Margaret called out her sister and Elizabeth didn't even deny how she deprived her sister of the life-long love she herself was allowed. And why should she have to drop her title? While Townsend had divorced his wife in 1952, the Church of England's then-strict rules about remarriage after divorce forced Margaret's hand. Under the Royal Marriages Act of 1772, the Princess required the Queen's permission to marry before the age of 25. It was way too nice to Charles and Camilla IMO. I understand that people cheat for very human and sympathetic reasons. But these two were cheating during the engagement, in the early days of the marriage (both marriages) and emotionally when they walked down the aisle. Charles married Diana because she was "suitable," a virgin, and could produce heirs. She was 19, just a kid. They used and manipulated her. It was awful. They were both adults past 30. There are such things as emotional, spiritual, intellectual, parental, familial bonds, mentorship, friendship, and more, that have nothing to do with physicality. Imho, if a relationship is only physical, it's not completely healthy, unless that was agreed upon. We need to be nourished in our relationships in all ways, not just physically. The show completely changed the story of Diana and Kahn, who actually had a fairly serious two-year relationship in which she met his family and considered moving to Pakistan. I don't know if Penny and Philip had an affair. I don't know if she was actually his daughter, either, as some have considered. It's like an episode of "Who wore it better" and what amazes me is how often the real royal, QEII, Princess Margaret, Princess Diana, even Princess Anne, actually take the prize for looking more glamorous than the Hollywood stars who play them. After all, Hollywood actresses are chosen for their looks, photogenic quality and appeal, but being royal is an accident of birth, or marriage. Diana was chosen to marry Charles because the royals wanted a young woman to bear his children so that the royal line could continue. After she had given birth to the two boys, she was considered unnecessary so they discarded her. And the queen mother let Charlie and CowMilla use her country house to continue their affair while he was still married to Diana.

You could the same about Diana..people think she was some sort of Saint. She was very clever and a totally player. Smoke and mirrors that one.

A scene that got to me was when Diana was going out to eat with Mohammed after the ballet. The moment where she's riding in the car with motorcycles around them. I felt the foreshadowing for next season. 😢
