    Dave, you are such an inspiration sir. One of my favorite things about your board is that most of the guys on The Gear Page would scoff at that board but your guitar skills pretty much slay all of us. I love that you your board is a tool for making music, not some expensive art house piece to gawk at.

      Totally agree man. I really respect that Dave follows his taste and if he likes a pedal that is considered a piece of junk by most guitar players he ends up finding an usage for the pedal as a tool for his sound.

      100% agree. When someone gives me grief at having four solid state amps and not even the slightest interest in purchasing a tube amp, I kind of just have to take it. Mr. Dave has the ability to smirk at such comments and then see those frowns flip into looks of dumbfounded amazement when he plays. I just look like an idiot making noise through a relatively inexpensive amp.

      This comment is absolutely spot on, Dave's playing is a massive middle finger up to the cork sniffers out there who are more interested in having the most expensive gear becuse they think this will make them sound better rather than just concentrating on their playing. I'm sure Jimi, Rory, Stevie et al never cared about how prestigious their gear was so long as their sound was right.

      Kevin Hill I used to have a Marshall MosFET lead 100 into a Peavey 2x12 cab with 120watt Celestions (I ran it dead clean but warm), a Boss OD-2 Turbo Overdrive (Tone at 9:00) as my distortion channel, a Yamaha chorus pedal, an OC-2, a DSD-2 delay and that was it.
      I had a guy come up to me all exited to ask me about my sound… I gave him the tour, and he asked my what kind of Marshall I was using…
      I explained the whole MosFET thing, and he said, “No TUBES?!” I said “Yeah”. He literally turned on his heel and walked away like I slapped him.
      I still laugh to myself about that one 25 years later.

    This is the type of video that tells me you really know what guitar players like to see. Excellent video! I loved seeing it all in use. I too, do not like angled pedalboards. Also, those Marshall Guv'Nor pedals are getting hard to come by. I walked into a store in August here and saw the first one I've ever seen in person in my life. Snapped it up, and I must say, it is everything you say it is!

  • @paressehylton
    @paressehylton Před 2 lety

    Salut Dave. Just watched your video. If it’s only for powering 2 more pedals, you can daisy chain the dirt pedals, and free some outputs on the voodoolab. As long as you only do i for analog dirt pedals (no digital, and no delays chorus trem even analog) and respect the max draw by output. On the voodoolab you have 100ma outputs, and the ds2 for example only draws 12mA so you have more than necessary. I usually daisychain not more than 2 dirts. So you can pair the ds2 with the doublemuff, and pair the tonecity with the guvnor and then you free 2 power outputs for your new pedals (and you wont hear any difference for sure). PS: was it based on john’s untitled #2 in the intro?

    As I said yesterday… That guitar is immense! Beautifully stunning indeed.
    On a side note, great timing on the upload! I think the middle pickup on my strat is fully dead, so it’s just what I needed to chill out. I wouldn’t be too arsed, but they were hand wound by Mr Seymour Duncan back in 1994. So it’s not good.
    Thanks for the great video as always Dave! And I notice you’ve swapped from your homemade board, was that recent?

  • @looneyinkproductions-eduard

    I don't think it really matters through what amp, guitar or pedal you play. It always sounds like you... 👍
    Though my pedals are changing all the time and are quite different than yours, we've got one pedal in common: I honestly love seeing that Zoom G2.1U on your board as it's been on my board too "for ever". You don't see them much, but that's OK. Because now I've been able to buy (cheap) several spare ones, in case one breaks, because I don't want to do without. I'm using it in the fx loop as mastervolume, delay and volumpedal, sometimes with a bit of chorus. It just such an inexpensive yet solid, reliable and versatile piece of equipment!!

      @@STRATMAN1969 thank you so much :) if I get the chance I will try it out but one of the reasons why I considered the vintera was the feel of the neck and the slim neck. The size of everything on the neck felt awesome and easier to play than my prs.

    • @STRATMAN1969
      @STRATMAN1969 Před 2 lety

      @@leoe388 Yeah no problem. I think people don't associate feel with strat necks, they hear about fat jumbo frets ,and super thin 16" radius necks ,and think that's what they need .Fender designed there necks for the hand .My buddy plays Les Pauls .and when he played my custom built Daphne blue relic with the road house neck the first thing he said was how nice it played ,and the feel of the neck. The 50's vintera's have a V shape neck ,and the 60's have the C shape .They have vintage spec's so they both probably have lacquer ,or a poly' coating on them which some people can find to have a sticky feel (me included) The road house satin finish is to die for. The vintera frets are vintage(small). I have found the 6105(narrow tall) not buzz words usually used with frets ha ,to be the perfect size .The real game changer is the goldie locks 12" radius fret board ,not to round ,not to flat just right .The 7.25" of the 50's ,and the 9.5" of the 60's are just to round for low action and big string bends imo .One more thing people have to get used to are the low out put pick ups I love them! my pedals and amps have plenty of out put .Single coils help me control the "slop factor " in my playing lol.I believe road house's have active pick-ups which is great if you need a higher out-put pick-up, but you don't have to use them .Any ways happy hunting ,hopes this can help .You can never go wrong with a Strat!
