    Mazda 6 is arguably one of the most beautiful sedans in the market today. The turbo engine is amazing with 310 lb.-ft of torque (way down low starting at 1500 rpm) and helps to achieve remarkable fuel economy of up to 33~34 mpg with a 6-speed auto transmission. I wonder what the mpg will be if it is equipped with a 8 or 10 speed transmission.

      @@TheNDex I just test drove the Mazda 6 (with the V6)...and it still felt weak. I ended up buying a Toyota Camry TRD yesterday. The Mazda's interior is much better than the Camry...but the Camry looks cool, very sporty (the Mazda looks more refined and elegant)...but the Camry is way faster. Depends on what you're looking for.

      @@TheNDex Its not the best honestly, but I still love the car. I have the turbo engine, and I feel like my 2012 malibu has more power than this vehicle.
      The pros are the design and interior, has everything almost every luxury car has. Feels very premium.
      The cons are the engine, really slow 0-60 unless you press on the gas and blow your rpms.

    Mazda makes such beautiful cars! I'm kind of surprised that this Mazda 6 does not out sell the Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry and Honda Accord! I think the Next Generation would be a big hit if they offered a sport trim with a 6-speed manual transmission and if they also offered all wheel drive. Great review!

    • @nsbioy
      @nsbioy Před 4 lety +1

      Less space than the others. Buyers in the segment do not care about looks and will not switch loyalty because of a nicer interior. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru. It is hard for Mazda to stand out in this crowd even if it is a better driver's car. Nobody cares about how the car drives in this segment, unfortunately.

      Nissan has many issues, avoid Nissan vehicles. Camry XSE is fantastic and Accord EX or higher Trim is good but relies too much on it's past history as Honda could do better. More people are into Hybrid for better gas mileage and AWD for better handling in rain and snow or on rough road surface plus towing a small trailer unit.

    Mazda doesnt throw away the baby with the bathwater. They keep things that have proven to work perfectly choosing wisely where to innovate. They kept things like the hvac controls, window controls, base engine, steering geometry, wheelbase, chassis, all the things that have lasted on prior models. I have a 6 that is 11 years old and all of these things have been extremely reliable. The manual mode is cool, forward down shift, back to upshift. Why everyone else does it wrong is beyond me. Maybe more companies have changed but i dont know.

    I'm watching all the old videos on 2018+ Mazda6 2.5Ts as I'm about to get a 2019 GT used. Sorry about all the horseshit in your comment section. I read more dumb shit than I think I ever have on car videos. My response to the highlights:
    •Engine will only last 100k - wrong. You might need a turbocharger between 100k and 150k but the 2.5 is a rock-solid unit and the tuning is really quite relaxed.
    •250HP on premium fuel only. It's 227HP on 87 octane and you still get the full 310lb-ft of torque down low. What's the complaint? This is basically every turbocharged vehicle on the market except lower-end ones in the compact segment. Just put in whatever you're happy with. It's not going to feel like a slug with that much torque. The Accord 2.0T is fast but has some reliability concerns with piston rings and turbos going bad prematurely. V6 Camry is way more expensive used. Take your pick.
    •"I get the same performance with an N/A model" that's a straight up lie and probably a boomer who only recently gave up a shitbox 1985 Caprice
    •Short shifts - quite literally the entire design of the drivetrain performance is to not have to redline it to get smooth, powerful acceleration. Buy something N/A if you want to wind it out. I just sold an MR2 Spyder and I'm glad to be going back to turbocharged.
    •A little slow off the line - on-purpose for torque converter and transmission longevity
    •Carbon build-up: Extremely blown out of proportion issue with GDI engines. Yes, it's better to have port injection alongside GDI to clean the valves. You can optionally get a GDI cleaning done later in the vehicle's life but understand that the VAST majority of car owners do not do that. They do the bare minimum maintenance and still get 200k out of a modern engine. The only real trouble you could create would be with mods, particularly something like a canned tune.
    I could have driven off a Lexus lot with a 2018 Accord 2.0T 6MT a few days ago but the clutch pedal engagement point was too high and the throw from 5th to 6th sucked ass. Not notchy at all, felt like Logitech could have made the gearbox. The V6 Camry is floppier maybe unless you get a TRD. They're all $5k more expensive or higher used. Skip that and get the same reliability and more refinement in the overall experience. Makes sense to me. There is NO perfect vehicle. You buy it with pros and cons. The 6 has almost always had far more pros than cons so buy the bastard already before the new inline 6 model come out!

  • @Ironfangzu
    @Ironfangzu Před 2 lety

    You're just going to say this engine makes 227 HP and not mention that is with regular unleaded fuel? If you put premium fuel in this engine puts out 250 hp. That's a pretty critical thing to let people know if they are considering buying it. I have this exact car, except mine is Grand Touring Reserve, but basically everything else is the same. So, yeah, try not to leave out information like this, thanks.

    It's nice. The 2020 has the long awaited 4 cylinder Turbo. Instead of 227hp now has 250hp. It really needed the boost in acceleration after a dead stop. The exterior body design has faulted as the 2017 year model really looked sharp and Sporty. The Info /Entertainment Display (back up, Nav, Stereo) should be larger as you had mentioned the 7 inch is doable or par. Actually, it would be much nicer to have the Display built into the console rather than sticking up above the dashboard like a Sore Thumb. Overall, Mazda 6 Sport and Touring Trims lack much to be desired until you get the Grand Touring with the 2.5T engine. I compared this to the Toyota Camry XSE which is really designed well. At the $30,000 range you come out ahead with Mazda 6 Grand Touring because of the 2.5T engine as the Toyota's engine stinks unless you opt for the Toyota's V6. Toyota Camry high end Trims with the V6 engine including their TDR model beats out Mazda 6 Grand Touring and Signature trims. When Ben was driving in this review, the Mazda 6 is still noisy, not as quiet as should be. You will need to goto Ziebart to get a good undercoating to eliminate more road noise. A shame on a new car you have to get it Sound Proofed. Honda Accord is excellent but they are even nosier than the Mazda or Toyota. Note: Toyota will show signs of rust in 5 year, Mazda about 6 to 7 years and Honda roughly 8 years. For unknown reasons, Mazda depreciates in price faster than Honda and Toyota. If you need a less expensive car than these 3 with a better Warranty, look into the Hyundai Sonata SEL at about $2,000 less. To get Heads Up Display (HUD) you need to get the very Top Trim with Toyota, Honda and Mazda. HUD really looks kool during evening and night time hours however, still too much glare for use during daylight hours. If you just need a car without comfort and not to spend a lot of money then get the Chevy Impala. If you want a Mazda but cannot afford the Mazda 6 then get the compact Mazda 3 which is still kool and awesome for a non-family/ single person. For tall people over 6' 2" get a SUV, Van, or Truck as not to cramp your style as need head and leg room or do you prefer having set the seat way back into the passenger area and leaned back as in slouching which is bad for your back, if you get into an accident the airbags will not protect you when so far away.

      If u get the Mazdaspeed 3 or the Mazdaspeed 6. That was Mazda turbocharged line. As far as length of engine life its reduced compared to a Natural Aspirated engine. Meaning no turbos or supercharger on it. So this turbocharged engine would be good for your normal 100k mi driver on a vehicle and trade in...
