Having blown a lot of holes in my day I got pretty handy at filling gaps, plus a good grinder = good welding🤣🤣🤣 Some good methods there.

Happy new year to both John. You know every trick in the book. Great video and very well explained. Being a panel beater years ago we always had a problem filling gaps . Unimig better watch this and maybe throw in a bit of support. I always buy Unimig but watching you a got a multi razor 230 . Not cheap but worth every cent. The thin late model cars are never made to be restored but these modern Unimig machines are so good you can weld anything. You are right, this razor 230 has smart set , its ok but i use it manually and hotter. But it's like day and night compared to my old Unimig 210 procraft . Incredible machine with so mant features. Makes it a pleasure to work on rust buckets and now i want to build another old wreck. 2 Valiants and a 67 Chevrolet impala nearly finished. Unimig better listen because you explain better than their videos. Great tips for everyone and want to know anything just ask an old farmer.

Before I was A farmer I was an aircraft welder and helped people with old cars etc. I just picked up a few tricks along the way. I also never stop trying new things and I have a lot of FXXX Ups. But I lean a bit as well. Just like to pass on any thing I find helpful. John

Thanks John I am learning more about welding watching you than the American ones which dominate UTube. My little welder has no chart so I cannot even get an initial setting and only creep up using burning through as a guide that it is too hot. Happy New Year to you and Pat.

Thanks for watching. I have a chart and don't use it. I can pretty well work out where I need to be as soon as I weld a bit. Through experience I usually start off close and just tweek it a bit if I need to. John

On that thickness steel, I wouldn't care about a 10mm gap, it would weld up handy. Welders know. The "Skill" starts at 1mm thick & under.

Not wrong mate but it's all practice. Modern cars are the worst, probably why the glue the junk together. Very slow process welding cars , deformation is hard to fix.

pretty neat. basically all i know about welding is you have to grind it up really clean no rust.
that was Arc welder i played with, back when.
