than OD4 and 100x more than OD3.
      But remember checking chart
      Cause you can find OD5 ment for other use with some blue light filter (for example at the OD3 lvl) and they unfortunately can be advertised as OD5 suitable for blue laser.

    Hello friend. Thanks for the great video!! Awesome job. Please answer me a question as best you can , if you can. I have been very interested in lasers for years but never really could afford a good one. They’re generally $15,000.oo and up to get what you really need from what I can tell. My question is, “””””If I spend the money on a laser and put the time in at the shop using it, can I make a living doing just that with no other income?? I mean like roughly $1,000.oo weekly net income. “”””” If you can reply I greatly appreciate it. I love your 3-D pictures and thats my biggest focus for a laser at this point. Oh and I liked and subscribed to your channel. Comments are also a big deal with a YT Channel. I will find all your vids, like them and leave a comment on them all to help you out. Thank you my friend and best of luck to you!!!…. :))…..

      Hi there, thank you for taking the time to comment. I really think it would be tough relying on the income from a laser business solely. I think it is a great side hustle however. Lasers are coming down in price and they are increasing in power. More power means a reduction in cutting time and you can make more products in less time. Just make sure to use a good fume extractor to protect your lungs!
